Hi Ed02,

Has there been any progress on Gini's contract?

I spose we're all thinking any incoming Brewster funds will go towards funding Thiago.

But if Gini isn't renewing and fancies a move, and we do get Thiago, I spose any Gini fee would help fund a Brewster replacement?

Great summary by WYRed earlier reference Brewster. Looks like the Merry Go-Round could be starting to turn.

{Ed002's Note - I don't know about the contract. As I have said before I would expect someone to have to leave to make way for Thiago to join - and remember the club has also been unable to sell Grujic. The money could go toward addressing the CB shortfall unless NP will get a chance.}

Maybe JK is adding Thiago so to have Fabinho a center half option. If so he might not be thinking of moving out any of the current midfield options.
If I was in charge, I would allow Milner to join his true love Leeds Utd.

{Ed002's Note - Leeds have not shown interest in Milner.}

Milner signed a new 2 year deal and spoke of his desire to get into coaching at Liverpool after it expires.

yeah agree. I appreciate it's all hypothetical but the midfield does start to look overcrowded if we got Thiago. Henderson, Fab, Keita, Gini, Jones, Milner, Ox, Shaqiri, Grujic and even Minamino could all feature in there.

I do love Gini, great guy and bit of an unsung hero, however, I'd also love to see Thiago in a Liverpool shirt.

So, if Brewster goes and Thiago were to join, the question is which midfielder (s) leaves and what does Klopp see as the next pressing bit of recruitment - forward or defence?

Existing forward options would include Minamino, Shaqiri, Origi, Ox (? ) + maybe Jones. A little concerning due to the injury record of Shaq and Ox but still reasonably well stocked considering the outstanding durability of Salah, Mane and Bobby.

Fullback positions have both been addressed, so existing CB cover is Matip, an out of position Fabinho or Philips. I know we have the kids as back-up but none seem ready for an ongoing Premier League campaign.

Therefore, for me, if any midfielder (s) were to leave, the priority has to be a CB.

Well if thiago was signed I can't see both grujic or gini staying. Shaq and minamino will never be needed in our 3 man midfield and OX often likely to be an option out wide it's only fabinho hendo keita Milner and thiago the guaranteed midfield options with Jones getting chances with possibly 1 of gini or grujic kept. Milner will not be as frequent and surely gone in the summer. It's been regular that we've had 1 or 2 midfielders unavailable on matchdays. AOC and keita along with hendo can suffer from periods where we have been left with limited options. Thiago gives us the option of using fabinho elsewhere if needed and avoids the possibility of keita or AOC needing to fill in with defensive duties if hendo and Fabinho aren't available.
