James Pearce has a few minutes ago claimed that we are close to signing both Moreno and Manquillo in a double deal that looks set to break the 100 mill mark. Great business by the Reds, am looking so forward to this season!

Hi fellow Eds and Reds
Today is my 25th birthday, I've been coming on this sight for 10 years now but haven't posted much. I just want to thank you all for sharing every bit of great banter, good times (and even bad) and giving me constant information and enjoyment since I was a 15 year old lad.
It's been a wild ride with you lot and here's to an amazing season ahead!

Cheers to you proper legends!

Hello Eds and fellow Reds, quick question: Would Pako ever be considered for the first team position. I rate him extremely highly as a coach and although it's just the Israeli league I think he's starting to show credentials as a manager too

In addition I think his youth policies would be second to none

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

What a fantastic occasion yesterday. I also think the timing for such an event was crucial. Yes we are probably still hurting from last Sunday but yesterday gave us a moment to reflect on why we do support our team and why we have invested into the Liverpool ethos and culture. I'm always proud to call myself a red .now we can take a deep breath and get ready to take the plunge for the rest of the season. Well done everyone

It was great to see all those past heros who served us well. I enjoyed the game and to me, seeing Xabi Alonso at Anfield one more time made me wonder what might have been had he not been forced out IMO, from the club. Great game and great experience.

Say what you want about Henderson's leadership, but we have lost 1 match all season when he's been captain - Real Madrid away.

These are the kind of teething problems that come with a change in leadership and you know what, the whole team and the manager will have learned from that and they will sort it out and move on.

Absolute storm in a teacup

BR is lucky that all the talk today is about Balotelli. We were pretty awful yesterday. We were really lethargic and created nothing. Only Mignolet, Sakho and Ibe can say they played well.

Emre Can looked unconcentrated all game yesterday.
Skrtel was beaten for pace by Ba 3 times.
Coutinho was marked by 2-3 players all game.
Joe Allen and Henderson didn't do anything.

Sturridge will need a month or so to get back to the old Sturridge.

Lallana was thinkg about the saints game i believe. He was really queit.

Lovren came on and Besiktas created a couple of dangerous situations from his side and he even got booked.

Basically 4 players did well. Migs, Ibe, Sakho and Balo when he came on. He ran at defenders won 2-3 freekicks in dangerous areas and was lively.

I think it's harsh to say we were awful. If you look at any ball bouncing around in their area it just seemed to drop at the defences feet allowing them to clear. If we had scored early and weren't playing against 11 behind the ball we probably would have won comfortably. Ingames like this I think you need a break to go your way at some stage which we eeventually got with the penalty.

were we great certainly not but if the scoreline had been 3-0 with a couple of extra scrappy goals which we could easily have had I don't think you would be hearing about how flattering the result was?

3.) 20 Feb 2015 11:42:29
We were awful end off. doesn't matter how you twist and turn it around. Most teams will park double busses at anfield. And if we won 3-0 the result would be extremly flattering because apart from 1 chance they gifted us over 90 minutes we created f*** all and mignolet pulled off a couple of great saves one in each half. So you were probably watching another game ;)

Ok, the QPR game is over
We won, we played badly and everyone knows it including the players, let's move on to the next game

I would play the team that can close down Real's spaces the most efficiently. Also, the team which is used to the shape which can keep constant and maintain a high pressing formation without relying on the striker to do the job from the front, which has been a problem this year.

I would start with the QPR back 5 except replace Enrique with Moreno. I just feel Johnson will concentrate because it's Real and will have the big match temperament to trust himself going forward to create. More so than Manquillo who can be bought on later to shore up the defence

In the midfield, play a diamond with Gerrard deep, Allen and Hendo either side and then Sterling at the tip. Allen's understanding of the system has been missed as much as Sturridge. When he came on, he was able to free up Coutinho and Sterling into their favourable pockets of space. Play Lallana as an interchangeable second striker with Sterling at the top (the Suarez role) and then Balotelli can feed off their running and energy.

Once we have worn out their midfield as much as possible we can bring Coutinho on to release the counter

The only reason I would persist with Balotelli is because he can bully the Real defence more than our other strikers. And the only way he'll get his confidence back is by playing well against Real. If he can't do it on the biggest stage possible then bench him going forward.

There is literally no point in being pessimistic because if we take that pessimism as fans into the match, the players will feed off that and drop their heads. They'll need all the support they can get

Let's give them hell!

Been on this site since 2006 when a lad called Goatman Garry ( Arsenal fan ) was the main poster. We were constantly being linked to Simao Sabrosa and a certain Fernando Torres as well as rumours of Gerrard leaving to Chelsea . even some 'cheeky' Raul rumours started to surface

Well done eds on a fantastic job throughout the years

NextGenRed

{Ed001's Note - we did try and sign Raul when Rafa was manager, and, unless I am getting mixed up, didn't we nearly sign Simao at one point as well?}

There are some provisional FA badges which you would have to go through first (They should be available in your country). I have done my first two in Northern Ireland but will go to Switzerland to start my Uefa B. From each badge to the next, you have a required amount of hours that need to be logged and a specific duration of time in which you can't apply for the next badge

It is obviously harder to get recognition in the system if you never played professionally but then again there have been plenty of great coaches who did not so that shouldn't be a worry. It's just a case of involving yourself as much as possible and networking with the right people

After you reach a certain level, you can only get invited to participate in the course. As you saw with Zidane at Real, even the top guys can't cut corners.

For more info, check out the League Manager's Association website (LMA) and your local FA website.
