I've listened to the audio many times
Is it just me or did we only hear that the VAR ref said 'offside goal'. At no time did he say 'onside' until after the replay operator did so. Throughout the whole audio it seems only the operator said
1) it's onside
2) we have to stop the game (as informed by Oli)
3) we have to tell the ref

Seems the only one who was awake, sensible and was trying the do the right thing.

I can understand they want to keep the game flowing so it moving as fast as they can. But at no time in the audio did I hear VAR say, 'onside' but I did hear twice 'offside goal'. He only seemed to changed his mind and words after the operator said it's onside.

So we are back to where we started. Were they just utterly incompetent or corrupt? The audio has only left even more questions.

Yeh he said he played him offside.
Unbelievable.

But they have never done a check as fast before. I reckon in similar decisions the average time taken would be well over a minute, probably 1 minute and 30 seconds.

The more I listen to it the more angry I become.

And yet people want to let it get shovelled under the carpet, andmove on. Until the next time. Or if it costs us a top 4 place, or the title. What then?

If we miss out on top 4 then we miss out. We’re good enough to be finishing top 3, top 2 for me still. If we’re in a battle for 4th it won’t be due to a dropped point in this match.

The real win is for a shake-up to be had in the referees and their guidelines. That should be the change we all want not trying to change the result of one game. Because there is no way to know that had we got that goal that we would have drawn or won the fame.

So i think everyone is in agreement that the VAR fooked up big time, they clearly weren’t even watching the game in real time otherwise they would have known that the goal was flagged for offside, it is literally impossible to miss if you are watching in real time!

It’s abundantly clear that communication was the biggest factor here, people talking over each other constantly and nobody using full sentences?

My biggest issue here is the lies and cover up from PGMOL. Firstly we are supposed to believe that the on field ref wasn’t told of the error until half time? Not for 1 second do I believe that! Sky did a piece on Monday night football where they ran through the timeline to the second and did a close up of the on field ref at the exact moment where VAR were calling for the game to be stopped ( Liverpool throw in) . Not only is it clearly written all over the refs face that he is being given bad news but he also holds his earpiece at the exact moment all this back and forth is going on between VAR! This isint conspiracy rubbish this is plain to see.

Now you can call me synical but I don’t believe this is the first instance where something like this has happened! I truly believe that PGMOL would have tried to cover this up ( remember lines were drawn for VAR but none were broadcast? ) only for Bein sport did their own checks etc in real time and live tweeted what had happened I genuinely believe this would have been swept under the carpet or blamed on a technical issue.

Finally for anyone calling for VAR to be scrapped remember that this goal was ruled out as offside by a linesman who was perfectly in line with play, looking straight across the line with nobody obstructing his view!
