Ed002
With just one day of 2023 left, it would be welcomed if you could provide a final list of available defenders that Liverpool have scouted/ researched for this coming window and what it would take to secure their services.
Best wishes for 2024 mate, I will get in before the barrage of well wishes commences tomorrow ??.

{Ed002's Note - Here we are - firstly I am by no means convinced that Liverpool would jump in to a major CB buy in January - it can be a difficukt time and perhaps money could be wasted on an alternate option. Quansah contiues to emerge. Players the club are looking to include a mix of serious high end and perhaps January is not the right time.
Goncalo Inacio (CB) Watched by scouts from a number of PL sides, including Liverpool and Manchester United, with the latter declaring an interest. Sporting will not be keen to do business with Liverpool although the club could potentially pay his full Release Clause and force the situation if the player is interested. The other sides to declare an interest are Newcastle and PSG, but PSG have a plan over another player. Real Madrid offer a wildcard option. Sporting would rather not sell and are looking to a new contract and an increased release clause. Newcastle have begun talks with Sporting in order to be able to speak directly to the player and to understand if there is flexibility in the payment schedule – it seems most unlikely that will be successful. Arsenal interest would have departed with the signing of Timber. The player has also been offered to Chelsea by his agent when discussing another player, but they have preferred options for a long-term Silva replacement. The player is open to a move to Manchester United. Perhaps in the summer for a huge fee they may be willing to sell.
Piero Hincapie (CB) Interest of Nottingham Forest will go nowhere. Scouted and rejected by Spurs as not being ready for the Premier League, but he may well be now. Open to a move to Liverpool as they look for cover but his expectation is to be a starter and their interest is not as advanced as supporters think with no agreement reached for January. Milan and Roma have both sent scouts. If they sell in January there will be a significantly high expectation in terms of a fee. The club will look to hang on to the core of Tapsoba, Hincapie and Tah until at least the summer although now only being a bit part player Hincapie may try for a January exit but I cannot imagine the club accepting it.
Perr Schuurs (CB) Recovering well from an ACL injury may see him return before the end of the season and interest of Liverpool and Spurs my return in the summer. With changes coming at Manchester United they can now be discounted. Crystal Palace remained concerned that they will lose Marc Guehi and could look to him.
Jean-Clair Todibo (CB) Various scouts, including a very high-end independent scout and ex-PL player who has recently been helping Manchester United and Liverpool together with scouts from Newcastle, Aston VIlla and Lyon have been looking. Bayern Munich, Spurs, Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United have declared an interest, but Nice are still looking for perhaps €50M to sell and Manchester United have a preferred first choice addition - so they would likely make two additions at CB over two windows. Spurs might provide a wildcard option but I would expect Liverpool to look to other options first so would completely discount him.
Antonio Silva (CB) Benfica say that "many scouts" have been to watch the player - perhaps they are looking for someone to pay his €100M buy out clause - a move at that price seems unlikely but PSG are keen. Juventus and Napoli would want a reduction in the asking price to make any move viable. Looked at by Spurs and Manchester United, and first choice for the latter. For Liverpool perhaps a Konate replacement rather than a Matip replacement - so really unlikely.
Bafode Diakite (RB/CB)) Scouted by Liverpool. Very versatile - but not for January after injury.
Leny Yoro (CB) Lille kiddie who already has PSG, Chelsea and Real Madrid in declaring an interest. May have been noticed by Liverpool when scouting another player against Nantes, but no declared interest. Lille will resist a sale but Manchester United have a high-end scout attending games.
Lloyd Kelly (CB) Free Agent interesting Spurs, Milan, Borussia Dortmund and West Ham. Wildcard may be Fulham, Newcastle or even Liverpool. Home Grown.
Lucas Beraldo (CB) Agent says a representative of Liverpool approached him about the Sao Paulo player having taken notice when scouting another player in a game against Palmeiras. Agreed a move elsewhere.
Cheick Doucoure (DM/CB) Working had to resolve language issues. Crystal Palace have told Monaco, who want him to replace Fofana if he departs, that he is not for sale but will discuss offers over £70M. Clearly a deterrent and beyond what anyone would pay. Liverpool may still see him as an option, but not at that price. Out until the summer.

Doesn't matter who we buy, Klopp and team will turn him into franco Baresi. No problem. In Klopp we trust.
