If Salah where to go it would be a similar situation to the Coutinho move.
A direct replacement prob is not the answer. We will be left we 4 good attacking options with a reshuffle and we put the money into areas we a now vulnerable.
Salah is a once in a life time player but I do believe his goals can be replaced by Nunez if he plays in a system that suits his style.

I Honestly believe Salah will go as he will not want to miss out on this lucrative money move him and his agent have been craving for a number of year. But like every time we lose a star player someone is just waiting for their moment and with the right purchases with the money Nunez will be that man.

I don't think it's similar at all to the Coutinho move. Coutinho was a weak link in our team given he didn't track back. Great attacker with vision and a shot, but we were better without him in the team.

Agree its not about finding a replacement and changing the team if/ when he leaves, because there is no replacement for Salah.

Absolutely no chance that Salah leaves this window.

Agree Taurus. Salah has been different class for us over the last few seasons, to compare his time at the club with Coutinhos in an insult.

Lose Salah and end up with four good attacking options? Good? And options? Salah is miles better than good and is not an option.
Why not sell Alisson and buy a good keeper and a couple of back up options while we're at it?

I understand the comparison tho. If/ When Mo goes, that becomes more opportunity and playing time for someone else. And it's not like Jota / Nunez et al are useless.

When we sold Coutinho we had a few vulnerable areas, notably GK, CB and CDM (which we fixed with Allison, VVD and Fabinho) . I’m not sure we have any massive deficiencies now, although you can perhaps argue that ideally Endo should be a backup and not our starter at CDM.

Having said that, I do get your point that we have 4 very good forwards in Diaz, Jota, Nunez and Gakpo. It wouldn’t be a terrible starting line up compared to our main rivals and we’d survive, but it’s never a good thing to sell your best player.

If we had to bring in someone to replace him, I would personally go for a right footed RW as we have traditional CFs that would thrive on quality service, as opposed to someone who naturally prefers to cut in. Doku would have been a good option for us IMO (and seems quite similar in style to Doak albeit far more experienced and ready for the PL) .

It's easy to say we can manage without Salah when we don't have to.
If we can replace Salah with a player of similar quality, fair enough, but until then I can't see the sense in it.
If it's about money, don't forget we made a British record bid weeks ago.

I agree with you SG. But would it be to far fetched to move Trent further up the field to provide those passes and crosses and maybe invest i a good defensive right back? Just a thought.

Salah is staying this summer so for me, the question nor the comparison does not even arise. Also, Salah is not kicking up a face nor did he refuse to play vs Newcastle due to a bad back either. Just saying. No comparison, IMO.
