Never a better feeling from a players perspective than seeing academy players littered across the team!

Believe we peaked at 7 players U21 on the pitch!

Great review Ed001. Has been a positive response from Grav since that Arsenal game and I hope he keeps it up.

If Salah or Darwin are fit for the Chelsea game, who would you pick in midfield? Elliot or Grav? I'm assuming Mac and Endo will be starting.

{Ed001's Note - you have to leave Gravenberch in while he is playing well. You can't have him responding to what he is asked to do and step up like he has and then drop him. It sends the wrong message to him and the whole team.}

Have to say Ed01 - you got it spot on with regards to Connor Bradley. I remember you mentioning him quite a bit in the summer. I personally thought he probably wasn't ready given his only really experience was a season at Bolton but boy was I wrong! What a player he is going to become.

{Ed001's Note - special talent, we are lucky to have him.}

Nice one, Ed01. Can't disagree with anything you have said bar the Luton goal. I thought he could have done better as well BUT I just saw an angle of the move on the Inside Anfield videos (you should check it out) and actually, Kellerher makes a brilliant save cos the ball was about to go in thru his legs but he saved it and the ball went well away from the goal. Keep in mind that vs Fulham, the ball goes thru his legs and goes in cleanly so improvement there, IMO lol.

However, the issue here was that his save popped in the air, looping over the two defenders that could have cleared it were it on the ground and Ogbene scores. A bit unlucky, IMO but it is what it is. As for the rest, our boys got guts, mate and not that this was ever in question. We played well in the first half despite many online saying we were awful. Not sure what these people were watching cos our finishing was the only piece missing. The chances were there.

Klopp looked like a proud dad watching his kids come good right before his eyes as well. That part hit me, for real. The crowd brought it and we brought the house down on Luton who couldn't cope thru out the second half. Onto the Cup Final.

{Ed001's Note - I saw that already, but I still think he could and should have done better with it.}

Gomez for England over barkley if we're talking comebacks.

I agree Ed I thought Kelleher should’ve done better. It’s not so much the save it was his initial positioning, he gambled and left a gap at his front post expecting a cross.

If he’s covering his front post properly then a shot would just hit him and bounce out rather than him allowing a gap then scrambling to keep it out.

I think it’s tough on Kelleher because inevitably we are going to compare what he does to what Ali would do. Nobody else in the world can do what Ali does so it’s harsh to expect Kelleher to do it.

{Ed001's Note - exactly, but it is what it is and we can't accept second best if we are to win trophies. We need to be striving for the best in everything and that includes those stepping in to cover injuries. The hope is that he sees what he could do better and learns from it for the tighter games.}

Beckers, I don't do such comparisons cos it is not fair on Kellerher or anyone indeed cos to me, AB1 is the GOAT of GK's in the PL. Kellerher is who he is and IMO, is a very competent GK. On the goal, I can understand what you (and the Ed) is saying bUT these are things he can work on and had he been playing regularly, that is something he probably corrects over time.

As Ed01 said, Kellerher is who he is (the deputy to the GOAT GK in the PL) so we have to just support him cos he is who we have now IMO, he is the best no. 2 in the league and I don't think any first choice GK in any decent team is going to come over and sit behind AB1 who is going nowhere for the foreseeable future. I just don't see that happening.

Ed001: Thank you so much for putting Barkley back into his box, the hyperbole around him has been over the top, with all due respect to luton, he has simply found his level.

I agree with you as regards to Gravenberch when players find form they should keep there places.

Finally I was delighted for Gakpo as he takes a lot of stick from sections of Liverpool fans, when as far as I am concerned he is a victim of his ability to play in so many positions for Klopp.

Its always nice to see Youngsters not only get there chance but take it as well.

Bradley is so good I forget he is only 20, he plays like a experienced campaigner.

{Ed001's Note - it is odd how some players get such hyperbole for doing nothing.}

A thing that struck me in the past couple of weeks is that Elliot is still only 20. He’s made 100 first team appearances, had a season away on loan and a very bad injury that kept him out for over a season. Battling back and contributing the way he is doing says loads about the kid. I think in a number of ways he sort of sums up the attitude of the squad at the moment.

Danns intelligence, eye for a pass and movement in the U18's has been standout, i hope it develops as he moves into top flight football, his turn and pass for Gakpo before Elliot finish was superb.

Say Ed01 on another note, I see a lot of fans blaming David Raya for the Porto goal. For me, I can see a bit why cos for a short GK in comparison to some of his peers, he looked a bit too advanced and off his line which you can't do. Also, he didn't even back-pedal to give him a chance of not getting lobbed and reaching the shot.

Please, let me know your thoughts. And others can chime in, as well.

{Ed001's Note - I didn't watch it, sorry. I got bored and fell asleep before the goal.}

Thanks for the review Ed’s.
In the second half Ross Barkley dribbled past 3 players and then did one of the worst dives I’ve ever seen just outside the peno box instead of carrying on and shooting. His decision making is very poor.

Kelleher is a very good keeper in his own right Oli but the comparisons will be made to Ali. It’s inevitable.

When he does make an error I do have to remind myself that most keepers in the league make these kind of errors. It’s just that we are so used to Ali that we don’t see it that often.

If Ali makes an error it’s a very obvious one like against Arsenal. He makes general goalkeeping look so easy most of the time.

Thanks for writing this Ed1 mate.

I found it a really interesting game because at half time I felt deflated. Luckily the lads and Anfield banded together to get yet another great win in the end, a game of two halves indeed.

If we were to have a fully fit midfield mate, who would you be starting? I can't choose! When you think about how good Mac Allister and Endo are playing, Jones and Szoboszlai when fit have to be in the mix. For me I think it's a case of whoever is out, they have to work for their spot again, you can't drop players whilst they're playing well. It's a good situation to be in though isn't it mate? what a midfield!

Thanks again Ed, a great read as always.

{Ed001's Note - I am with you on that, right now the three that are starting are doing so well that you have to keep them in. Ride the hot hand as they say.}
