How anyone can say Mahrez wouldn't be good enough for us is beyond me, he carves defenses apart from out wide or through the middle. Would be a great replacement if Coutinho went.

People don't doubt his ability, they doubt his mentality. He spent most of last season doing precisely nothing, and if he doesn't get a move from Leicester, he'll probably do the same again this season once the window is shut.

He's nothing like Coutinho. Coutinho is a number 10, always has been. Mahrez is a winger.

Players to hand in a transfer request:

Van Dijk
Coutinho
Mahrez

Players still putting a shift in for their team:

Mahrez.

His skill set would work well as a 10 too, he doesn't rely on pace for his skill.

That's a good point kopite.

{Ed001's Note - though that does not tell the full story. The other two have made comparatively big money moves in the past that would have meant neither of them should have any financial worries. Both have earnt enough to be set for life. Mahrez came from the second tier of French football, was signed on the cheap and has not been earning a wage comparable with the other two either. He has to earn his living or his family will go hungry, the other two can afford to miss out on a few weeks' wages.}

Ed, that doesn't change the fact he is being more professional.

{Ed001's Note - I never said it does. I was just pointing out that he does not have the option to miss games like they do. Would he be so professional if he did not need the money ie after he gets his move?}

Ed I'm sure after a couple of years on 40k a week, you could have nothing coming in for a few months and people would hardly starve,

At the same time I have no idea what his wages are.

{Ed001's Note - his wages were significantly less than that. You forget they signed him from the second tier in France, which is equivalent to our League 2/Conference National in terms of wage structures, in the main. You are talking about a player earning a few hundred pounds a week that signed for a Championship club that was not cash rich at that time. He has had a pay rise for last season, but it is not the same as having had a big move, like VVD and Couts, which would have paid a signing fee of hundreds of thousands.}

Mahrez will not fit the no. 10 role the way we play it. Cou fits it well as he has been here for 4 yrs, developing himself and his game to fit into it.

Mahrez will only work had we not signed Salah or Mane. BTW, his mentality is crap and does not work had enough when he does not have the ball. We shall see what happens after he gets his payday, if he gets one.

Mahrez is an incredible player, but i don't like his attitude. He just downed tools last season.

Having said that, at a club like Liverpool he might be happier as it carries more prestige.

A front 3 of Mane, Salah and Mahrez with Firmino just behind would be absolutely lethal. There is no doubting that in my opinion. Their movement, pace, skill and vision would be enough to take even Juventus or Madrid to pieces.

Fair point ed001.

{Ed001's Note - thanks.}
