Ed025, if you are around - How true is this?

"Liverpool fans do tend get chuffed over their club’s history. They were, after all, a juggernaut of English and European football. But more than the silverware, Liverpool’s golden years exemplified an era of English football very different from our own. An era in which the wall of separation between fans, players, and staff was not so impermeable. An era in which fans were treated as stakeholders rather than customers. An era featuring, as Bill Shankly said, “everyone working for the same goal and everybody having a share in the rewards. ”
Liverpool’s team of 1970-80s was one of the best teams ever IF NOT THE BEST! "

{Ed025's Note - i really cant argue with that mate..

Morning 25.

I’m of the opinion that football started going down hill when Murdoch got his greedy, grubby hands on the game back in 92/ 93.

{Ed025's Note - everything that man touches is tainted drogie, players now are not in the real world these days mate, they are aloof and out of touch with the supporters, its all about money now im afraid and you have these superstars earning millions yet there are working people having to use food banks and cannot afford heating, its all wrong but i cant see it changing anytime soon mate..

Dead right, it is spiraling out of control. The greedy, faceless suits constantly looking for new ways to extort more money from the loyal fans, from European breakaway leagues as per Edo2, trying to play games abroad, constantly bringing out new kits that are poor quality and the cost of even going to a match.
Whats the cost for an ordinary working man to take his son to a prem match with food, travel etc. Then there are the players on £200,000 per week who are detached from reality.
I could go on all day, but I look forward to what other posters have to say on this.

If someone offers you 100.000 a week to play football you're not likely to say no are you? I don't blame the players i blame the suits.

Supporters are the lifeblood of the game and don't realise the power they have to stop all of this. If spurs and ourselves got together and said " none of us go to the champions League final, in protest at lack of tickets and the pricing" but sadly the world is full of snakes who'd see this as an opportunity to grab tickets, unfortunately the modern day fan is more shortsighted than Mr Magoo and thinks only of themselves and not making things better for everyone.

Completely agree with Greenflash and Ed025. It's very sad.
