Hi Eds

What do you see as realistic targets for us this season please? Also do you see many changes in January?

{Ed002's Note - I would not expect to see too much happen at Liverpool in January, the summer would be a more realistic time to see any significant changes. The scouts will continue to look at players and if a player that the club are interested in, e.g. Anwar El Ghazi, you might well see a move.}

Hope we get him. He looks a great prospect. Read that Barcelona were interested in him too but hopefully we can get top four and appeal to these types of players. Last signing from Ajax to Liverpool wasn't too shabby.

{Ed002's Note - Ajax will look to keep Anwar El Ghazi from interested parties for perhaps one or two years. Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, Liverpool and Chelsea have all declared an interest. The player has said he wants to play for Real Madrid. Chelsea were to put an offer on the table in the summer and would have been willing to leave him with Ajax for up to two years. However a third party advisor to Chelsea blocked any move at that time citing the player as still being inconsistent and wanting longer to consider whether or not Chelsea should progress a move for the player.}

Sounds very similar to Ed002's comments RE the signing of Lazar Markovic.

{Ed002's Note - It is different from the Markovic situation in respect of the third party ownership. It is similar in that Chelsea would not see him as ready at the time.}

Hi Ed, a few questions. Do you know which position and/or player Liverpool are most likely targeting for in January, or is it still far from decided? Is El Ghazi only an option for summer, and is he viewed as competition for Ibe or as an option on the left flank? Because apart from Ojo who is on loan, I can not think of any notable candidates to fill that left wing spot, and El Ghazi predominately plays on the right with his stronger foot.

If we can, we should still bring him in ASAP anyway, before one of our competitors snaps him up when he is 'ready'. He is extremely talented, looks a lot better than Markovic and is one that Klopp and his team would really enjoy nurturing IMO. I'd have nowhere near as much confidence if we still had BR.

{Ed002's Note - (a) I am seemingly repeatedly answering this question. Klopp has said no changes and Klopp has said there is no money. Personally I expect that if the right player were available at the right price Liverpool would find the money, but they know they might need to sell to do that. (b) Again I keep answering this - my answer is absolutely clear. Ajax will look to keep Anwar El Ghazi from interested parties for perhaps one or two years although there will be pressure in January with a couple of clubs looking to jump the gum and put offers on the table. Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, Liverpool, Newcastle, Southampton and Chelsea have all declared an interest. The player has said he wants to play for Real Madrid. Chelsea were to put an offer on the table in the summer and would have been willing to leave him with Ajax for up to two years. However a third party advisor to Chelsea blocked any move at that time citing the player as still being inconsistent and wanting longer to consider whether or not Chelsea should progress a move for the player. (c) He can play on either wing.}
