Taiwo Awoniyi has joined Mainz for the season.

That's fourteen permanent departures and nine loan moves so far this summer. Harry Wilson should be announced to-morrow, Ryan Kent may well join Leeds Utd on Thursday or Friday (permanent) .


I suspect that there will be a number of loans to overseas clubs up to the end of August.

Hopefully at Mainz Awoniyi will get decent playing time and get some Nigeria call-ups. His association with Liverpool will come to nothing otherwise.

It was surprising given his form that he wasn’t called up, and also surprising its taken this long to announce.

Haven’t seen him in any photos at Melwood where has he been for 4 months!
