Has there ever been a player we've been heavily linked with that has generated as much constant interest on this forum as Benteke and also one that has divided opinion as much.

It's getting really boring to read the same questions and Christ knows what it must be like for the Eds to read the same questions time after time.

As we've been told Benteke is the striker that Rogers wants and it's now just a case of agreeing the deal be it cash or more likely cash & a player/ players.

More interesting for me is the Sterling departure and rumour of another bid going in this week.

Eds how do you see Sterling developing if he goes to City with the additional pressure on him, will he play wide or just behind Aguero and do u see him getting the Torres treatment when he returns to Anfield?

{Ed030's Note - I have no idea on how he will be treated if he leaves then comes back to Anfield, Sterling is a good player and I expect he will show that at City, although I do not agree with his actions I hope he fulfills his potential. I suspect should he join City he will be played out wide, but I am just speculating. }

Questions about Sterling aren't any better than those regarding Benteke. I can't wait for Benteke to move to another club, and for Sterling to move on. The fact that we're even concerned about these two average players amazes me.

It depends what you consider average. What I should have said is, why concern ourselves with a player that has totally disrespected the club? A player who has been offered a very good contract and playing time. The boy is just potential, but has progressed beyond his years. He could well go on to become world class, and I have always said he will, but he's no Suarez on the pitch and not worth the hassle. Get rid and move on.

As for Benteke, if he signs I will back him, but he's not suited to how Liverpool play. Look at Balotelli, Lambert, Carroll, etc. They aren't bad players but they didn't work out for a reason. Benteke will be the same in my opinion, and he's definitely not worth the rumoured fee that's going around.
