I’ve tried searching and just got too many references so a question to those who follow the junior teams coming up through the age groups.

I know I’ve seen references to TAA as more of a midfield player in his younger days and I was wondering if he was more of a DCM than an ACM? Just wondering if he would be an option to play the holding role? He knows the systems, as the defensive skills and his weak spot - positional sense when defending - perhaps might not be as exposed as a DCM.

I actually thought about that too WDW. Trent playing in a Pirlo role just pinging for fun. And he’s obviously a defender so I think he could easily do it.
I’d just prefer him more involved with his obvious generational talents. He needs to be heavily involved at all times imo.

I think he would be a talented enough defender for DM but, as you say FC8, his vision and passing ability would be fun to watch. That’s what prompted the question about it being a position he might have played in as a kid.

He was right midfield and damn good and he is definitely no defensive midfielder. His attributes are going forward and he should also now become a midfielder for sure others can do a job at full back. He is a player that see’s pictures on the pitch and is a step ahead when timing passes and moving into space. And if I’m not wrong if Hendo leaves I would class Trent as our best midfielder no?

When Trent moves into midfield from right back isn’t he technically the 2nd Dm then and most of his ball playing and creativity comes from deep. I suppose the difference is he can advance further forward as there is a designated DM to cover him.

Is it a case of people want to see him in the more advanced midfield role as the hybrid role only works so far with Trent in the team or are people wanting him as the right 8 in a 433.

Straighttalker do you currently class Hendo as our best midfielder then mate?

He should play one position or the other because I'm sick of hearing the word 'hybrid'.
It's getting almost as annoying as 'park the bus'. If I ever hear Paul Merson say it I won't be responsible for my actions.
