Personally I think £20mil is too low.
The mega wealthy Saudis want our club captain who has won every elite trophy there is, with 2yrs left in his contract where we had no plans to sell then they need to cough up.

10-15 is about right I’d have thought he is 33 and realistically 2/ 3 more years max at a good level . Plus if their paying him 700k a week their not going to be wanting to spend any more than 15 I’d think.

Surely any fee at all is a bonus. Leaving for free obviously isn’t ideal but if he stays we just pay him 20m over the next two years in wages and he then goes for free anyway. I don’t think what he offers on the pitch any more is that hard to replace he’s probably 7th or 8th choice with Fabinho Thiago Bajcetic Macallister Szoboszlai Jones and Elliott. Replacing Fab would be much more important.

Maybe it’s about rewarding the player for his services that we let him go for possibly less than his value- I think ed1 alluded to that being why they thought he’d go on a free. Maybe 20 is good for both teams. I’ll be sad to see him go. And to the league he’s going but he’s earned his right to do what he wants I guess. I wonder how it’ll effect his chances for England.

Holding out for 10 million more for Hendo makes no sense.

Take the 10 million and save 20 million in wages over the next two years.

No one is going to be paying any money for him next summer.
