I really wanted us to make Ashley Williams a red 12m is a bargain! We should have signed him 3 years ago!

Ashley Williams is a very average CB butis a leader and is very brave. Those two should never be mixed together as Skrtel was brave too yet he was an awful CB.

OK Cincyred Ashley Williams is not a average centre back at all, he reads the game so well, he is a great commander of the box defensively, great positioning. He is clearly a lot better than average? Eds how do you feel about Ashley Williams - surely a bargain!

{Ed001's Note - not a fan personally, he struggled once Swansea tried to open up and he actually had to defend without massed ranks of midfielders in front of him. Great captain, but average player. Reminds me of Skrtel, in that his positioning is dodgy and he pulls shirts a lot. The only reason he is a lot better than Skrtel is that he is quicker and stronger.}

very good to hear your views, being a Welshman and watched him drag Wales from the depth of losing to Estonia to the semis. He will be a great replacement for the Everton for Stones especially for the next 4 years!

Thanks Eds for the continued extremely thorough and hard work you endeavour! Much appreciated world wide I know!

{Ed001's Note - he is well suited to Wales, they play deep, which means his positioning is not exposed. They provide good protection from midfield too. So he can be what he is best at - a captain. He is a very good leader.}

Did someone say Skrtel was brave? I'd say he got bullied by many players playing for lesser teams - that cup game against Oldham a few years ago springs to mind.

Skrtle was brave.

Stop being fickle and give the lad some respect.

{Ed001's Note - he was far from brave. He spent a year bottling out of every header after a clash of heads with Carra, while Carra wanted to carry on playing. Even though it was Carra who suffered more damage. Skrtel looked tough but was a pussycat. It is not fickle, nor it is disrespectful to point out the flaws in his game. Grow up! You are so pc it is pathetic.}

Skrtel was a grafter. A very average player, a very limited athlete, and mentally very weak. But you cannot discredit his passion. Brave? I'd question that. It depends on how you define brave. He'd never shy out of a block, but he regularly went in for tackles and headers half heartedly. I will miss his never say die attitude and the passion he celebrated goals with. But it was all a front. Off the pitch he was anything but passionate. He'd be a Man City player had he got his way. It's a farce that Agger turned down Barcelona and still got forced out the door before Skrtel.

Skrtel had some good moments. Some of his headed goals were bullets. I will choose to remember those because if I think about his defending it gives me nightmares.

Williams good for 4 years at Everton, BigEd? You do know almost 32 right now and won`t get any better, right? He looks good in a system that protects him as ED said but when exposed (as he will be here if he came to LFC), he would be found out for the poor CB he actually is and ED just proved my point. Skrtel was passionate yes BUT about getting his money and trying to shaft us because we wouldn`t let him go to City. He`s been bullied by almost every striker he`s played against (Benteke owned him everytime while at Villa) so to say he`s passionate is ridiculous. He is everything BUT.

Dagger was going through hell to play and there is no doubt just how brave he was. And a great club servant. I wish him the best for his future.

Skrtl was too prone to making basic errors and resorted to pulling shirts too often.

Dagger. Now that was true bravery. He rejected Barcelona and City to stay with us and was miles better than Skrtel. Great player and even a better man.

12 million for aback up, 31yr old CB.

As a Welshman I love ash, and sorry to disagree eds he is far superior to skyrtyl. Ashley Willian's would never bottle it or be bullied like skittles did.

Saying that he is not for us at 31and 12 million when we have 3 better and younger cbs at the club

Lovren- sahko- matip--- with a keeper who can communicate and organise will look like world beaters.

With can hendo or grugic in front, I actually think we will for the first time since Rafa be organised and hard to break down

Obv need for a left back. And don't know enough about klavan to comment.

Still feel we need studge to stay fit to get top 4 tho.

{Ed001's Note - I said he was better than Skrtel, what is your point? How are you disagreeing? Or are you just pointing out why we editors get so frustrated with people as no one ever actually bothers to read what we say and just makes up stuff in their head?}
