Ed002. A question for you specifically.

Do you know if sports insurance companies have a say in whether "Project Restart" can go ahead.

Should the unthinkable happen, and a player tragically dies, the club of that player will have him insured. The club would no doubt want to claim on that insurance.

If the sports insurance companies are going to pay out in such circumstances, surely they are part of the discussion? Or would they just claim that the insurance is void because of the situation?

I hadn't thought about it until recently, but surely ALL insurers of players would be against a restart as it increases their risk so much, and it is the initial risk that the initial premiums were priced on.

I'm really looking forward to your thoughts on this, and thank you in advance.

{Ed002's Note - (a) No they don't. (b) It was not a known issue when insurance was taken out so they could not claim unless they had a new policy.

The decisions are the responsibilities of the Premier League - the issue is not related to insurance companies but is on the table for multiple other reasons - such as the non playing 300-500 people who would be attending games, such as the incubation period, such as players themselves.}

Thank you for the detailed response and I have to again say that I'm impressed that you have the answers that I was looking for.

I guess the fact that no-one is insured (which is how I understood your reply) is another major stumbling block.

I can understand why many clubs are against restarting and I understand that this is not one of their main issues, but it must be weighing on their minds.
