Hi Ed's,

I was just wondering if you could give me your views on what makes a productive loan move.

e. g. Ejaria's possible loan move to Sunderland.

I see the things that can have an impact; training facilities, game time, quality of opposition and teammates, manager abilities.

but would you ever see sending someone to someone like Sunderland as negative due to their league position or anything else?

{Ed001's Note - it really depends. Number one is wanting them to play regularly, that is the key. You want them playing as much as possible to gain experience on the pitch.

Secondly it depends on the player and what his weak areas are in his game. He might need toughening up, so you would send him to play for a team with a robust approach etc.

The quality of facilities etc can be a bonus, again though depends on the player, some players need to be brought down to earth so you would want them to go somewhere to teach them about lower league level etc.

Some coaches and managers would not want to send players to be involved in relegation battles, personally I think players learn more in adversity. The key though is the type of coaching they will receive, will it reinforce the lessons you are trying to give to the players or will they oppose them?

To go back to the initial question though, a productive loan move is one that improves the player, as a player and person.}

Agree with Ed001 on seeing Ejaria play several times. This lad has brilliant technical ability and stands at over 6ft. I would say he needs a tough challenge like this to make him tougher and hopefully developed his off the ball game. If he can improve on these areas there's no doubt he has the ability on the ball and physical presence to be a really good player at championship level at least I'd say.

Agree with all that thanks!

do we know if anyone has approached us over Wilson on loan?

And I’m surprised we aren’t actively trying to move on jones as he is 22 now and needs to be playing regular football rather than taking the place of someone else.

{Ed001's Note - there was a lot of interest in Wilson but nothing has come of it so far.}
