Buzzing for Darwin, what an excellent couple of finishes. Hope klopp rewards him with a start through the middle next week. We were poor today, but defended well with 10 and no Virgil. Only gave away a couple of chances, mainly to Almiron, but otherwise kept them quiet enough considering. We really need that midfield presence, Newcastle had it far too easy at the start. Like many years, feel we’re a couple short of a great squad. Not even sure we need more CBs would rather just go back to 433.

Firmane, how do you make that we were poor today? The game was pretty even, IMO and I also disagree cos we made the faster and brighter as well as having the first real chance with Diaz, I think. Then, Trent's howler messed us up and it goes downhill from there.

Also, how were we poor when we were the better side overall in the second half were we played better with 10 men than Newcastle did with 11 and finished the game a lot stronger than they did physically, esp.? You said it yourself that apart from Almiron, we kept them quiet. Sorry, Im not having that. Apart from that, very good post, man.

I agree with that Firmane. Also a shout to Klopp who earned his money again today. We’ve been critical at times for his subs but Nunez, Jota n Harvey changed the game at the right time.

Ofcourse we were poor. We looked rattled early on. We went behind due to extremely poor play. And then we went down to 10 men due to poor decision making and tackling by virgil. Alisson made his most ever saves in a game for us I'm not sure how you can perceive that as keeping them quiet? We were v v lucky to get away with 3 points today. 2 superb finishes by nunez. I think Newcastle and the crowd seemed to think the game was won at 1-0 11 against 10 and didn't go for the jugular and if you don't kill us off then we have the players in attack to create a chance. 2 games in a row now we've gone behind and down to 10 men and managed to dig ourselves out of it. Today's result was a miracle really how many much easier chances have we seen nunez miss than that and he manages 2 perfect strikes. Could be a massive moment in the season to get away with 3 points there in that manner and I hope it lights a fire up us because if we keep starting games like we did today some teams will put us to the sword.

For me, I can't read too much into how we start a game away from home at a top team, or any team for that matter. Home teams should be up for it and sometimes we just have to weather it and then get our foot into the game. sometimes we might start better. It's a 90min game and I think we need to rid ourselves of the idea that the standard is 90minutes of dominance.

Awesome all round. very mature and resilient in the second half to give ourselves a chance at the back end of the game.

I thought Newcastle pressed very well in the first half but would struggle to maintain that for the whole game. That’s pretty much how it played out even with us being down to 10. Amazing result playing with 10 men for so long!

I think we did very well to stay in the game considering we only had 10 men, and i think that showed maturity knowing that we may get chances as the game went on if we kept it to 1-0.

Do I think we played well? No, but I thought we made the most of a bad situation and took our chances when they came.

Few things which I found encouraging
1. DS and AM have got clear quality and improve kit side. They will be good signings.
2. Nunez showed everything you want from a player that’s been out the team. Great attitude and really pleased for him
3. Quansah have a good account of himself coming on. Gomez also did well baring the Almiron chance where I felt he allowed him to come inside too easy and shoot which was almost a goal, hitting the post
4. Alisson - god we are so lucky to have this man. Incredible player and leader
5. Trent found his feet as the game went on. Got the last laugh in the end with the win and wiped the smirk off Anthony Gordon’s face.

I thought we played well considering we had 10 men. The gameplay was always to try to keep it at 1-0 and nick something (the 2nd goal was a great bonus prize)

Redwills, I disagree. It took some freaking guts to get back in the game let alone get the win. If you think we were better than Newcastle were with 10 men thru out the second half and that it did not involve some great coaching and man management from Klopp and bravery from all those players including the kid Quansah then, you are off your rocker.

"Oh, they didn't go for the jugular" or "Today's result was a miracle". Absolute rubbish. Are you blind? They did go for the jugular BUT we shut them down each time by occupying the defensive spaces well and not getting caught out as a group. That's no miracle. That's down to management and good coaching and players executing the game plan. Miracles? You're reaching here, bro.

You also think Darwin was lucky with his finishes? Those finishes were absolutely sublime. Shearer said the first one was not even a chance and he executeded it to perfection. Yeah, I guess we were lucky with that too. You know why? Cos we freaking earned that ship by working our butts off. Yeah if that is what you call luck then, I agree. Give the team their flowers for pulling out a win from the jaws of defeat rather than working your butt off to slam them.

Oh and the Gomez you wanted gone, how was he today? He is still here and played a minor blinder today helping Quansah next to him. Not saying he has turned the corner but since you don't miss an oppo. to go after him, you should give him his flowers on this perf., at least.

Felt so good after the game. But I disagree Nunez should start. I'll stick with Gakpo to start up front.

Nunez and Jota look so good when come in as subtitutes.

The defense looked more solid after VVD sent off, coz after the send-off TAA no longer allowed to move into the middle.

Once again I am not 'off my rocker' and you should watch your language I am also not blind. I have to question if you even watched the game? Your statement that we kept them quiet and were the better team is wildly inaccurate. They were keot quiet? but alisson made a record number of saves? That is very suspicious. Newcastle had more than twice as many chances as us. Twice as many shots, twice as many shots on target and hit the post.
I'd like the great coaching to start when we have 11 vs 11 and to look the better team then.
Darwins finishes were great yes. Superb finishes. Two shots two superb finishes. I'm over the moon with them but I'm also aware that he has never done that before and it was a miracle like substitute performance that got us out of trouble and has papered over the cracks and allowed fans like you to pretend we deserved to win.
Not actually sure I've said I want gomez gone but you go putting words in my mouth again. I've said I think he should only play rb and he has been nowhere near his best for around 2 years now. What I said was that I didn't think matip or gomez could adequately cover konates position In this new system and I don't think I'm wrong. We may have to start gomez and matip for the next 3 games and I can't say that doesn't worry me a bit. I hope they play great and we keep a clean sheet for once but I'm allowed to express my doubts. Hopefully klopp can turn me from a doubter in to a believer again but your absolute waffle won't.
