Will you make a match review Ed1? Because i don't think there is much to say other than disgraceful, utterly pathetic referee performance. I think last night is the worst refereeing performance i have ever seen.

{Ed001's Note - yes I will.}

What is it about the first goal Ed? How there is no line drawn at all. Is there a rule saying that once the play is resume, the decision will stand even though VAR realise they make a mistake?

{Ed001's Note - no, it is either outright cheating or the var official was too embarrassed to admit his mistake. There is nothing to stop the play being brought back, just as they can choose to have the game replayed.}

I don’t buy PGMOL explanation that VAR thought on field decision was a goal and so told them to stick with it. None of it makes sense.

And even if that was the case what the heck is wrong with the culture and environment for officials that they simply couldn’t just communicate to each other and get the call right.

That is the real problem with these officials is that they’ve got so much process and guidelines around making a decision that simple common sense has become impossible.

The two red cards I would understand ordinarily, though at a stretch in both cases. The disallowed goal is inexplicable, though. Completely inexplicable. The way they rushed through the VAR and didn’t draw lines like they would any other time showed they had no intention of awarding that goal. They hadn’t expected Liverpool to bounce back so soon after the first awful decision.
I believe some people other than football fans got the result they wanted today, and possibly instructed. We simply can’t keep letting these officials off with ‘incompetence’ when it often reeks of something else.
Tottenham should offer to play the game again, though I think they’d rather jump off a cliff than go another 90 with an eleven-man Liverpool. The Premier League would also no doubt refuse.

A word on Jota - I’d have him training with the under 21s for his little cameo today. Though it was the wrong tactical switch from Klopp initially (with 10 men you need players that are technically secure and rarely make mistakes in possession - Jota can’t control a football), Jota repaid his manager’s faith with the worst substitute appearance of all time. He immediately lost possession in dangerous areas, gave away silly free kicks, bumped into people as always, and offered no threat to give us an out ball and relieve the pressure on our defence. Then, the stupidest (second) yellow card ever to let his teammates’ amazing, defiant efforts go to waste.

Lastly, thank you to the other 15 players in red today. That was a remarkable display of resilience and we were so close to walking away with a massive “F U” to the corrupt souls that decided that match before kick-off. A very proud Liverpool fan.

I always think it's quite funny when people overreact and say everything is corrupt whenever there is a bad decision. But, I have to admit it even crossed my mind with the Diaz goal. I am still not sure what to say. ?.

Didn't macca score a pen for brighton after the game was finished last season?

Did you mean the segment of the game replayed or the whole match Ed 01?

For all other decisions, they had the covering of the subjective nature of decisions. Eg not in line of sight, not clear or obvious, it depends on how physical the ref allows it to be etc. but offside has been something they kept claiming is objective science that there is no Grey area. Then this happens.

Essentially, VAR has failed what it perceives it’ll never make a mistake on.

I sat bin it.

Use goal line technology.
There is some automated offside? If it’s good, use it. If not, just let linesmen do the work.
Var should be not be involved in any decisions, be it red card, penalty whatever. Since it’s subjective.
The only time to use VAR is if the referee sent off the wrong player and just needed someone to tell him card the right person. Otherwise, it has no use.

{Ed001's Note - they can do either if they choose. They have the power to decide that.}

doubt they will do it though
Wolves for one will be asking for the same and they will open up a can of worms they cannot contain
and it would take humility, integrity and honesty, something they clearly lack
when city is crowned champions again by 1 point, guess they will apologise again?

for the off side and may other decisions if they say it was misunderstanding the easy solution is regardless they should simply speak the words "the VAR decision is. Goal" or "No Goal" regardless. not simply say yes go with it. and anyway wouldn't it have gone in the screen that the decision was Goal. such levels of incompetence. Ed01 do you think it is an agenda for or against a specific team or teams or just corruption in general to rig results for financial gain or SEO thing? I just can't understand the amount of easy decisions they get wrong.

{Ed001's Note - I think it is all of those things. There are different things going on all at once. There has always been an agenda, there has always been corruption and match fixing swept under the carpet. Now there is spot fixing as well involved and a certain team with a managerial team who have a history of paying for favourable treatment from officials.}

Which team ed01? City? Understand if you can’t spill the beans openly

And yes I totally reject their explanation
No way in hell a miscommunication covers it all

There was so many opportunities this could have been sorted. Let’s give benefit of doubt that the circumstance were true
- VAR thought onfield have a goal
- VAR said, check compete, decision remains
- free kick is taken, scoreline remains 0-0, screen says VAR decision - offside
- VAR should scream to onfield and say, hey idiot, what are you doing? I said check complete, it’s a goal, restart the game from Center circle!

You mean to tell me VAR decided, ah, he made a clear and obvious error, but hey, since the game moved on, let’s give him a pass, it’ll even itself out.

Then what do we need VAR for? To cover up or better still, create clear and obvious errors?

{Ed001's Note - yes City, Pep started his career with favourable reffing in Barca which is only just being uncovered in Spain right now. Those same people that were working with the refs at Barca are now in charge of the football side of City. The same City that have already been found guilty of over 60 charges of cheating by UEFA, which unfortunately were mostly time barred. Their lies about them being found innocent should have been challenged forcibly by UEFA, as it is an outright lie. City even paid a fine in acknowledgement of their guilt of the charges that were not time barred. They are facing over 100 charges now from the Prem, of which most of the previous charges they have already been found guilty of are involved, so why is it taking so long to deal with it? Simple, they pay whatever it takes because that is how it works.}

Ed01, I guess the so called "conspiracy theories" about City being able to pay off who ever they want to get the result required were actually a thing, the whole time.

{Ed001's Note - clearly. That is the way the world works sadly.}
