Well after watching DDG saving United to keep them in the tie, I would love the club to put more effort in securing a top class keeper in the summer. Navas is not an upgrade on Karius. I know Navas has won many things at Real so has Pedro who has looked bang average at Chelsea.

We are at a crucial stage as a team and as a club and a few good additions would seriously take us to the next level and GK is one of the most important in the list. For me Navas is a flapper and we have been on the receiving end of this thanks to Mignolet. We need a real pedigree at the back. It's all about priorities and GK along with full backs are our top most priority for the summer.

It's strange. 32 teams fight for CL and 48 fights for EL and we are left with no one to even consider for the GK.
It's not lik there is a real scarcity of GK out there.
Heard Napoli is interested in Leno to replace Reina.

Actually Napoli are interested in Mignolet to replace Reina believe it or not. Actually i agree about Keylor Navas being a flapper, he flaps at the easiest of shots but if it's who klopp wants, their is nothing you and i could do other than back the manager, i know you don't but i do though. Maybe Karius will continue improving and Keylor Navas ends up replacing Mignolet on the bench, no one knows.

How much do you think we can offer Napoli for Reina with mignolet in part exchange?

Harry - seems odd that you comment on Navas not being good enough, but then talk about how many teams there are in the EL and CL so there must be more better keepers out there. But Navas has won the CL twice in the past 2 years, so either you have to accept that he's not as bad a keeper as you're making out (or your stance on Karius has softened), or your judgement of where a top keeper has to come from is way off. Sorry I may be totally missing the point and happy to reconsider it but the team with Navas did the best out of the combined 80 teams youve mentioned as goalkeeper sources for us in each of the past two years so I'm a bit confused as to the connection between the number of teams and the quality of keepers that you're trying to draw.

BD, top class GK ain't going to happen as no one would sell them to you so you can forget that happening. Also, watched Allison vs Chaktyar last night and were it not for him, Roma would have been out of the tie BUT as Ed02 has saaid, Roma won't sell and he is a non starter. Again, proves my point that NO club will sell their top GK, end of.

DDG has been improving since he was in his early 20's, being in a team with a good system to protect him while he honed his skills. You can't fast track that regardless of whatever you think as those of us who live in reality, know it does not work that way.

To me, it's about time we actually invest from within as in if Karius gets it done this season, we help him grow and realize his potential and stick by him cos the kid is talented and very competent (Ed01's terminology) . Just my opinion.

I kinda agree with you BRover ( I can’t believe myself ) Sell Migs, Keep Ward and improve Karius. Save the money ( Navas is no big improvement on Karius ) . But all we could hope that Klopp thinks this way! He won’t and I am certain he would buy Navas only to break Karius confidence.

Hjikle
My point is there are lot of keepers in Europe to consider.

You have two points there. One, I don’t blindly trust anyone let alone Klopp! My past experience of blind trust lead me to back on Charlie Adams and Lazar Markovic's. Point number 2 is more of a question. Would Navas even consider playing second fiddle to Karius?

If we only want a Back up then Ward is free and you save good money on it. anyways! I am sorry but are we buying a back up GK? Klopp liking a player has no relevance to our opinions.

Hjikle, Madrid won in spite of Navas. He’s been their weak point for over two years. His shots saved to goals conceded ratio is really poor. He makes basic errors every match and has cost Madrid points on several occasions, given that he’s poor on crosses, is easily beaten and makes lots of basic errors, it makes no sense to waste money on him if he’s not an improvement on anyone on the books. Given that he’d have done as badly on the mistakes that Mignolet has been slaughtered for and made worse then it’s a waste of money signing him, as it would be £25m+ to sit on the bench once the errors start happening and believe me, we wouldn’t be waiting long. The first cross in the box or direct free kick he would mess up.

That's a fair point, but when we are considering a keeper that's been in a team ruling Europe for two years you don't think its a keeper of an acceptable standard. I appreciate the general point, but with that in mind would you say it's fair to suggest that by commenting on how many teams there are in the CL and EL, you're somewhat exaggerating how many would actually be an improvement on Karius? Definitely not arguing with you that it can be done, 50/ 50 on how vital it is that it's done and reserving some judgement until the end of the season, but I definitely think if you believe Navas is no improvement then you've definitely overstated the potential pool - in reality, there is probably more like 10 keepers not perfectly secure at a top club that could improve us.

Doubt Keylor Navas would cost anywhere near 25 million £, he is 31 or 32 and Real Madrid are doing all they can to get rid. But you seem to have watched a lot of Madrid games and its worrying. Goalkeepers really are Klopp's blind spot.

Hjikle,

Again my policy is simple. If we could attract, Lemar, Kieta and VVD, then we could easily attract top 10 GK’s in Europe. Do you agree? Navas in not even inside top 30 let alone top 10. We have a very good team and we are at a stage where we need players that will cement us inside top 3 for the next decade or so! Buying a back up?

Sure, we could stand still and stick with the same squad next season and expect the same outcomes.

Or we could try to improve our weaknesses.

GK is number 1 weakness we could improve on in my opinion.

This is random, but Newcastle has a new goalkeeper, if we're only looking for a back up for Karius!
