Is it me or does every time something like racist chanting happen FIFA seems to have to lay stupid marginal charges on both teams, almost like it is both sides fault somehow that the fixture turned out to be a mess? Burying racism amongst multiple ‘faults’ by both sides does nothing but make the core issue seem less important somehow and give the culprits the ability to rationalise that what they did somehow wasn’t all their fault or maybe that it wasn’t even all that bad.

Given the coach and keepers comments, this runs far deeper than just a few fans and its becoming an almost constant feature around word football. FIFA needs to stop messing about and start banning countries with multiple offences.
