Can't help feeling that the club and manager thought just because both keita and VVD agreed to come to us that their clubs will automatically agree, and now with two weeks until the seasons starts will start panic buying if they bother buying at, sorry but the whole thing makes us look like ametuers.

The whole tapping players up made us look like amateurs as well as arrogant. We shot ourselves in the foot as we may well have had one of them by now if we'd played by the rules. All we've done is alienated another couple of clubs who probably don't want to do business with us anymore. What a shambles it's all been.
We need to start learning from our mistakes sooner rather than later or we'll be the architects of our own downfall.

I don't understand what the issue is, we wanted Keita, we put in 2 bids that were rejected and now we are moving on, it's no different to United with Griezmann or Chelsea with Sandro. I'd rather us target the best and fail than buying just anyone to satisfy the fans need to buy new players every summer.

Everything changed with keita once UEFA allowed them into the CL.

Well said Billy, can't help feeling were missing the chance to be regulars in the champions league, if we don't sign top class players this summer we may not get top four next year and therefore the top players won't come.

Jay, I don't think we need to sign top class players as this guarantees nothing. I believe we should sign players who fit our style of play and want to play for us, rather than just chasing the green.

Might be an optimist here but let's look at our situation. We have added a super talented winger. Mane missed a nice chunk of game time last season. Hendo looks fully recovered. Couts is hitting stardom and dropping back to his natural position. Can is healthy and was going great at years end. We brought in Roberts. TAA has progressed and will be a great rotational player. Same as woodburn. And let's not forget sturridge. Yes he is the glass man but all reports are this is the healthiest he has been in years. Injuries are part of the game. Yes we have more games too but I think there is much room for optimism. unless we lose couts then ignore all and I will join the ship jumpers.

So Pete either you're saying Coutinho is bigger than the club, or you're a plastic fan (or a flake as ed002 would put it) .

How is that Billy big balls? Pointing out that he is crucial to the team success is just pointing out the obvious. You missed the tongue in cheek I guess bc of course I will support LFC no matter what but I am not going to freak out unless we lose couts. He could be the difference between winning the league and finishing 6th.

If he wants to go, let him off! As long as the clubs interests a2rw looked after.

As good as the lad is, if he's not 100% committed to the club then he needs to move on.

What if later in the season we get drawn against Barca. that's some can of worns to open!

Coutinho is integral to Liverpool's fortunes in the coming seasons. Klopp is dropping him into midfield so he can operate as a playmaker and pull the strings to allow Mane and Salah to run havoc. Without Coutinho, we lack a player capable of picking apart defences with one single pass from time to time and allowing our wingers to run in between defences.
Lets be honest, if we sell Coutinho and sign no top notch replacement, we are screwed and another disappointing campaign beckons.

My apologies Pete, I couldn't see your tongue in cheek from here.
