Festive greetings all! Eds, have you seen enough of Bakayoko to tell whether he’d be an addition to LFC worth making?

{Ed002's Note - He is on the list but not at the top to replace Salah.}

Thanks Ed002. Can you tell us who is top of the list? I remember you saying Sane was there before. Is that still the case?

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

Bakayoko would be a really good choice if we intend to strengthen there.

Prefer Baka or Bowen to Sane. Good player I just don't think he'd be a good fit.

I'd put money on us not signing Sane. He'll just be another on Klopp's wishlist that never materialises like Gotze, Brandt or Adama.

I don't know why people are getting so excited about Bakayoko. He's nowhere near ready. He's scored 3 in 26 games for a Dutch side this season. That's poor. There's no way he can replace Salah.

I think Kudus, Nico Gonzalez or Kubo would be better options. Or even an indirect replacement to add something else to the attack like Kvaratskhelia or Wirtz and let Elliott have a crack at right-wing with Doak and Gordon as back-up while we wait to see if better alternatives come up on the market.

Or Bab, maybe go two up top? We don't see it much anymore but I certainly think we have the personnel to do it. I think Gapko is a great link up player but not one to lead the line alone.
I'm not sure we have the players to stick with the 433 we used to play, but I certainly think we could do a 442 or 4222 that drops into a 4231 when defending.

Yeah Westwood, I agree that we will probably have to get creative and change things up when Salah leaves. Our new wingers don't score as many as Salah and Mane to play 433 with a false 9. I think Klopp foresaw this and that's why he signed Nunez to play as a traditional 9 to alleviate the goal scoring burden. That's why I'm disappointed in the potential move of Nunez to the left-wing. It's kind of an admission that he's failed in the role he was brought in to fulfill. With all due respect, the left-wing is a much easier position to find a high-level player for than either the right-wing or central striker.

I prefer Florian wirtz or Serhou Guirassy.

Actually Ziyech could also be an option, he has premier league experience and is ajax product and intelligent player over all.

{Ed001's Note - I really hope not. I would rather we looked for someone good enough.}

I don’t think that waiting to see what happens is how the best businesses work @Babbity. More a case of having a vision of what they want and the creating and executing a plan to achieve their goals, mate.

I fancied Ziyech as a Salah replacement before he signed for Chelsea. but one of the eds said that he was a tw@t I also fancied Kulesevski before he signed full time for Spurs.
I am now thinking maybe get Ivan Toney in this window to help us over the line and maybe Doak or Elliot on the right after Salah leaves.

If the right player isn't available in the summer @WDW, we can't just magic them out of thin air. It is what it is. We also shouldn't sign a second-rate player. We have already shown several times now that we are prepared to wait for the right player and i expect them to do the same for Salah's replacement.

Bowen for me - experienced left footed right winger who works hard and scores goals, he will fit very well with our current setup.

I think Bowen would be a good addition to our squad I feel he has another level to go to .

I feel Diaz needs to step up everyone is focused on Nunez and I know the lad has had a tough time with the issue with his dad and injuries but he needs to do more I think . His goal and assist return is below what I’d expect for us . But the lad is super talented and their is a clinical finisher in their ??.

I would quite like to see Diaz on the right for an experiment. He’s tricky but seems more of a classic winger than a goal scorer IMO and teams are just covering his cutting inside which means he’s struggling to have as much of an impact as he used to when he first arrived. I feel using his pace to get in behind defences might be more impactful down the right and he can put crosses into the box for Jota and Nunez who are more traditional strikers.
