The game last night highlighted our performances that we now have to really look it. There's no "trolling" in stating the horrid way we play with brilliant flashy players. Nothing about challenging for the title etc, how we play is draining.
Why does it require elliot as a sub to inject "energy".
Our passing is shocking as times. I've said for about 2 years now there's a lot of times i question what gets done on the training ground because the excuse book is gone. There's too many games like last night our passing is soo poor. I don't care if we have 90% possesion. That football is a terrible watch. The results have gone our way and that's why I can't see klopp ever reverting us back to a klopp team. Not his mate yelling from the sidelines and promoting books.

On the plus side it is better than last season.

It's definitely much better than last season. We are in much better shape physically than last year. I don't think energy is an issue. There's plenty of that.

Really don’t understand some people’s perspective…. try to sit back and be less stressed.

We are not yet halfway through the season!

Plenty of games still to be played

Merry Christmas.

@FlyPelican We are definitely much better than last season, results wise. Yet sometimes I feel the saying the table never lies is a silly platitude. Because performances wise we have been just meh, flat, dull, uninspiring and quite frankly boring to watch, with last 10 minute winners seeing us chalk up 3 points after 3 points. I’m not complaining, well actually I am, in a way because is that really sustainable? That being said, if you told me at the start of the season that we would be 2 points off top spot a week before Christmas and would be playing the leaders at home in the upcoming game, I would have taken it.

I do however disagree with you on the energy comment. For example, for large spells against Manchester United you would have thought it was May and we were playing our last game of the season having walked the league by a wide margin of 20 points. That’s because tempo and energy was low. I honestly thought that would change after half time and we would come flying out the gates. But we came out with the same tempo and energy which was concerning, only to up the tempo and energy in the last 5 minutes of the 90.

MIZER, we are a work in progress and don't let the position we are in (as awesome as it is based on preseason forecasts) fool you. This is still a new team that is trying to figure things out and as always, these are growing pains.

Like the others said, it is a lot better than last season and since nobody thought we would be in second place 1 point off the top, that can only be positive as we continue to work to improve individually and collectively.

What working in progress @Oli ??. It’s going to be a hybrid for the rest of Klopp’s tenure at LFC. Like it or not that is the reality. Manchester United defended with 11 behind the ball and we wouldn’t break them down.
We still rely on a 32 year old winger to win us the games despite of having £200 mill worth attack upfront.

We had 34 shots with, I think 8 on target. That’s an astonishing amount of shots in a top level match against a, supposedly member of the big 6 (or are we up to 7 now) . On a different day we get the first goal and then they would have had it. They came not to lose rather than to try and win and, given their limited ambition they were successful.

As has been said by lots of people - including the club itself - we are a work in progress (like I opined last week, we are about 20 games in. ) of course people can offer ‘constructive’ criticism / opinions about how we can improve - that’s one of the fun things to go on the forum - but we aren’t anywhere near the finished article yet. When offering criticism it might serve to bear in mind that this is real people (all of whom, like our good selves, make mistakes, have off day, are sometimes ‘out of sorts’) not a computer game where people with strong thumbs and a de term us right hand can gain instant gratification.

New team or not we should have battered United yesterday.

Redflyer, we should be battering Utd, yeah? It is this type of self entitled stuff that does not help. If you think Utd was just going to lay down and let us batter them then, you did that to yourself, all by yourself.

As Harry has said, our goal is not to be just better than Utd cos that's already accomplished over the past 7 years overall. Our goal is to try to get back to the team we were competing and winning things hence, we are in a rebuild hence, we have a new team, like it or not. We have a new team and it will take time to gell. That is just the facts. Mine and your opinions do NOT matter here.

Truth is over the last few weeks we struggled to beat Palace and Fulham and couldn’t beat Luton or Utd.

I’ll be honest I’ve been a little blinded in our results over our performances but our build up play and attacking play is far slower and less cut throat than it was the seasons we were putting teams to the sword.

Agree with JK. The only passing triangle is between VVD, Konate and Allison!

There is no width, no pace in our play, playing into opposition hand in slowing the game down. I find myself continuously screaming play, play the ball, move it faster (it is a consistent theme for the past few games) - this is an aspect Matip is good at, despite his obvious short comings.

Do not get Trent tucking in to CM, and Szoboszlai going to RB slot either. Trent being at CM is not able to get down the line and put the dangerous crosses in.
Against low block, it is wasting his talent, as there is no space in behind for him to put in any through balls.

We end up seeing him trying too hard, putting in crosses from way out, which their CBs are dealing with easily, because as a DM, he can’t be bombing forward down the line leaving the team exposed.

Read that we have over 30 shots, but watching the game, there isn’t really any pattern of play, nor I recall many clear chances created, if any at all.

It feels we are relying on individual moment of quality to win the game, which we have gotten away with at times this season.

There are arguments that this system provide more defensive solidarity. Yes, but we will outscore most of the team either way. Watching how the game developed, there is higher chance of Utd hitting us on the break for a 1-0 smash and grab than us scoring!

The number of draws will come back to bite us at the end of the season. Hope I’m wrong though.
