Just wanted to mention a couple of things on yesterday's game that I was really enthused by. Firstly the obvious, the signings of Mac and Szobo are transformational, potentially game changing. Szobo will get the headlines and rightly so, he is absolute magic. Although part of me will always be gutted about Jude, we got the next best thing on the market as far as I'm concerned. But Mac Allister is also brilliant, in many ways he's the perfect midfielder. He just does everything by the book, his decision making is incredible and from what I have seen so far he has an uncannot ability to do everything that is needed on and off the ball, every time without fail.

A word for Endo too, who looked far more comfortable today. If he's going to be a 10-20 minute player who comes on to shore things up, then I think it will really work out.

Are we seeing signs of the system starting to work? I think it was perfect for the opposition we're playing, and shouldn't necessarily be the go-to every game. But when people talk about a Plan B they usually mean 'lump it up to the big man'. However, it seems like we have a proper plan B, which is something we could have benefitted from throughout Jurgen's reign.

Joe Gomez - looking far more like the Gomez of old, really good start to the season from him and young Quansah is looking like a great option too.

Finally, if we're going to keep the ball as well as this then perhaps we don't even need a destroyer. If anything a Caicedo-type player would have inhibited us yesterday, he does not have the ability to look after the ball as well as someone like Curtis Jones (hopefully Gravenberch falls into that category too, I'm sure he will) .

There are a lot of defensive midfielders out there (I'm not saying Caicedo is one), that look better than they are because they spend the majority of the game chasing after their own mistakes. Early days and we'll have tougher tests, but looking at the fixture list before the start of the season I was not expecting 10 points from 4 games. Excellent start.

The Trent tweak was promising at the weekend but if there's team that plays deeper can he be as effective from the backline. Against a team that plays deeper you might be able to squeeze the backline up and get him in the right areas. If a team presses hard is it the best place to get him on the ball. I think it's a very promising tweak but only time will tell as we play different types of opposition. It gives us greater protection and I'm a big fan of that. Very much needed. It's also far less complicated to swap one position over with a CB. It's interesting but the holes may come to light as ve play different teams. I do think a mix of this and traditional RB within game could work and keep opposition guessing.

Szobozlai and Mac Allaister are amazing. I think the excitement was universal when we bought those two and they are proving why.


Endo like you say is a good squad player. I'm really hoping he becomes that guy you can just trust to give a 6/ 7 out of ten every time he plays. Hard to tell right now but I'm optimistic.

Gravenberch was not my first choice but now I'm super excited to see how he grows within our squad. He will need time but if his attitude is right, the raw ingredients are there. Could be a slow burner so we ll have to take our time a little with him.

Normally I would want Macca further up but Jones work off the ball is excellent. On the ball he is little off it at the moment. If there s any player that reminds me of wijnaldum right now it's him. That second pressing line of Jones and Szobozlai could be key to suffocating teams again so I would keep Macca six for now.

Gomez and Matip to be fair have started the season really really well. To do anything special this season we need them. I really hope they can both keep this up. We need them both.

And of course Allison is from a different planet. n the moments this man provides is so so special. Refusing to go up against Barcelona, the goal against West Brom, the crazy saves, the incredible consistency. When he hangs them up, I genuinely think he will be remembered as the best goalie of the premier league era.

Nunez is doing what he needs to do. It's all there and he is taking the right steps. Gakpo will be there too. This is not an either or scenario. We can love both.

I still maintain we needed an CB and DM but other players are stepping up and that is getting me excited.

Still think the club needs new DOF but that can be worked in the background. It's all about the footie on the pitch now and I'm getting on the cheery train again.

I hope we keep Salah now. Think of our goals this season. Salah has paw prints (because he is a animal) on 90 percent of them. It sounds like we will keep him. I think we will. Looking forward to Friday for numerous reasons but also because we know what we have. Let's hope we can keep eye to eye with city. They are good under the heat but let's givew them that Liverpool heat this season. We know it's likely Most last. Let's give him a proper send off.

We have pulled a golden rabbit out the hat with sobo he is captain material, work rate, oozing quality, the technical level is different gravy.

MacAllister was a player I’ve wanted us to sign for ages. He’s a great all rounder and a proper centre midfielder. 10 points from our opening games is a great start. Feels like there’s more to come. Minor gripes about not getting a top class number 6 aside, things are on the up. Can’t wait for us to batter Wolves.

The team is flowing. Confidence is high. Everyone's doing their thing and we have plenty of options off the bench.

I just really hope we don't fall short defensively with any potential injuries. Great start by Matip and Gomez so far and Quansah is very capable to step in/ up if needed I believe.
