I don’t get why you’re so fascinated about how much a player costs?
Some of our greatest players never cost over the odds. Big Sami for a start, Alonso, rush, Hansen all came cheap. Massive profit on couts, Torres and Suarez.
If money brings you quality, I’ll just say some names. Veron, Pogba, Schevchenko, Robinho of the top of my head were all well over the odds.

Money has always been our sticking point in challenging the title. We were always 2-3 world class players from challenging for the title. Rafa did not had it, I hope Klopp is well backed by the club.
If you want fekir then you must pay what it takes or if you are happy with Nathan Redmond you can get him for half the price, but then you face the consequences.

That’s not my point Harry. There are better players in the world than Fekir for less money. It’s all down to scouting. How much did Lyon pay for Fekir. how much did we pay for Gerrard. There are gems out there to be found. You don’t HAVE to spend big.

Bit of a throw away comment that benny, fekir is probably top 10-20 in his position in the world and I'm almost certain all of those players are really expensive. The only time they are not is when they haven't shown any evidence of their quality yet.

If we get him, IF. I hope people don't expect him to be Coutinho esc. He can't do what Phil did but he's still very good. Trust me if he was on that level Barcelona would've got Fekir and not Coutinho.
The one player on a world class level though is Naby. We've got him at an absolute Steal, I'm thinking he can rival Salah for player of the year.

Spot on, Benny. For me, it is not about the money. It is whether the player fits the way we wanna play. The money IS a factor cos you DON't wanna overpay for someone which is where relentless scouting and due diligence is VERY important. Even Xabi Alonso was a STEAL at 10.4 m rears ago cos anyone watching Sociedad in his last two seasons (pushed Real till the last day of the season when they lost the title in 02/ 03 season) knew he could be great. Benitez was good at unearthing some good gems (Luis Garcia) too in his own right at the beginning until things changed.

Klopp has taught us that if money is required to get RIGHT quality (not just anyone), he will do so (see VVD, Nabby, Fab) . If he can get a player he thinks he can work with to get the best out of him (Ox, Robbo and Yeah, SALAH) then, he will do so. If he can promote from within (TAA) or coach up who he has (Lovs, Klavan) then he will do so. Klopp is showing that there are many ways to skin a cat and he is BRILLIANT at it.

I am with Harry on this one Benny. We need to pay what it takes to get the players we want, as long we can afford it, rather than buy a inferior player for less. Keita fekir and Fabinho are a upgrade on the 3 players who played in Kiev. A lot of people say we overpaid for Hendo and Gini but we didn't if you look at it now.
