Morning reds,

I have a question for you.
In the likely scenario that Moreno moves on and chilwell is signed.

Would you rather A. ) we signed another more experienced left back?
Or B. ) chilwell, Gomez, smith and flannaghan when he is not covering RB fight for the spot?

I'd be happy for chilwell to come and another experienced first tramer if the view is that moreno is being sold.

I will be satisfied with just one. I'll choose B.

If Moreno is moved out then definitely option A, with another experienced signing. Jonas Hector sounds just about right. However, B is not so bad considering that both Clyne and/ or Flanaghan can cover the left back position if needed. I would actually start Flanaghan on the left before easing Chilwell in, but that leaves the dilemma of a backup for Clyne.

I really don't see chilwell coming to us to play second fiddle? If that's the case why not stay with the new league winners and have a chance to play champions league etc! I can't see Moreno leaving either, why would we sell a player that publicly messed up in the final and his value will be low. The lad has potential and is young, why not let them fight it out to claim the lb spot for years to come? Would be a breath of fresh air having 2 top talents fighting it out over what's been our problem position for a long time.

I like Chilwell a lot and fully believe could slot straight in as our first choice left back. I know people will say he couldn't get in at Leicester but he was up against the best lb (this season) in the league. Remember Sturridge / Coutinho couldn't get a game for their sides before coming, are they bad players? Have faith in this lad, he has bags of ability and is going to be top drawer, whether that be at us or elsewhere.

There has been no indications yet from the manager on Moreno getting sold. So chill. He isn't moving out. We have handed Smith a new contract and he needs to play . If Chilwell comes in then that would be out Quota on the LB unless someone offer us a decent money on Moreno and Klopp decides to sell him which is not the case now.

We will have 3 LB for the upcoming seasons in all probability.
1. Moreno
2. Smith
3. Chilwell.

I'd let Smith try and compete for the 1st team position with Chilwell and try and improve his game. The lad looks willing and has shown promise when given a chance. I'm not saying Smith is an incredible left-back at the moment just that he has shown enough to be given more chances - buying 2 left-backs seems overkill and a waste of funds when we have Smith who could, with some work, turn out to be good cover (or even force his way into the team as a starter) - has he done much wrong not to be given the chance?
