Some chatter about a potential deal for Salah with Al Ittihad.

Any truth Ed's?

I know you've said his agent has been touting him around for a while so it wouldn't be a major surprise, especially given the talent that's now already gone to Saudi.

{Ed002's Note - Mo Salah (RW) His agent is hawking him around for one last big payday - Real Madrid are not interested, PSG may be, Middle East certainly with Al-Ittihad. I would expect him to stay another year the head to the Middle East.}

He is going to take some replacing.

I have got this funny feeling Salah will go this window. Szobozlai will end up playing on the right hand side but obviously in a different role to Salah.
Get Nunez up top and start getting the ball in to him.

If Salah stays for another year it gives Doak another year to develop further. If he can work on his end product the guy will terrify the league.

Doak won’t be replacing Salah next season, in my opinion anyway.

With a week left in the transfer window we would be insane to let mo leave but it wouldn’t surprise me in this crazy window.

Olise, Saka, Garnacho. Doak! if you're good enough your old enough.

But Olise and Garnacho aren’t good enough to replace Salah either?

In fact not many are.

Having belief in Doak is great but we shouldn’t set him up to fail by asking him to perform a role he’s not ready for yet.

I think we underestimate the value of experience - look how long it’s taken Man City to integrate Foden, who’s an exceptional talent and only now getting a starting role age 23. Even Saka is almost 22.

Ben Doak is 17…. He’s a fantastic talent but let’s not claim he’s ready to replace one of the best ever goal scorers to have graced the PL, it takes years of learning to master your craft, no matter how talented you may be.

When Salah does leave it won't be a case of swapping a like-for-like ready made replacement in. It will be accommodated by the team shifting focus. Already this year I believe we will be less reliable on him. From what I have seen pre season and in the first couple of games we have seen a shift from being over reliant on his goals to him creating more than he is scoring. In addition we have brought in midfielders who are far more likely to contribute goals than those they replaced.

Our next RF/ RW won't be a ready made Salah clone. It will be a player who fits into the new Liverpool team that is currently being built.

I'm not saying Doak definitely will be ready to step up next season but I'm certainly not writing him off because he is 17. Look at Owen. It's only a few days since people were livid because we didn't sign a 19 year old for £60M who had only a handful of games as experience.

As Jude says. "If you're good enough, you're old enough"

Exactly Jude. Like I said Doak won’t be replacing Salah next season.
You think he’s good enough? Like really?

Garnacho? Hard pass on that one, JN. Doak is a kid and needs to develop on his own and at his own pace. Who replaces Salah? Khavatskhelia or Federico Chiesa (hopefully he is back to his best after his injury) would be my shouts.

A club should never have to replace a single player so to speak and if you look at the change from our front 3 of mane, Bobby, Salah the club have actually done very well at bringing in Diaz, gakpo Nunez at different stages. I'm sure the club will have a long list of possible signings to play on the right. I do also have a sneaky feeling salah will be overtaken by a few as our most important player.

If we are going to sell salah, you have to replace him with quality. The only player we should be looking at is mitoma from brighton.
