Gakpo appreciation post. How good does he look now he's settled?

It's like Firmino reincarnated. Fair play because it seemed like a silly signing in January when we needed a midfielder more importantly. But there was clearly a plan for him to replace Bobby and when the opportunity was there, they pounced and got their man.

With 6 goals already and another 6 games to play he could very realistically finish the season on double figures despite only joining in January. He's really clicking into gear the last 3 or 4 games. We saw the signs in the 7-0 drubbing of United that he could be special.

Klopp has also praised his attitude and mentality. His English is immaculate. Just a superb bit of business and i hope he has a long and successful career at our club.

Had my doubts first few games, but has really got going since that 1st goal. Already looks a bargain, hope he gets double figures.

He has looked a different player ever since we started playing him centrally. The issue with his early performances was he was being played on the wing, and he didn't suit that at all in our system imo. He isn't lightning quick or skilful. However, he is very press resistant, tall and strong, and a good finisher. Skills much more suited to the CF position.

I went to the game last night, on the half way line row 1 in the middle of a load of West Ham mates. Slightly difficult to get a full appreciation of the game but Cody really stood out to me. Received the ball well, good awareness of what's around him, very hard to get the ball off him and ultimately a well taken goal.

The great thing is, he hasn't reached his ceiling yet. If he can become as good defensively as Bobby was and really nail his passing he could become one of the best players in the world.

He's been steadily improving game by game. Probably needs to work a bit more on his fitness as he does fade in games but that shouldn't be too difficult to sort out.

Never any doubt about gakpo. he has the class. Still think he's better on left but we'll see. Better midfielders will create a lot more space for the forwards and hopefully quicker.

yes MK, very good player and I think is settling into our #9 role well.

I've maintained all season that the key issue this on the pitch for us has been our forward line. Just a totally different group, especially with injuries to Jota, Bobby and Diaz missing significant time. Our press starts with the forwards but they have been out of sync all season with a few exceptional performances at random times.

I'm filled with lots of confidence for next season because the forward line would have had another season and pre-season to play our way and it will serve us well.

The one downside I see is how we fit Nunez into all of this.
