Oh god. don't know why but tielemans is being shouted at me by source.
I pray that this one doesn't happen. I thought he was going to arsenal?
Eds got anything on this?

{Ed002's Note - Youri Tielemans (CM) right now he will not sign a new contract so will be available this month at a reduced fee. His agent confirmed that there was interest from Real Madrid who are looking for a Luka Modric replacement, but they ha=ve turned their attention elsewhere. Interest from Spurs may remain, but they would likely not be a January option. Arsenal remain very keen and could make a January offer an he has been approached by a third party representing Newcastle, who also cannot be discounted. Interest of Manchester United has probably gone as both are looking at other midfield options but they will be back if they cannot get their first choice players. I suspect that Arsenal and Newcastle will continue to work on a transfer whilst Leicester continue to try and persuade him to sign a new contract. Wildcard might be a pre-contract agreement with Juventus. He is aware that other clubs, including Liverpool, have scouted the player but not declared an interest. Klopp has said that Liverpool are not looking for a midfielder; oh but they are; no they are not...................}

Maybe, just maybe, we can't all know more about this player than all the scouting teams at all those major clubs that Ed002 has just listed who are or have been interested?

Johnny, not every player fits with every system. As Ed002 said, we have scouted him but decided not to pursue any further. I'm happy with that. Scouting him doesn't mean we want him, just means we have checked him out. Given his contract was winding down and we would therefore get him below market value, scouting him was sensible.

I'm sure the scouts saw the same as us - doesn't have the high energy required for a Klopp midfield - so decided not to pursue. All good.

Tielemans is better than what we have, would be a good bargain which we know the out going owners like, would improve us straight away, makes sense to me.

Thanks ed. I have been told there is a good chance we will consider him for January.
Could be the latest panic pockets signing at Liverpool.

Tielemans doesn't improve our midfield engine.
We need runners and tacklers.
Why sign a player we don't need?

What we have got is not fit for purpose.
Tielemans is not fit for our purpose.
Go and get what we need instead.

If the club staff have decided we don't need runners and tacklers in our midfield then I they better get their CVs prepared as it's going to end in tears.

Being better than we have isn’t a very high threshold.

It is plain that we lack pace, mobility and strength in midfield, Tielemans answers none of those issues and has FSG desperation move written all over it.

This stinks of smoke and mirrors aimed at deflecting what's really going on.
Unless this is a case of stock piling in order to later sell, whilst padding the squad, this is a non mover.

I agree Lancaster. He’s not the dynamic box to box midfielder everyone wants in Jan but he would be more positive than Harvey Elliot has been the last few weeks.

I don’t want to getting into slagging off Harvey cause he’s only a kid with loads of potential btw. just feel he’s not ready for a starting spot in the midfield.

Doesn't really matter who we sign for midfield if the ta tics don't change. we really expect a energetic box to box player to come in and within weeks not adopt the mentality of the players we have now. I'm dubious.

20 goals from centre mid over the last 2 nd a half years, i'd imagine that's probably more than all our mids together. or at least very close. Would be really cheap yet make our group of midfielders stronger. Nowhere near 1st choice but at the moment if we can be improved without breaking the bank i'd take it.

Our entire 7 player centre mid roster have scored a combined 33 in the same time.

Not even against it at this stage 25 and better than all our 8s bar Thiago. Considering the money we’d need to spend in the summer he wouldn’t be too bad Rather Tielemans and 2 really good lads than 3 Amrabats or McGinns worst case scenario we flog him for 15m.

To be honest I’d take him at the moment given our current situation. I also think if a further two midfielder s were signed in summer he would still be a valuable squad player to have.

If a good fee can be agreed id take him.

I bet he wants a big wage on a free though.

So the answer to a midfield that is too slow and too weak, is to sign a midfielder who is slow, lazy and weak? Right?

VVVV How is he slow and weak? Not seen much of that and always seems to be in around the ball whenever I've watched Leicester and Belgium, let's not forget we are in this position because of lack of investment from the top, something I've been going on about for years yet for some reason people have only just started to see it? Took a lot of flack for challenging the owners but glad to see people are seeing it now, how anyone can defend 1 midfield player bought in 4 an half years i don't know.

Lancaster, I absolutely agree that midfield has been criminally under invested over the last 4 years, but the answer isn’t Tielemans.

He doesn’t track back, doesn’t press, hence he’s lazy and weak, I genuinely think Milner would beat him in a sprint and Milner’s legs are going. He has the occasional long range dig at goal which looks nice on the highlight reel but generally does as little as he can get away with.

{Ed025's Note - im with you on that one VVVV..

Ed’s can I ask a question? Why have Liverpool been so slow to refresh the midfield?

{Ed002's Note - Klopp has been clear there is no need. I disagree, but there we go.}

Ed002, I agree with you.
