A strong article thG, well written with some really good points. Hard to disagree with any of it.

Top read, thanks. Yes have just made far too many mistakes. We need a run of good decisions and get back to pressing the opposition. If we are going back to the press though we need a minimum 2 starting midfielders.

A great post Seano.

My worries are the big concerns. Do FSG care that Klopp is tapping up players?

Is Klopp wise enough to see his back room, from medical staff to coaches, may be part of the wider issue?

Is Klopp too blinkered to change from his inverted RB model? Villa worked it out for crying out loud, European teams will destroy us. As will most Prem teams once they work out how to combat it, Klopp rarely has a plan B when things go wrong.

The refereeing situation is ridiculous and Tomkins article emphasises just what we are up against. We almost need to play like choir boys and score 3 goals per game to negate the bias. So let’s do exactly that.

The Director of Football is vital, someone robust enough to stand up to Klopp but not someone inflammatory. This is going to be a hard recruitment drive.

Player recruitment, stop recruiting players with significant injury issues. Keita was a bizarre one but Ox and Thiago were known to be prone to consistently long periods out due to injury. Stop buying these players. Simple.

I am looking forward to the new season but find myself less and less engaged as I get older. Let’s hope we as a team, supporters and players alike are reinvigorated for 2023/ 24 and hopefully a EL final in Dublin. What a night that would be!

Never read anywhere else on any site anything about Klopp tapping up, If it was a huge issue would it not be made public? And by the main sports pages online?
Not sure he's any better or any worse than anyone else when it boils down to it, your not telling me this sort of thing doesn't go off at most big clubs, and I'm not condoning it by the way, It just seems a bit of a stick to beat Klopp with on here to me.

{Ed002's Note - van Djik got plenty of coverage. Meeting Bellingham's father got coverage. His visit to Monaco was well covered. Rather embarrassing for you.}

Ed001 and Ed002 have both explained Klopp continually tapping up extensively on this site. Because it isn't reported on main stream media it isn't true or isn't a huge issue?

Rum Lad, Klopp is a repeat offender, man. Let it go.

Not embarrassing for me I was just asking the question and a valid one, if it is the case then its embarrassing for Klopp for sure, I haven't sat with rose tinted on all season about the man, I think he's made dire decisions at times and I think he's lucky its been made out to be this overdue update and clear out, any other time I think he could have been gone already.
But he's money in the bank so to speak so we'll see what happens next, I suspect if this hasn't changed by xmas then his voucher to buy time will have run out.
Interesting summer coming up.

Seano, I just fully read your piece and bravo, monsieur for a job well done. If I could chime in a bit. On the backroom staff thingy, my fear is that cos Klopp is more personal than professional, he may not want to make changes to his staff. I read somewhere about great coaches who have been coaching this long, tend to keep people who probably shouldn't be there anymore around ONLY cos their bros. now and they like them on a personal level, not cos they are still able to do the job. Klopp may be this type of coach. I hope not.

Secondly on what expect, I totally agree with you. People need to stop comparing us to City or judge what we do thru the prism of what City do cos that is just a recipe for mental problems and unwanted misery for the reasons you described. I see people saying that we need to challenge for the title next season. For me, Im not so sure we can do that even tho, it is not impossible. We are in a rebuild and it took Klopp's first squad 3 years to challenge and beat City and take other trophies off them. This new squad is younger and may need the same amount of time esp. now that teams are getting better around us and City are pretty far ahead. As you say, "Let's just enjoy the ride". Peace and Love.

Gary Neville even mentioned about tapping up players on behalf of Fergie when he was on England duty. Let’s not kid ourselves. They all do it. Good article Seano, but you don’t seem to understand the reasoning behind the inverted full back tactic. It crests the overload and gives Trent more time to pick his passes. Also, it’s no coincidence that Fabinho’s form has picked up, as he’s got some help in there. Someone said Villa nworked it out. Maybe they did, but that was because our defenders haven’t adapted to it properly oyet. Teams don’t ‘work out’ Man City when they play it. That’s because their defenders are better at it or have been coached better to play it. Players like Ake and Akanji would not seem to better players than those we’ve got, but they play that system better.
