I TRULY can't wait for the season to start. I think I say that every year but the impact last summer's signings have made, make me really can't wait to see what these new recruits can do. Roll on August.

It amazes me how people don't seem to believe that with application and determination a footballer's game can improve significantly. Add a talented coaching staff, a supportive club and fanbase, and it's more than possible for AOC to be surprise us all. Stranger things have happened IMO.
I believe he's young enough to improve and will be eager to prove, if only to himself, that he made the right decision.
Moreno has moved from woeful to not so bad and might still improve further.

De Bruyne, Coutinho, Lukaku, all moved on from previous clubs as they weren't hitting the heights expected of them. Sometimes it takes the right club and coaches to bring out the best in a player.

Please correct me if im wrong, Harry, but im pretty certain that Coutinho Lukaku and KDB had the same pieces of anatomy in their skulls when they were at Inter and Chelsea. Regardless of their perceived intelligence, they had trouble establishing themselves until they moved clubs.

I am sorry but it playing time that lead to KDB and Coutinho's exit from Chelsea and inter! Nothing to do with ability!
{Ed001's Note - except that they couldn't get playing time because the clubs felt they were not good enough at that stage in their careers. That would be everything to do with ability.}

Ox has never really had a long run in a position to learn it. Whether through injury or more recently through Wenger changing his position every week. My mate (Arsenal fan) said he had a couple of games at cm where he played well and looked like the only player really trying and they thought this would become his position and then for some reason next game he'd be left out or playing wing back instead. the boy has talent Wenger just doesn't know what he's doing these days.

Really hoping we get Lallana. He was the only one who seemed capable of unlocking Peru's defense. He was positive and looks like he would fit right into BR's philosophy.
Apparently we've made a 'final bid' of 25 mil. Hoping Southampton will accept and he can go to Brazil with his future more or less sorted.

Really can't believe what I've been reading about Lambert.
We started the season with 4 senior out and out strikers. Borini was loaned out and Aspas didn't score a league goal and never threatened to break into the starting 11.
So what if Lambert is 32? If I'm not mistaken he's the first player to make the England squad from outside last season's top 6 clubs, (before his Southampton team mates).
He's on his way to Brazil on merit. The stats tell the story of what he's capable of and he's been fantastic.
Even if he only has a couple good seasons left in him there are a few things we know for sure. He loves the club and will give his all and he understands where he'll be in the pecking order.
We had a good season and I'm sure nobody will hold Aspas responsible for us not winning the league. Is he a better backup striker than Rickie Lambert? YOU DECIDE.

How good as Jordan Henderson become? It really is a pleasing as a fan to see your club's players develop before your eyes. Remember Lucas? Now he's a fixture in the first team and didn't we miss him when he got injured at Chelsea?
Now for the question. Which other players can you think of who overcame a disappointing initial period at the club to become really good? {Ed001's Note - easy - Ian Rush, he even cost Twentyman his job, due to the pressure heaped on him when Rush was thought to be a flop!}

Thought by now people understood that in Spain it is the player or a representative of the player who pays the release clause. The money, of course, comes from the buying club but is paid over to La Liga by the player. Sorry, if this was said already, just responding to the OP.

Not quite, LFCDas. the 8 playoff winners each play one of the top 8 in the round of 16, so no advantage in finishing outside the top 8 and playing those 2 extra games.

Lot of good players mentioned above but no Dirk Kuyt? Honestly, the work rate of our current crop is phenomenal, but the only ones who come close to how hard this guy grafted on the pitch are probably Milner and Robbo. Firmino's press is intelligent but not as insistent.

Loved the post and totally agree with the expectations but you should have left out 'potential starters in any EPL team'. I know you said 'potential' but its the 'any' I can't agree with.
