Gutted to hear this to be honest he's a great leader and athlete and I think we should have kept him another year then added him to our coaching team.

He’ll be a big loss. Seems like a really decent, down to earth bloke, who looks after himself very well and keeps himself in shape. Thank you for what you’ve done at the club and all the very best for the future Millie.

Milner was a fantastic servant and has earned every medal he could at this club BUT his time has passed.
Now the only thing he is guaranteed to bring is a hard tackle with a yellow card. He is still extrememly fit but not elite football club level fit.
Loved him but he needs to move on.
Thanks for the memories James Milner.

James Milner has been nothing short of a model professional but let’s take this sentiment some hold to one side. The guy turns 38 in January! Are some looking to keep him until he is 40 years old? I’m not gutted he is leaving as his time is up. I’m just happy for the memories and wish him luck in his new venture.

Apparently when Milner was at city he taught himself spanish so he could make the new spanish speaking players feel more welcome at the club. He has been a great signing and its a shame he is going to leave but i wish him all the best (except when they play against us)

He could still come back to coach ??.

It’s fine, Hendo will take his role now. Don’t need both of them on the bench. Good guy though - strange to go Brighton as imagine he will have the same role as here.

If it is true, then I wonder if Milly has made the choice because he wants the opportunity to experience De Zerbi's coaching methods as part of his own journey to coaching?

Millie's leadership in the changing room will be seriously missed but he wants playing time. I thought he'd move to a coach/ player role next year followed by a coaching role the year after since he finished his UEFA coaching badges but he has seen the difficulties faced by JK in this last year and this seems to have left him unclear about a management path as an option at all. I think he will become a coach but he's definitely suspended when that will happen.

FPF that's a really good point actually. He'll have played for De Zerbi, Klopp, Guardiola and Bobby Robson so will certainly have learned a lot.

That said, he has also played for Graeme Souness and Allardyce so the poor lad might have already lost a few brain cells.

Doubt this is true - he is doing his coaching badges and Klopp see's him as being part of his coaching staff.

Millie will have his eyes on the all time PL records. Appearances, wins.

Overstayed by about 2 or 3 years time to get Henderson gone with him. Loyalty isn't a bad thing but players need to be good enough.

I'm confused why people think he can't carry on playing at another club and then coach at LFC when he feels ready? It's not either or!

Jones, Elliott, Fab, Hendo, Thiago, Trent, Baj before anyone else joins. Add two more and that makes 9 fighting for between 2/ 4 places. Surely at least one more will be leaving as well as Carvalho.
