Chiesa, like most players, is not fit to lace Salah's boots. I'll keep the guy we have who's scoring 30 a season and should have the fitness to do so for at least another 2-3 years, ta.

Not to mention Chiesa did his ACL 18 months ago and has scored 4 goals in all appearances since coming back. Salah scored more goals than that in April last season.

Chiesa is finished at the top level. That ACL is going to be the cause of repeat injuries for the rest of his career. I doubt even we’d be stupid enough to sell Salah and attempt to replace him with a crock like Chiesa. There’s no price that makes him worth the risk.

I don’t think there’s any right sided attacker that gets us 30 goals a season that would come to us at present. Let’s be honest we very rarely even buy those sort of players, we usually make them. Chiesa isn’t the answer. I wouldn’t mind seeing if Olise or Eze could step up but Salah isn’t done for a couple of years yet.

BBC claim that PSG are willing to sell Mbappe before his contract runs out, if that's true I think they will come for Salah over Kane, the question is will LFC sell and will Salah push for the sale.

Think the only 1 who hits salah's numbers is mbappe. if there's no standup replacement i'd let Doak go at it as long as the money was put into improving other areas of the side like a gvardiol for example. but salah been sold should be an absolute last resort.

Can’t we just bring a few of the kids in and bulk up the squad! Why get rid of our best attacker and replace with someone who clearly has not been the same player since injury! If he was that good juventus would keep him and play him, Doak should be given the chance to play, when he has been given the chance I have been very impressed with him! Very rough but boy does he get stuck in and causes teams problems being so direct, we can’t afford to keep buying these random players unless someone gets sold! We need another midfielder who can cover the right which seems to be thuram I would also like Kone or veiga as I would imagine fabs goes next year so be good to bed one of those two in while we can actually afford them! And when fabs leaves we have bajetic and either one of those mentioned above to compete. Also gives back our pressing capabilities, then a left sided defender to start pushing van dijk and hopefully taking his spot in the coming years. Forward line is complete in my eyes. Just my opinion.

If salah does push for the move (which I hope he doesn’t) I’d go for mbeumo from Brentford. Always impressed me and plenty of room to grow. I expect this won’t be a popular opinion.

Salah moving is the best solution for both parties imo. He is clearly a legend and will be remembered forever. But he was past his prime and doesn't deserve his huge wage. His finishing and dribbling are done. His shooting power and accuracy are worse than my 1st grade daughter's. What if in next 2 seasons he gets older and his form is still as disappointing as in the past 1.5 years? No one is bigger than this club, even Klopp and Salah. It isn't necessary to replace him with a player of the same level, our manager is smart enough to be able to adjust tactics without him in the squad.

tab00, if your 1st grade daughter can shoot more powerfully and accurately than Salah, who has just scored 30+ goals for us for the 4th time in 5 seasons (IIRC) then she has a promising career ahead of her. You must be a very proud Daddy.

If only all of our teams form was as 'disappointing' as Salah's has been.

I think there is every chance Mo pushes for the move. He currently has no CL football next season and certainly not guaranteed in the future with the competitive nature of the PL. If he moves to PSG, he is pretty much guaranteed CL football for the rest of his career, a league title each season and possibly the odd cup win too. That coupled with the no doubt enormous wages they'd offer, it almost seems ideal for him moving towards the last few years of his career.

I don't disagree with succession planning tab, but we've got quite a few gaps right now, and Salah ain't one of them. He may be in 1-2 seasons time but who knows a) how the other 4 attackers develop and b) how Elliot/ Doak or others from the youth set up are able to step up too.

Sure. It's a convincing argument. But It's also not a zero sum game, Zeddicus. It doesn't mean we necessarily lose 30 goals plus if lose Salah. It could also mean we gain 20 plus goals elsewhere, more evenly spread, and finish 4th.

Going for Chiesa would be dumb. You’d be just as well to set fire to a pile of £50 notes. A 30 something Salah is better and more reliable than a completely broken Chiesa.
