Just seen a list of our homegrown players in our squad and with the possibility of Milner, Lallana, and Studge, going in the summer, surely we're going to have to buy some homegrown/ English players in the summer?

I guess it would make sense to keep Harry Wilson even just to help make up the numbers!

Anyone else have a bit more awareness on the rules and our current squad and potentially what we would need to do in the summer? From what I remember I didn't think you could just register a bunch of youth players?

Cheers,

{Ed002's Note - The maximum squad size for Over 21s is 25 - the maximum number of non HG players is 17. For now.}

Will those permitted HG numbers be changed anytime soon Ed002? And if so, what kind of figures are being discussed?

{Ed002's Note - A while ago Greg Dyke proposed decreasing it by four with two having to be youth products. That was rejected.}

Promoting some of the young lads surely couldn’t do any harm. Brewster, Wilson, Jones and Lewis surely couldn’t do any worse than Origi, Sturridge, Lallana and Moreno have when called upon this season.

AW - I'm sure they could perform in snippets. But we're talking about all year around, training, being legit options off the bench or to start games. I don't know if any of those youth can do that.

{Ed001's Note - that would be a lot more than Lallana has done and equal what Sturridge has done, so why not?}

Faithinworks ask yourself which group of 4 you'd rather have for next season, the younger group or Sturridge, Moreno etc. At least the young boys will play with some energy and eagerness and Wilson has being the best player of the lot this year.

Sturridge started the season so lively and so good. But I think he became uninterested as game started to pass. I don't know the reason but when called upon now he just seems to play out the game and go home.

Doesn't Robertson class as HG. I always thought Scotland was included in the HG quota. My assumption was it was UK not England which mattered for this. Might be wrong, I'm sure the eds could clarify.

Brewster, Wilson coming in next season with one or two others to be backup to current team would help. I think another 1 or 2 HG players would be good though. Backup keeper could be useful for this.

{Ed001's Note - Scotland does not count.}

Just realised Brewster doesn't need to be included in 25 man squad because he is Under 21.

Back in the 80's and early 90's home grown was any UK country and Ireland if my memory serves me correctly but one if the eds will correct me if I'm wrong.

Grabara homegrown?

{Ed002's Note - Grabara will count as HG when he reurns from loan.}

Sorry, should have asked of both together but would Kelleher also be homegrown?

{Ed002's Note - Yes. In simple terms the rules are currently, regardless where born, to be HG the player needs to be playing in England or Wales for a full three years between 16 and 21.}
