Hi Eds, can I ask whether there is any truth in the rumours that Lfc have been showing a recent interest in signing Mustafi from Valencia?

anonymush

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any interest in him from Liverpool.}

1.) 17 Aug 2016 15:53:38
I suspect it is his agent / Valencia drumming up the price for him, for arsenal to pay.

2.) 17 Aug 2016 15:58:29
Thanks Ed, looks like its probably just the usual internet rumour/ garbage then.

3.) 17 Aug 2016 17:52:28
Just read somewhere Liverpool have denied this rumour.

4.) 17 Aug 2016 19:15:51
Thought Arsenal are favourites to sign him, as Ed said Liverpool have shown no interest in him, is it German manager, German player thing again.

25 May 2016 22:48:45
Eds, can I ask if you will indulge me and try to guess what Gotze's reasoning is by him choosing to stay put when he has been told he is not wanted at bayern, and therefore won't get much game time? And also thereby might threaten his starting place in the national squad?
Is he giving out this message because he will lose out a lot financially if he is seen to be the party that instigates the move to another club?
Surely if a major club makes an offer he will be interested?
I'm not suggesting that Lfc would be an attractive proposition at this moment, but one imagines there will be other offers?

anonymush

1.) 26 May 2016 02:10:16
There will be more than one thing going through Mario's head at the moment. He would walk into pretty much any team but he could want to stay to prove a point or it could be down to a loyalty bonus but I doubt that he would join us regardless. If Coutinho leaves I believe we will push hard to sign him but ultimately only he knows what his motives are at present. I honestly believe reuniting him with Jurgen Klopp is what he needs but we are a mid-table with no European football and that will also be playing on Goetze's mind.

2.) 26 May 2016 03:36:41
I think he wants to go back to Dortmund but they don't want to spend the money on him, so he is staying put until next summer to leave on a free.

3.) 26 May 2016 07:02:23
He's one of the Mario Brothers, I hope Kong snatches both of their women. I'll throw beer barrels at the pair of them.

4.) 26 May 2016 02:33:48
Goetze could be holding out for january transfer if things dont work out for him. Smack of Borini situation.

22 Jan 2016 19:02:24
Hi Ed002, apologies for continuing the game of throwing random names at you, but I just read an internet rumour that Lfc have declared an interest in a left back called Raphael Guerreiro of Lorient.
I don't suppose you know whether there is any truth in this?
One has to wonder about the future of moreno if this rumour is true, although the lad has already said he wants to play for Real at some point
(Which probably means as soon as he strings together enough good performances that they show an interest. )

anonymush

{Ed002's Note - Far from new. Lorient left-back Raphael Guerreiro has been of previous interest to Newcastle, Milan, Arsenal, PSG, Manchester City and Sampdoria. Marseille, Liverpool, Sunderland and Swansea have had watched the player this season - whilst an Arsenal scout says they may look again. Liverpool interest would come to the fore only if Moreno were to leave.}

1.) 22 Jan 2016 23:44:14
Thanks Ed, much appreciated.

21 Dec 2015 18:19:33
Ed002 I wanted to ask your opinion if I may. How you would try to solve the clubs goalkeeping concerns?
The options seem to be
1. Keep mignolet as starting keeper until the summer and look for a long term replacement in the meantime, accepting that a top four finish is even less likely given he will probably cost us a few more games after xmas
2. Promote bogdan to starting keeper until the summer. Again it does look as if he will cost us a few games too
3. Try to sign a new keeper in january- although it seems our likely targets won't be available anyway

I hate the casual slagging off of players that is so common these days with lfc fans, but I do think that the club cannot afford to continue with mignolet as starting keeper in the long term, he is simply not good enough for enough of the time.

anonymush

{Ed002's Note - This is secret advice that should not be shared, but, personally I would look to a very smart move in the summer for a well-respected excellent goalkeeper with extensive Premier League experience - and at 28 he is currently only a second pick.

I would take the position of enquiring with the agent of Asmir Begovic to see if his client would look favorably on Liverpool approaching Chelsea to see if he could be made available. This would be a smart move in that Begovic is a very good goalkeeper, as he has shown when he has had the opportunity at Chelsea and previously at Stoke, he has a mass of good experience, but he knows he will continue to be only the second pick at Chelsea. Also, it would be a good move knowing that Chelsea as a club do not, as a rule, stand in the way of players looking to leave if they have a replacement. And Chelsea do have a replacement in mind who would certainly be open to the more limited chances a number two goalkeeper gets compared to the very rare chances a number three pick would get. So it might help ease that transfer through. Begovic wouldn't be cheap but he would be a low risk option that could be available in the summer - and "low risk" is a key point with goalkeepers.

I don't see any knee-jerk reaction in January - for no other reason than clubs will not be looking to sell players in key positions (particularly goalkeepers) in January.}

1.) 21 Dec 2015 19:57:59
Surely Begovic knew he would be No2 when he signed so why would now be any different? also didn't he knock us back before he signed for Chelsea?

2.) 21 Dec 2015 19:57:22
Would that player in mind as the replacement be mignolet by any chance ;)

{Ed002's Note - No Fencey.}

3.) 21 Dec 2015 20:13:35
Cheers Ed, begovich would be a real boost if it could be done.
Fingers crossed that Klopp and t'committee see sense.

4.) 21 Dec 2015 20:32:31
What about Diego Lopez when fit? Now they have that 16 year old kid, will Milan be worried about selling? Swap for balotelli haha!

5.) 21 Dec 2015 21:01:37
Timo Horn

Kiko Casilla

Victor Valdes.

6.) 21 Dec 2015 22:54:48
Valdez? Seriously!

7.) 21 Dec 2015 23:49:32
Do u think we should hire another gk coach, eds?

{Ed002's Note - No. #WonderDogSparky runs a fetch and catch training class on a regular basis. It will be an improvement on what Liverpool already has.}

8.) 22 Dec 2015 01:05:25
Begovic would be an excellent choice, if CFC really are interested in Benteke, maybe a cash plus AB deal could be brokered . With young Ward up at Aberdeen doing really well, would it also be possible to recall him as our no2 keeper, maybe offering Aberdeen Bogdan in exchange? Begovic and Ward would make us a lot steadier between the sticks, and maybe we could find some poor team that will give us a few quid for SM .

9.) 22 Dec 2015 12:34:15
Bruce Grobbelaar said that the other day, he said the goalkeeper coach has had two years with Mignolet and if he still can't coach him they need to get a new coach.

10.) 22 Dec 2015 08:12:28
We missed the chance to sign him up in the summer. He was available. the Money was less and we did not. Chelsea wouldn't sell anyone till summer unless they bring a new manager.

11.) 23 Dec 2015 11:18:21
Begovic is not the required level for LFC to push on. He hasn't played well for 3 years now. Yes an improvement on Migs, but no where near a level we need to be competing.

17 Dec 2015 10:22:04
Hi Ed002, are you able to say whether there is any truth in rumours that lfc have scouted granit xhaka- and if yes, do you think lfc have a serious level of interest in the player? Thanks.

anonymush

{Ed002's Note - Xhaka signed a new long-term contract but there is interest from Atletico Madrid and Inter. If he were to become available, interest from England may arise. Previous interest from Stoke and Everton is gone. Manchester City and Arsenal have scouted the player and Arsenal would likely continue that interest.}

This is a pretty poor result in that we failed to put another nail in Chelsea's top four hopes, and we've now given them a glimmer of hope in maybe catching us.
But I also think there is an unusual silver lining in this result.
I suspect that if we'd cruised to a 3-0 win today the media and fans would've started with the all-conquering Liverpool hype, and I think we'd have cruised on into Tuesday's game expecting a win, and being a bit complacent- which is usually disastrous for this team.
After todays disappointment Klopp and the players will be angry and upset, and I think it might give them a bit of extra sharpness and determination on Tuesday.
They will need every bit of focus and determination to stop Roma getting am away goal, and yes it's a small consolation, but this result today will stop any complacency creeping into Tuesday's game.
At the moment Bayern and Real are weaker than they have been for several years, and we may not get this good a chance of reaching a CL final and winning for another five years, maybe more.
A top performance on Tuesday holds the key to getting into a winnable CL final- and at least now we will come out hungry and focused.
Not much consolation I admit, but it's something.

1.) 21 Apr 2018 20:34:08
I agree mate I think we'll go into Tuesdays game with much more concentration and determination then ever! today's result might be a blessing in disguise, hopefully!

2.) 21 Apr 2018 21:31:59
I agree also. Happy birthday Salah.

3.) 21 Apr 2018 21:47:20
Thank you Acered.

4.) 21 Apr 2018 21:51:23
I agree also, probably did us the world of good, you need a good wake up call every now and then. Over the last few weeks I’d say we’ve felt invincible. Plus considering how Roma got past Barcelona, it’s a shock we needed now. Let s also not forget we didn’t throw away all the points which in previous seasons we would have. Bring on Tuesday.

5.) 21 Apr 2018 22:46:08
Also worth remembering that we changed three quarters of the defence, and a third of the midfield and attack. Nearly everybody wanted Klopp to rest players and this is the kind of result you get when that happens. Personally I think momentum is more important than giving people a rest, but Klopp has done enough for me to trust.

Very pleased for Ings and Salah and some pretty momentous goals for very contrasting reasons!

6.) 21 Apr 2018 22:50:11
Worryingly Karius was all over the place today and I’m not just referring to the goals.

When the pressure is on, he hides. He’s had a good few weeks but the fact remains when teams target him on crosses he can’t cope.

Hope Roma weren’t watching.

7.) 21 Apr 2018 22:56:23
Good point Mush!
It highlighted our weaknesses which can now be focused on.

I also don't like it when Klopp makes substitutions at the end of the game for the sake of it (Lovren today), usually also changing formation. We often lose our rhythm and end up weaker. Hopefully he doesn't do this on Tuesday either.

8.) 21 Apr 2018 23:08:05
Not a great result but SHOULDNT be detrimental to our top 4 hopes. And the most important thing is the squad should be fully fit with no injures for Tuesday.

Obviously disappointed but we all know some of the players in our 2nd string and on our bench just aren’t good enough.

Our core 11 can beat ANYONE but outside that things look shaky. something for JK to fix this summer so we can challenge on multiple fronts! 💪🏼

Step 1 get Navy Keith in 👍🏼.

9.) 21 Apr 2018 23:25:34
It kind of shows that our squad isn’t good enough.
Our first 11 is a match for any team in the world, take a few regulars out though and we can struggle.
To win leagues we need a better squad.

10.) 21 Apr 2018 23:34:12
It really is a worry that Klopp brings on Lovren as if that would help us see out the game, despite the fact that everytime we try 3 CBs we look dreadful.

11.) 21 Apr 2018 23:49:09
Well it also shows the quality of depth in our team. First 11 is good but that’s all!

12.) 22 Apr 2018 01:50:06
really don't think these games are connected and fans draw conclusions that aren't there. whatever the result today, the lads will be coming out pumped to the brim on tuesday night.

13.) 22 Apr 2018 06:36:50
More than anything else, I think today showed that our squad lacks depth. I do think the red helped them get back into the game and had right decisions been made it would of been 3-0 or 3-1 as Klopp said, however, the Defense is still is dire need of improvement as is the midfield.

02 Feb 2017 22:38:05
A question for the Eds if I may- Klopp has very recently refused to rule out a future for Sakho at LFC.
Some fans are hoping Klopp has had a change of heart and softened towards the player, and of course us fans don't know the details of the falling out between the two.
My suspicion is that Klopp is still determined to move him on, and is simply protecting the summer sale value of the player by making his recent statements, but can I ask for your opinion?

anonymush

{Ed002's Note - Sakho will leave at the first opportunity that suits Liverpool and the player.}

1.) 03 Feb 2017 00:16:26
Thanks Ed

2.) 03 Feb 2017 16:13:13
Doubt Sako will make his move to Palace a permanent one.

3.) 03 Feb 2017 21:40:48
Probably end up at Nice with Balo lol.

Mourinho is well under way with the mind games already.
He is worried that the ref may try a bit too hard to avoid showing any pro-utd sympathies, so he makes a statement about how much pressure the ref will be under etc- thus adding to pressure the ref is under.

Then he takes the mick out of klopps touchline arm-waving, and saying he (jose) is there to coach, not to wave his arms around.
I feel sure his mickey-taking won't bother klopp in the least, and it won't make klopp alter his style- in fact I hope he will do some arm waving at jose for a laugh.

This is one manager that jose will not be able to unsettle, anger or otherwise manipulate by mind games.

Hopefully the ref ignores jose's comments as well. There is admittedly a risk of the ref favouring lfc in his attempts to show that he has no pro-utd bias, but managers are now forbidden to make comments about the ref ahead of the game, so there will likely be a modest punishment given to jose- after the game of course.

Part of me has a sneaking admiration for his sheer desperation and his will to win whatever the cost, but the greater part of me despises him a bit for the fact that he will literally go to almost any lengths in order to win a game- including any amount of cheating that he or his players can get away with.
I'm expecting some of the nasty old chelsea gamesmanship tonight- surrounding the ref to protest every major decision, time wasting with fake injuries, everything.

I remember when he tried to do the same mind games nonsense with Klopp before Real Madrid played BVB in the CL and Klopp said intelligently about mind games, "I am not intelligent enough to know what all that means". Priceless! Klopp did his mind-gaming on the pitch and owned Mou in that game, just like he has owned Mou his whole career. Mind games don`t play football. Players do.

Just wanted to say a major major thanks to all the long suffering Eds, and in particular 001 and 002, who put up with reading through the same questions- and in all too many cases the same rubbish- all the way through the transfer window.
We would be lost without your efforts and your patience, and I won't be the only one wishing you all a big thankyou for giving us some idea of what's really happening behind the scenes, and not leaving us to rely on the thousands of pages of utter garbage that appears all over the internet during silly season.
Thank you guys.

Eds, everyone has a right to opinion and all that bleeding-heart liberal stuff but can we not just ban those who disagreed with this? Surely they are the trolls that bring this site down with their vile bile and would not be missed?

23 Jul 2016 15:55:30
Eds, have lfc's targets changed for a left back? A lot of fans considered it one of the highest priorities for strengthening this summer, but leicester and villa have both said they are confident about keeping hold of their players.
Do you thinn lfc will be moving on to other possible targets, or might they settle with moreno as starting lb for another season?

anonymush

{Ed002's Note - I do not expect the club to buy for the sake of it and interest remains in the left backs I have mentioned. Right now I don't expect Moreno or Brad Smith to leave.}

Jkh1983, I offered to have Ed002s children but he politely and firmly declined.
I've been a daily reader of this site for almost a decade, and I would still trust what Ed002 says before any other source on any media whatsoever- period. I don't even bother clicking on most other rumours sites, and when I do I take it with a very large pinch of salt.
He isn't trying to sell papers, get clicks, or boost his ego.
His agenda is just to share what info he can afford to share.
This site is probably the most realistic, honest and unbiased source of genuine inside info that you will ever see.
I only hope it lasts for many years to come, and I only wish more people appreciated it for what it is.

Barnez, we are all entitled to our viewpoint on the accuracy of different sources.
But as far as I'm concerned, if Ed002 says Salah is seeking a move, then it's fact.
He's been right too many times to doubt, and I am 100% convinced Salah will move as soon as a viable deal can be made with one of his preferred clubs, probably next summer.
Salah is great, but he is another mercenary I'm afraid, and LFC is a stepping stone for him.
As they say in the Mafia films, it's nothing personal. It's just business.

Barnez, the info about Salah wanting a move to those clubs has come from Ed002.
For anyone who regularly reads this site, you will know that Ed002 is the most knowledgeable, the most honest and the most reliable source of info that many of us have ever known in terms of what the players, clubs and agents are all getting up to. He can't tell you where they will finally decide to go, but he can say what they prefer and intend to do.
Ed002 was saying all this a year ago, when every respected pundit was convinced Salah would stay for a decade.
More recently other 'sources' have started to pick up on the info that Salah would prefer a move.
Probably the reason why there are no clearly identified sources is because of those few who are in the know about these things, only Ed002 is actually kind and decent enough to take the time and trouble (and the abuse sadly), to put us fans in the picture, at least as far as is prudent.
So it's Ed002, I think, and I have no doubt that as soon as it can reasonably and politely be accomplished, Salah will get the move he wants.
I would trust Ed002s opinion and knowledge above any football agent, media outlet, or ITK.
He knows so much that he may in fact be one of those Illuminati lizard people that the paragon of sanity David Icke is so fond of. The Queen is apparently another one of them.
Lizard or not though, he knows some cracking old tunes from back in the day.

The incident I remember was about 6 or 7 years ago on a YouTube video with Bale and a younger spurs player who has also since left.
They were just joking around really, but they were essentially slagging off LFCs fall from grace in 2011 (the way people slag off United nowadays), but I think they slagged off the town as well.
It probably wasn't hugely malicious but it was done at a bad time for the club, and it was taken off YouTube shortly afterwards, as I think there was a quite hostile reaction.
I don't even think he actually dislikes the town or the club, but I wouldn't want him at LFC.
I have a long memory, joking or not.

Born and grew up in Liverpool (at least as far as I could be said to have grown up), and currently living in Newcastle.
He's not a reader of this site but one of my brothers moved to the Nottingham area and his son was born down there. The lad is now in his late 20s and talks in the local accent, but is a firm LFC supporter thanks to his dad.
Another brother lives somewhere in Essex with a Spanish wife, so his kids are both joint Barca/ LFC fans. Not sure how that works out if we draw Barcelona in the CL; one can only hope he has usurped the Spanish influence a bit.

It is certainly very striking that both brad jones and adam bogdan's form has improved greatly since leaving lfc. I think jones even won an award recently.
Reina has also improved, at least since his latest move.
Is all that enough evidence to replace achterberg?
For me personally, yes it is. Asap.
