What are people’s thoughts now on missing out on Bellingham with us now having let 5 midfielders go? I personally think it’s been great business we have made so far in the window if we also get lavia in the door. Still think we need a cb and another midfielder to compete for all the major honours again. If we get two more signings it will be interesting baptism of fire with a whole new midfield.

Had we spent all that money on Bellingham and let all those players leave I think we would have been in a lot of trouble rebuilding for the next few years due to the outlay of his deal.

Funny, I was thinking that earlier this morning. If we can assume that we had bought one midfielder in addition to Bellingham for the five that have/ are leaving, I think we are better off with the four (I'm assuming) that will come in. Our outlay may end up being more than with the Bellingham + 1 option (it certainly will be if you factor in purchase price, wages and agent's fees) but Klopp will have greater variety in skill and more options at his disposal in case of injuries. It's a case of the classic question of marginal returns. Do you pay a 100% more for a player who is 15-30% better than what's available? We paid £95 million for 2 players (Mac Allister and Szoboszlai) for less than what Bellingham would have cost alone. Is he worth more than those two combined? I don't think so. We made the right business decision.

Bellingham is excellent but he chose Real over us. I'm sure we tried but it couldn't be done.

I'm extremely happy with Mac Allaister and Szobozlai. If we get Lavia over the line, that's another one I'm extremely happy with.

We need a CB. I'm super keen on Ignacio but links are cold. I haven't seen enough of Schuurs to judge. I wasn't overly impressed with him a few years ago but loads could have changed in that time. Given his age when I watched him, I'm almost certain he developed a lot. I just hope we end up buying a really good one because it's needed.

So like everyone else, I'm excited and hoping it all comes together before the end of the window.

I'm happy with the business we've done and there's no point crying over spilt milk with bellingham. Problem is, the club allowed the midfield to stagnate and we all seen last season coming. We expected since there hadn't been investment in that area for so long that the money was available for bellingham. Missing out on bellingham may have partly been due to missing out on champions league but then it goes back k to lack of investment in the first place. Overall though, happy with the signings so far just wish they'd come a season or 2 earlier.

I think most people view the club/ klopp as one and the same eds. I understand what you mean but means the same to most. So with the CB options, you've ruled out a few now, so who are we specifically looking at?

Sound business so far. Only criticism is timing, but that is football transfers.

I really hope we don't gamble at centreback. We still have PTSD from the 20/ 21 season.

Thanks, Ed2. Are we still showing an interest in VDV? I thought you had mentioned the opportunity had passed? Last I heard Spurs were keen? I think he would be a good addition and fairly reasonable price wise. Cheers.

1JJ what is there to let go? Am I moaning about us not signing Bellingham? No, I for one never saw why we would pay that much for a twenty year old anyway. Simple question if you’re not interested in giving an actual answer then why bother replying at all?
