If Barca get Rodri (unlikely) then I suspect Gavi will be our target at Barca and may be the signing that Victor alluded to.

This is based in the fact that I know Gavi isn't entirely happy and has been taking English lessons for a while. I don't know anyone at Barca except the guy giving him English lessons so some of this is guesswork.

Two of our non-homegrown contingent are currently being touted to clubs in Europe, on top of Gakpo, who is possibly on his way to Spurs. So we could see up to 4 non-homegrown players come in by the end of the window.

Hard pass on Gavi. Small, weak, lightweight & injury prone. Has had a pretty poor last three years with injury. As for De Jong, very hard pass, ridiculous wages, injury prone. Rather, we went for someone like Chema Andres, who is a big, physical, dominant defensive midfielder.

No way some of our homegrown players are still at the club after the summer. Just Tsimikas, Endo and Chiesa alone could be replaced by Chambers, Trey and Morrison and we'd be none the weaker.

Iraola has never used a big, dominant, physical defensive midfielder. He's always relied on technical and athletic midfield players. He turned Ryan Christie from a winger into a DM, and used Scott, Adams, and Toth there last season, so I don't get where this notion that he's going to change his philosophy by signing a physical monster in midfield has come from.

Disagree on Rodri. I think he's headset on leaving and Barca is the goal. His agent in fact said so himself! Hard pass on Gavi for Pool. He's not the right profile and will get totally outmuscled in the prem.

Don't forget that we have at least 2 more non-HG slots in the PL already (Jacquet and Leoni qualify as U21 for EPL, but not UCL) and in the UCL, we definitely won't be registering Ekitike for the end of 26, if his recovery is on track, he may be added in Jan 27 so we have 1 more slot there.



I'm certain that, as incompetent as we think our recruitment team is, they certainly won't allow us to fall foul of the HG/non-HG rules.

Ed. Surely there's no way that you truly believe that Tyler Adams is a physical player, he's more athletic than physical when he's able to play. Gravenberch is more physically imposing than Adams.

{Ed001's Note - if you say so. I think you are getting the two terms mixed up, Gravy is athletic but not physical at all. Adams is very physical but not so athletic, which is why he sat and allowed Scott to get up and down the pitch.}
