Liverpool FC to sign Moses Simon before end of window.

1.) 29 Jul 2018 00:52:33
I doubt it now that we have Shaqiri in. Maybe if we sold Mane but i can't see it happening.

2.) 29 Jul 2018 02:10:06
Makes sense if Klopp sees Shaqiri's future lying in the No.10 position he played today.

3.) 29 Jul 2018 05:05:25
I would have thought signing Shaqiri would have put an end to that, in the same way it lessened any opportunity for Wilson this coming season.

4.) 29 Jul 2018 07:05:41
Well if Shaquiri is going to play the ten then there is still room for a back up winger in the team, especially with Wilson on loan and Ojo looking surplus. I would be happy with that.

5.) 29 Jul 2018 09:33:57
Shaqiri didn’t play ten, he just drifted in - he and Ono were wide.

6.) 29 Jul 2018 11:31:57
Yes, markp08, everyone is entitled to an opinion. The filtering question of 'Am I entitled to voice this opinion? ' is at the heart of the modern digital malaise. 'Have I done enough research? Have I looked at all the data? Discussed it with someone I trust? Will this be likely to do more harm than good? ' are all questions that are increasingly rarely asked. Even the more basic 'Is this likely to make me look like a tit? ' can be useful sometimes.

7.) 29 Jul 2018 12:34:14
Shaquiri did not play out wide he played centrally and drifted out left at times. Klopp trying a different position for him.

Liverpool to recall Origi following departure of Sturridge to Inter.

24 Jun 2017 16:41:29
Any transfer update on Sadar Azmoun to Liverpool? I believe that he will soon become hot property.

1.) 24 Jun 2017 18:31:03
He does not want to come to us. He knows his stock is rising and wants to veer a move towards United.

2.) 24 Jun 2017 19:09:20
Thankfully not. He is not that good player and I don't think he is any better than any of our forwards.

3.) 24 Jun 2017 21:56:38
Good luck with that, Azmoun. You're going to need it.

Ed001 - Could Solanke in mean Ings out? I am having a hard time making sense of Solanke simply swapping Chelsea U23 for LFC U23 given his potential and talent. Just a thought.

{Ed001's Note - it means we do not have to rely on Ings being back to his best immediately, Sturridge staying fit or Origi being ready this time around. Sturridge is the one in the most immediate danger of going, Ings will be given time to regain fitness.}

1.) 31 May 2017 07:52:56
Quick follow up Ed001, while you're discussing Solanke's place in the squad. His arrival doesn't affect Luan's does it? Still going for him as well are we?

{Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware, the two are not contingent on each other.}

2.) 31 May 2017 08:08:12
Cool. Thanks babe. ;)

{Ed001's Note - :-O

3.) 31 May 2017 10:45:04
Maybe more of a question of is sturrage leaves? Can't see us keeping 6 forwards happy, even if we play with two up front.

4.) 31 May 2017 13:24:53
I think Solanke is a fantastic signing.

For me Origi has not looked anywhere near the player he was last year before his injury. Since coming back he has looked out of his depth. He cannot hold the ball up, his touch is poor and always 3-5 yards away from him, he cannot get past players and his work rate has dropped so much that you barely see him closing down the opposition like he used to.

I would like to see him as the first striker out the door to pave the way for Solanke to get some game time with Roberto/ Sturridge (or replacement if sold) our main strikers competing for a starting place with Ings/ Solanke as back up and getting game time in cups and off the bench.

Ed002 - thanks for the podcast; great job! Love the music too! I noticed that you did not mention any name for a potential center back target. scary if we are not looking to replace Lovren with an established solid starter that would play alongside Mario.
Question: have we shown interest in buying a center back? (obviously this would mean that Libreville leaves. )

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of Liverpool wanting to replace Lovren. They added two centre backs that Klopp picked last summer and have the allocation of four that he wants. If he does want to add one then someone needs to be moved on.}

1.) 17 Mar 2017 10:02:50
Who is Mario?

{Ed002's Note - I think the real question you are wanting to ask is Who Is Bozo Texino?}

2.) 17 Mar 2017 11:14:15
Which looks unlikely considering Klopp loves Lovren and Klavan. We did a mistake in not buying a good player last summer when Sakho was certain to leave.
I don't see Klopp bringing players at the back at all this summer.

3.) 17 Mar 2017 12:00:54
Wasn't Bozo Texino the son of Bozo the Clown? I remember he had a trial with our under 18s, there was a lot of noise about his potential, but his off-the-field antics with all the pies and the tiny cars scruppled his chances of a transfer, and he went back to the USA.

4.) 17 Mar 2017 18:08:30
Sorry. My phone autocorrect function changed the intended names. Mario was Matip and Libreville was Lovren. 🙂 Thanks Ed002 for the reply.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome Pedro.}

5.) 17 Mar 2017 18:24:02
I thought Bozo Texino was Ken Aguero's agent.

{Ed002's Note - Bozo Texino remains aloof.}

6.) 17 Mar 2017 23:10:12
Hopefully nothing in the Bozo Texino rumours he's nothing but a cowboy.

{Ed033's Note - Bozo Texino was here with Kilroy.

7.) 19 Mar 2017 08:02:58
Bozo Texino has released an album of flute recordings entitled 'Bozo in the wind'

23 May 2017 15:25:25
Sturridge will stay next season. This is why we are targeting a player like Luan who is not a striker. He is similar to Firmino; a forward player who can play across the front line and most effective as a false 9.

1.) 23 May 2017 16:00:27
Is Firmino leaving then?

2.) 23 May 2017 16:07:35
No Firmino is definitely staying. With CL next year, we will need a strong squad!

3.) 23 May 2017 16:16:02
So if we get luan do you think we should let origi go out on loan?

4.) 23 May 2017 17:24:07
I'm actually all for origi going on loan. provided it is planned out and assurances given. I think he needs to play for a BPL team.

5.) 23 May 2017 21:52:10
The OP is wrong. Ed02 said that Luan is only an option if Studge leaves. Also, Origi is going nowhere and will be here as long as Klopp wants him.

19 May 2017 02:25:47
If we are to believe James Pearce from the Echo (usually a reliable source for all things Liverpool FC) our main defensive target at CB is Van Dijk. He also stated that Koulibaly from Napoli would be our second choice.
Question to Eds - Who of the two do you rate more? I have seen both play and I would definitely select Koulibaly ahead of Van Dijk.
Would like to know if others share the same opinion.

{Ed001's Note - why is he reliable? He is far from reliable and full of brown stuff.}

1.) 19 May 2017 04:54:34
Is that to say he is a brownnoser Ed?

{Ed001's Note - no, the brown stuff comes in the form of the articles he writes, which are very rarely worth reading. The Echo has gone downhill at a vast rate of knots since being owned by the Mirror group. No one will reveal anything to a paper that will just tell it all to a tabloid. If Pearce had anything definite worth having about Liverpool, it would go to the main paper, not the Echo. Which means it is pure speculation.}

2.) 19 May 2017 08:33:03
Got to agree, Pearce is a very unreliable journalist. Although the likes of Tony Barrett and Paul Joyce are both reporting that van Dijk is a target.

3.) 19 May 2017 14:18:41
That's not what I've been told, quite the reverse in fact.

4.) 19 May 2017 14:22:14
There is nothing reliable about James Pearce except for being a lap dog for his BFF Brendan Rodgers. Do you really think we are in for players like Khoulibaly, a player who rejected Conte's Chelsea last season? or MacGuire, the slowest and one of the poorest CB's in the PL? Come on, man. You got to be smarter than the article you are reading.

12 May 2015 18:39:41
Ed001 - would you feel that LFC should allow Sterling to leave this summer if Aubameyang (or Heung) was his replacement? I understand that LFC might be forced to selling him but the question is whether you feel the club would be ahead as a result of such transaction? Thanks

{Ed001's Note - if it was either of those players or any other top class player, then yes, the club would be ok. It would stop it looking like a lack of ambition if that is what happened. If we do the same as we did when Suarez went, and buy a stack of cheaper half-baked replacements, then no we would be making a huge mistake. We have to make a statement of intent, not as big a one as United made when they bought Di Maria, but something like that would be needed or we look like we have accepted midtable mediocrity.}

1.) 12 May 2015 21:59:02
but ed 01, who cares if everyone sees as 'midtable mediocrity'. isn't the only thing that matters is identifying the right players who will improve us as a team not careless 'marquee' buying. at the end of the day everyone starts off with zero points and it is up to the team assembled to get us to the top. you don't always have to spend big to win big.

{Ed001's Note - if you want to attract players with ambition to better themselves, and I don't just mean bloody tents, I mean players looking to compete at the highest level possible, then you have to show that the club matches their ambition. If you sell your better players and just bring in average replacements, pretty much like we did in the summer, then you make players think twice about joining you. They want to join a club that will allow them to progress. That has aims to move higher in the table, rather than being happy to sit where they are. Otherwise we just become a stepping stone and that is not a long term viable way to progress. Clubs that are stepping stones eventually drop down the table.}

2.) 12 May 2015 22:30:40
Ed001 is absolutely bang on here. We became a joke last summer

3.) 12 May 2015 23:51:43
Agree 100%, if we sell Sterling, then bizarrely our only marquee names (ie. someone who is recognisable to a broad range of global fans not specific to Liverpool) would probably be Balotelli, Coutinho and perhaps Sakho and 2 of those don't play regularly for us.

If we sell Sterling we absolutely need to bring in someone top class, not only to replace but to show we have ambition to remain a CL challenger club as we're already dropping far behind Chelsea, Man City, Man Utd in terms of recognised global players and that impact who else we can then attract as everyone wants to play and learn from the best.

4.) 13 May 2015 00:16:55
Which is a big reason we can't attract top or true up and coming players with high upside. If you are seen as a selling club, you are doomed to attract mediocrity. You have to show such players you are ready to compete and those players must see that ambition o they will move elsewhere. It's like an interview process but it is the club that is being interviewed and not the player. We need such players to let the club be in a better position to attract top players. With BR, we will not reach that level because he is unable to attract such players because he was a youth coach and will always be a youth coach who can't handle big players who will always disregard such a coach with no pedigree.

5.) 12 May 2015 22:30:30
Who would your statement player be ed001

{Ed001's Note - my statement would be to hold on to Sterling.}

6.) 13 May 2015 09:23:30

A few weeks back you were all saying we're not one of the big clubs who can spend the money so we need to find a way of winning the title similar to that of Dortmund and Athletico.

Now you're saying we need marquee, statement signings.

Which is it?

{Ed001's Note - we don't, we need to hold on to our good young players first and foremost. If we lose them, we will be forced to make a statement signing to prove we have ambition.}

He is going to Olympique de Marseille. Villa Boas wants him. Apparently both him and the player share the same agent; as well as of course both from Portugal.

It is obviously true that Sane wants a move for more game time. But it is also true that Man City without players of the talent level of Sane on the bench would not win the league. Teams fighting for the highest honors need one or two top level players on the bench. The trick is then for manager to use an effective rotation system that allows everyone to contribute. But certainly some will play more than others.

Karius is 2nd GK and Grabbara is 3rd GK. No need to add a GK.

Would Cornet be the offensive AM? I saw him play a couple of times and he looks to me a versatile wide forward.

Oxlade in a Klopp team would surprised many. Same negative crap being said about Oxlade as was said about Wijnaldum.
