Hi eds and reds hope you are all well.
Bit of an odd question today but was just wondering what you thought of now a day commentators? Because I don't half miss listening to Andy grays commentary and recently Martin Tyler's commentary has really started to annoy me considering some of the great goals we have scored coutinhos free kick, manes first goal and hendersons worldie etc. He just seems so uninthsuastic when we score or win yet I remember when martial scored his first goal against us he went absolutely wild. Don't know whether it's just me but I'm just not a fan of any current commentators right now and would like other people's opinions on this.
Hope you all have a great day guys.

Totally agree, Martin Tyler is so anti Liverpool it drives me mad, always has something negative to say about Liverpool.

Pearce is cracking. It's like watching an entertaining version of robot wars!

Agreed though. I miss Andy Gray.

BT Sport could not have gotten it any worse. Michael Owen and Robble Savage are worse than awful.

Got to rate Garry Neville for how unbiased he is when talking about city and us. Fair play to him.

Agreed Andy grey was awsome.

Bt sport is poor across the whole roster.

Ian Darke and Peter Drury are good commentators, but they get put with dross like Robbie Savage.

Glad it's not only me who Thinks tyler is negative! Winds me up so much! And I agree guys Neville is decent to be fair and Owen and the rest of bt are awful.
Bt should definitely try get gray on board would love to hear him commentate again. Shame he cocked up at sky.

{Ed001's Note - Gray earns a fortune for BeIn Sports in Qatar along with his hairy misogynistic partner.}

I always loved both Barry Davies and Brian Moore. In fact, I keep going on you tube to find commentaries from the late 80s just to hear the excitement in Brian Moore's voice - he was even excited when reading out the team line ups. Always remember Brian for his line 'and its in there! '. think of your own scenarios for when this might apply.

Tyler and Grey are both vile. And rubbish commentators. Owen and Savage? Quite how BT managed to put together quite such an inept team is a miracle in itself. Hoddle as sumeriser always sounds like he's in mourning at a funeral. For me the MOTD team are ok, and Neville is excellent. Hated him as a player, but hats off to him, he is very good on tv. Carra shouldn't go without a mention, he has really grown into his role.

I find owens voice so boring. Was thinking about doing a tape to help me get to sleep. It's a complete borefest.

I actually would prefer no commentators.

I look forward to when BT or Sky offer a feature of turning off commentators but not the stadium sound. If I can't be at the ground then the next best thing for me is to hear it through my tele with my mates at home, I don't want to have to listen to poor and unnecessary commentary.

As if commentators add any real value to the watching experience now anyway. All our TVs are good enough to see what's going on and their football knowledge is pretty basic anyway, they're not saying anything that adds any value to the viewing experience.

Make them optional I say.

{Ed001's Note - agreed.}

Was about to post an identical post to puzzled then.
Can't stand commentary it's so boring, it's all so and so passed to so and so, now so and so has the ball. Yeah I know that I have eyes. Lol
Sorry but Jonathan Pearce is the worst for me, his voice goes right through me.

The only thing worse than the dross commentating these days is the constant replays. BT sport are the worst for it - they feel the need to show a corner 3 times, so more often than not you end up missing a decent passage of play.

I know it's a blast from past but I always enjoyed listening to BARRY DAVIES as a commentator.

The current day mob leave me frustrated
Especally Hoddle. He always says what a player should have done, like he is superior to them.

Good shout puzzled would love to be able to switch off the commentary as you say now a days it is pointless and boring.
Also quite miss the fan zone commentary as well now thinking about it!

Owen Hargreaves ain't too bad seems pretty unbiased when he's on the rest of bt I can't stand.

I like John Champion, Steve Banyard and Peter Drury as commentators, personally. The rest? I`ll pass, thank you.

puzzled that post baffles me. i'm a fan and i'm involved in the game at a low level but if you didn't want opininion on the team why are you here, because that's what this site is about and any info or criticism you can get on our team will make us better do u not realise that especially from commmentary unpopular to the fans. i love when commentators criticise liverpool just as much as i do when they adore us for to get better u need difference of opininion and shrewd brutality, it brings out the best in managers and teams.

They all talk far too much nonsense and they have to in order to justify their opinion (and the job itself) . Few if any offer anything resembling either insight, interest or expertise - this goes especially for ex-players: just because they played the game does not mean they can either talk about it or that they properly understand the intricacies of it. I agree with the comment about the MOTD commentators - they're tolerable - but especially with the comment about getting rid of them altogether. I'd also like the half-time analysis to stop in favour of a looped replay of the halfs highlights until the 2nd half begins.
