Hi Eds, from recent posts its clear that the treatment of Lucas by BR has ignited the cinders under BR's man-management skills or lack of. I've never played sport professionally & often hear stories about the Crazy Gang some of whom famously disliked each other but gave 100% on the pitch but in this era I know, from 20 years of teaching, that a harmonious group of young men, that respect each other & those in with authority over them, usually achieve far more than a unhappy group. I think it will be a make or break season for BR. Thanks.

You could argue that this will be the third season in a row that has been make or break for him. So I wouldn't be too concerned on that front.

"Should be top 4 with 300M having been spent": this is simply not correct, LFC have the 5th most expensive squad after allowing for ins/outs, so if all the top 5 teams perform to their nominal level then we come 5th.
In fact it gets tougher than that, LFC have the youngest squad by far of the to 5 and many new players to integrate this season, so you could well say that 5th would be a good result.
But in sport anything is possible, and if one of the top 4 falters (as both Manu and arsenal did last year) and if we get things right tactically and the players gel, then let's hope we're in the chase all the way.

Generally I think you must be right. But I've heard from one of the 2003 rugby World Cup winners that some of those guys hated each other. They haven't met up one time since the final and the bits that went immediately after.

And that was probably the best rugby side ever. Ever ever.

But for sure harmony is a better strategy b

Absolute tosh quantum. We have spent more than Arsenal anyway!! Look at the squad Rafa won the Champions League with and got us to top ranked team in Europe with; a top manager makes all the difference. How do you account for Valencia or Atletico winning La Liga?! By your reasoning that didn't happen

League position always correlates well with wages budget and not transfer budget

We should just pay the likes of Kolo and Enrique higher wages so that we cumulatively pay more that all of the others, and that should be enough to finish ahead of Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Do you see the flaw in your reasoning, Ron and quantum1?

Quantum.

So what's the solution. Spend more to get more?

What reasoning?

League position correlates well with wage budget.
That's not "reasoning" that's a fact.

You've extrapolated your own scenario from the facts. Don't bring me into it

No it does not, Ron. We were second two years ago with the smallest squad among the top four having spent less than Utd and Chelsea and we still finished ahead of them. You have failed again in giving your BFF a pass. He is the manager, spends the money, picks the players and the tactics. It's all his fault if he fails but I know you and your ilk have such a hard time believing that or accepting it.

Ohio, go and look at all 20 clubs over the course of the premier league and their wage budgets.
Don't try and use 1 club over 1 season and say there's no correlation.
That's just someone who doesn't understand mathematics.
