Hi Eds,

Question, do you see Liverpool going after Houssem Aouar in the near future? I know that we tried to sign him in 2016 and he was persuaded to reject us and it looks like we have still been scouting since then.

Do we still hold proper interest or are we just keeping an eye out for his development. Looks like he will be a top top player.

alexdavies1993

{Ed002's Note - Three clubs have a declared interest in the player but Lyon are not looking to sell this summer and all clubs are aware of that - there is nothing to say that Liverpool are looking to him.}

1.) 21 Aug 2019 13:40:45
Well Aouar2020 has been trending so fans seem to think so!

I am sure that we are scouting him but he will be a very significant outlay to prise him from Lyon and as Ed says there will be interest from other big clubs.

Guess it depends how the season goes and how our midfield evolves by the end of the season.

2.) 21 Aug 2019 21:37:21
He looks like he can become a great player and will be hot property if he can keep improving this season, he will surely demand a hefty fee though with many top clubs looking at him.

05 Aug 2019 09:04:23
Adrian Ex West Ham player is set to replace Simon Mignolet.

alexdavies1993

1.) 05 Aug 2019 10:16:31
A name that was never even mentioned. Little or no information been leaked from the club these days. Great to see even if it is a little boring.

2.) 05 Aug 2019 10:25:04
Wowee, I suggested this back in January. Go me! :)

3.) 05 Aug 2019 10:53:59
Didn't he knock Everton out of the FA Cup scoring a Penalty 2016.
He's already a hero of the Kop.

4.) 05 Aug 2019 11:36:16
There was mention of him earlier in the summer.

5.) 05 Aug 2019 12:06:25
Didn't see that this summer Gingerlfc to be honest. I more meant there wasn't a whisper about him until today when it seems it's as good as done.

6.) 05 Aug 2019 12:36:50
Great business - Migs can get on with his career and Adrian is a solid backup.

7.) 05 Aug 2019 13:18:46
Don't see any downside to this deal for any parties (apart from perhaps West Ham) . Migs gets to go play 1st team football in his home country, Liverpool probably saving a fair amount of wages with Adrian instead of Migs, and a decent transfer fee, and a good back up goalie, and Adrian gets to sign for the reigning Champions of Europe and get cup run outs and the occasional start in the league, probably on better wages than he was on with West Ham.

8.) 05 Aug 2019 18:19:36
Premier league experience, West Ham fans rated him quite highly. Good reliable number two. Sensible deal.

9.) 05 Aug 2019 18:21:04
I think Adrian is a very good option, IMO. I can think for a no. PL teams he could start for and us getting him as a no. two will make us very competitive during Cup games with AB1 getting the CL and PL games.

Reports coming out tonight via Chris Bascombe, usually reliable. Stating that LFC will buy a first team player before the end of the window.

alexdavies1993

1.) 22 Jul 2019 23:15:16
Good job he wasn’t vague about it, that could’ve harmed his credibility.

2.) 23 Jul 2019 00:31:37
Any chance that the potential signing will have two arms and two legs and be able to kick round things?

3.) 23 Jul 2019 06:54:10
While some blogs have stated Chris has reported this I can’t find said “report” anywhere.

4.) 23 Jul 2019 06:56:45
Where? It’s not on his Twitter.

5.) 23 Jul 2019 08:13:58
How is that a story?

6.) 23 Jul 2019 08:22:31
A 1st team player. Would that mean a starter, or a someone for the 1st team squad. Because unless someone leaves we are not buying a player who would start in front of our first 11 (12 or 13) we already have. Think about it. Why would we replace any of the back 5, front 3, fabinho in cdm. So two midfield positions up for grabs and we've about 6 very good players wanting to fill them.

7.) 23 Jul 2019 09:32:13
A first team player for us or someone who is currently in the first team of someone else?
I think we can park that in the ‘wishy washy’ category.

8.) 23 Jul 2019 09:43:46
Reports coming out tonight via (insert random source), usually reliable. Stating that LFC will buy a “footballer” before the end of the window.
“We take no responsibility for this rumour”
T&Cs Apply.

9.) 23 Jul 2019 11:27:43
next he'll come out and say the a fit Ox and Lallana will be like two new signings.

10.) 23 Jul 2019 12:14:38
Well at least its something to go off he is normally a reliable journo, its more than the info we're getting on here anyways.

11.) 23 Jul 2019 12:51:10
I am pretty sure that Ed002 has said all window he expects us to go for a AM who can also provide cover for the front three. Until something changes don't expect daily updates.

TBH we should be praising the club as it clearly is very difficult to get information regarding transfers. so instead journos throw out drivel or vague guesses in the hope of being right or people to click on their stories.

12.) 23 Jul 2019 13:39:56
more info isn't "more" info leonRed. unless you just want headlines every day.

13.) 23 Jul 2019 14:58:40
I report that Liverpool may. or may not, buy or sell a player during the transfer window.

MDS.

14.) 23 Jul 2019 15:57:45
to be fair to alexdavies1993 Chris Bascombe, did say Liverpool are likely to add a first team player, he actually wrote "Liverpool plan to make a first-team signing in this transfer window and despite Klopp’s description of returning players as ‘like new arrivals’ a little freshening up would be reassuring. "
Its in his Telegraph article analysing the Sevilla horror show.

15.) 23 Jul 2019 16:28:47
What "Sevilla horror show"? Losing a friendly is a horror show is it?

16.) 23 Jul 2019 17:01:14
I'd imagine Roy is referring to the extremely well publicised physical nature of the game and the red card shown to a Sevilla player for a horror tackle on one of our players.

Just a guess though.

17.) 23 Jul 2019 17:01:35
horror show
==============
have you seen the game . not sure why but for some reason it was far from friendly to Sevilla . I am sure you heard about the horror tackle on poor young Yasser.

18.) 24 Jul 2019 00:51:55
To be fair to the OP the article is in The Telegraph but the comment about us buying a first-team player seems more a "throwaway" comment rather than an informed comment.

15 Jul 2019 13:11:17
Echo now reporting that we would be interested in a move for Cornet, i wonder where they got that from.

alexdavies1993

1.) 15 Jul 2019 14:22:38
Hope so he is a decent playmaker.

2.) 15 Jul 2019 14:36:33
magico, he’s not a playmaker, he’s a winger/ wide forward. And a fairly one dimensional one at that. Not better than anyone already at the club.

3.) 15 Jul 2019 15:35:26
Not again 6times.

4.) 15 Jul 2019 15:56:27
6Times, He is a target for back up player to our front 3 and can play anywhere across the front line as well as possibly AM. He isn’t meant to be be better than we already have, but one who can develop and push the front 3 for a starting birth.

5.) 15 Jul 2019 16:18:43
Who is better than what we have 🤔 don't think we'll be signing a 400 million pound player somehow 😅.

6.) 15 Jul 2019 16:57:27
I thought Cornet was not worth it either but the more I research him the more I start to see it. He is a bit rash in his decision making but his running in behind the defence is excellent. I think he could be a rough diamond.

7.) 15 Jul 2019 18:20:24
Well if anyone can improve him Jurgen can.

8.) 15 Jul 2019 18:32:27
I’d rather we didn’t waste time negotiating with Aulas or money on a player we don’t need and who won’t improve our chances of winning the league. Question for me is whether he’s significantly better than Wilson or Kent and the answer is that he really isn’t as it’s not as if he’s tearing apart the French league, which bar the exception of PSG, Lille and Lyon and maybe Marseille is no stronger than the Championship. This notion that he can play as an attacking midfielder or play maker is well wide of the mark, when I’ve seen him play his first touch, decision making, passing and tracking back/ tackling are severely lacking to say the least. He is only effective on the break or against teams playing a high line. If we’re talking as signing him as support cast, I’d rather keep the money and take a punt on the players we already have in Wilson and Kent who play in similar positions.

{Ed002's Note - It is Klopp you need gone then.}

9.) 15 Jul 2019 18:43:03
So scouting a player on BT makes you an expert does it? Wind your neck in.

10.) 15 Jul 2019 19:00:07
If Klopp and his team want cornet I back him. I like both Kent and Wilson, but think they will fall short of the standard required.

11.) 15 Jul 2019 19:38:13
Is that Harry back supporting Liverpool again?

12.) 15 Jul 2019 23:44:51
I like what I've seen from harry. he needs game time tho so probably best he goes on loan or sold.

13.) 16 Jul 2019 20:35:26
6Times all you seem to have for Cornet is ad hominem and personal attacks against him as if he stole your girlfriend or something. You seem to be unable to make a substantive case as to why you don't think he is good enuff. The fact that you don't even know the position (s) he plays or can play and a poster had to point that out to you, just proved my point.

Cornet plays on either side or at AM and played wide for the Ivory Coast at this year's AFCON so really, you have clearly never seen him play cos if you did, you would know tha and know that he ripped Man City a new one in the CL this season. We don't need him to be better than the front three. We need him to offer enuff when any of them need a blow and if we are well interested hin him means Klopp thinks he is up to it. I will trust him over you any day esp. with you having nothing substantive to add to the argument but personal attacks against him.

14.) 16 Jul 2019 21:51:27
Pep loved him and thought he was very good when Lyon played city, so I trust him AND klopp see something worth buying.

15.) 16 Jul 2019 23:01:51
Exactly, YoungRed2002 BUT 6Times would have you believe that he is the worst player that ever walked the face of the earth and that Pep is now an idiot who knows nothing about football.

17 Jun 2019 14:54:52
Hi Eds, apparently Barcelona have offered Ousmane Demebele to Liverpool as long as we match there valuation. I believe we had previous interest in the past, i think Klopp liked him. Would this be someone we would go for as a Salah replacement should he leave knowing that he is available?

alexdavies1993

{Ed002's Note - Ousmane Demebele would obviously be a Salah replacement but I suspect a move to Liverpool is unlikely and I am not aware of Barcelona offering him to Liverpool- but they are certainly not happy with him.}

1.) 17 Jun 2019 19:10:19
Thanks ED002, thought it would be a longshot.

2.) 17 Jun 2019 23:28:07
So there's the two players Barcelona bought with the nemar money surplus to requirements, and both going on strike to force the move. Grass not always greener.

3.) 18 Jun 2019 00:54:44
Well said port red. Not to go against anything the OP said but, if Barcelona are trying to call us out on prices for their reserves, they might want to take a step back and look at the 6 times European Champions record of selling them OUR reserves.

4.) 18 Jun 2019 12:31:59
Already said it but i reckon dembele would be a Sturridge replacement. As salah is not leaving this year. And there was interest last year when Salah certainly wasn't leaving. And they play on opposite sides of the pitch.

5.) 18 Jun 2019 14:36:34
I keep seeing "dembele plays on the opposite side to Salah" but he's left footed right? Klopp has the system setup so the wingers cut in on their strongest foot meaning dembele would go be for the right side.

Hi Eds,

Is it true that we are taking New Balance to high court over a contract dispute? I believe NB think they have an option of an extra year to take them to 2021, but the club don't agree and are looking to move to Nike.

alexdavies1993

{Ed002's Note - It is a matter of what the contract between the club and NB says as I understand the matter. NB will claim that it allows them to match any offer made to Liverpool and to continue as the supplier. Liverpool will likely state that they have a different interpretation. It is a very strange clause to include.}

1.) 24 Sep 2019 23:18:48
Why would new balance want to even deal with us if we’re messing them around.

2.) 24 Sep 2019 23:40:22
Cause they're making a fortune selling our shirts. It's not rocket science.

3.) 25 Sep 2019 22:52:09
In terms of the actual shirt, the last 2 home shirts from NB have been so good. Nike has become increasingly standard. It's not the end of the world changing from NB to Nike, but if NB carried on making the shirts to the current standards I don't believe Nike could beat that. But it will probably come down to money are the end of the day! If Nike is offering us more.

I'll see if i can find the old post, if my memory serves me I think Ed02 did a amazing breakdown of how shirt sales work and which parties get what!

{Ed002's Note - For Liverpool as many other sides the motivation is to strike a deal based on sales - but you need to remember that sales is what makes Liverpool attractive to Nike, that does not benefit the club beyond the deal. Good shape at the moment to pull in a deal worth £85M a year or so. A significant improvement.}

05 Aug 2019 12:23:52
Not sure if this has been mentioned already, but the fact that Mignolet leaving seemed to come out of know where, with it not being mentioned in the days before that literally no information is being leaked out of the club. So there is still the opportunity that we are looking to bring someone in before the window.

Ed01, is this just because the club are being tight lipped, or has someone who was leaking information out left the club? I know we had a problem with starting 11's being leaked before games a while back.

alexdavies1993

{Ed002's Note - The chance of Mignolet leaving and his desire to return to Belgium has been mentioned all summer.}

1.) 05 Aug 2019 14:00:49
Were signing Adrian from West Ham.

2.) 05 Aug 2019 19:00:35
OP, Migs leaving us for first team football opportunities was already known since late last season and we were already linked with Adrian earlier in the summer cos I read those links in the media. Nothing came out of nowhere, really.

02 Aug 2019 10:38:36
Ed001, i've noticed that Harvey Elliott has been kept in the Evian training camp while 5/ 6 of the younger players have been sent back to Melwood. I know Elliott was bought for the first team even though he is only 16, but can we be expecting to see quite a bit of him this season? He looked to have a lot of confidence about him, and charged at the defence a lot like Sadio does, forcing the opponent into a decision/ tackle.

alexdavies1993

{Ed001's Note - he is expected to get a fair few sub appearances, when possible. It will be when he turns 17 that he will get more games as it becomes easier then.}

1.) 02 Aug 2019 11:13:18
Forgive me for my ignorance ed001, but can you elaborate on why it is easier when he turns 17?
I know he will sign a professional contract, but how does that make it easier?

AC from DK.

{Ed001's Note - because he will be a professional footballer and under no obligation to go to school.}

2.) 02 Aug 2019 11:13:54
That does surprise me tbh Ed given his age mate. Means he will be ahead of plenty of other youngsters that are a little older than him who will be in the U23 squad, when that happens does it must make the 19/ 20yo players think, hang on a minute how come he is in the first team squad?

Was it part of the deal and agreement that he would get first team chances?

Last thing I want to say is with this in mind our squad is full to the brim of players who are going to be looking to get a place on the bench, no wonder we aren’t signing anyone there is just no room!

{Ed001's Note - what does that have to do with anything? That is like saying Trent should not have got first dibs at right-back as Milner is older! It is about ability not age.}

3.) 02 Aug 2019 11:22:31
I would hope anyone who is say in the 18-21 age group at the academy would be motivated by seeing a youngster get game time. Then you can not hear things like "oh the youngsters never get a chance". It should make them really knuckle down and listen to the guidance they get because if they work and have a bit of luck (it's always needed) then they can get in the team.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have been off loading the youngsters - have you not noticed how many have left?}

4.) 02 Aug 2019 11:26:31
I get what your saying Ed001, I guess I just didn’t realise he would be with the first team from the off. He certainly looks like he has the ability though.

{Ed001's Note - he does have the ability, it is attitude that will determine his future though.}

5.) 02 Aug 2019 11:47:22
Ed001 any chance on doing a little article on him please. I have absolutely no idea of the lad until we signed him and only time I’ve seen him play was his very good cameo this week.

{Ed001's Note - I have added him to the player profiles list for you.}

6.) 02 Aug 2019 11:51:31
Out of interest, did Larouci, Bobby Duncan and Hoever get sent back from Evian? I was hoping Hoever especially would be staying with the first team.

7.) 02 Aug 2019 12:35:41
Adam, all three were sent back to Melwood, along with Sepp Van Den Berg and Adam Lewis.

8.) 02 Aug 2019 12:43:41
I have ed002, however I'm not sure it's relevant. If every youngster is expecting game time and chances regardless they are simply naive, similarly if they think no one will get released. However there has from the media been many narratives for different clubs over the last 10 years of youth is simply not given a chance to get through. I think I would be naive to think that as a young man if you continually see read or hear the narrative of you won't get a chance it would not have an effect on your motivation.

At Liverpool we do have examples of players that have come through got an opportunity grabbed it and never look back. This surely has to be a motivation to the younger players no?

I know in the past you have questioned how Liverpool handled young players on loan, I am not sure if you have given your thoughts on how we handle youth as a whole under the current regime, if you have the time?

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are a club who are now looking to buy success - they are not really looking to any but the most elite of the youngsters - although they do continue to take one a year from Chelsea for some reason. There are likely to be changes coming regarding the trading of youngsters - the matter is to be discussed with various clubs and UEFA - FIFA are not going to be party to initial discussions.}

9.) 02 Aug 2019 13:43:01
finally a transfer! Liverpool are a club looking to buy Issac Success from Watford.

10.) 02 Aug 2019 15:51:50
I was disappointed with the kane mocking tbh. But he looks a great player. I predict he'll be one of the worlds best players in 5/ 6 years time, if not before.

{Ed025's Note - looks a great player robbie?, how much have you actually seen of this young kid mate?, to forecast that he will become one of the worlds best players at this stage is laughable..but not unexpected, liverpool fans are whoppers..

11.) 02 Aug 2019 15:55:09
Can't wait to see this guy in action. Looks a real prospect. It's been a while since we've had a silly haircut in the first team too.

{Ed025's Note - you have mane STG who has got a bit of a lily munster thing going on and salah has got a head like a busted couch mate.. :)

12.) 02 Aug 2019 16:17:57
Fair comment ed025. I haven't seen much of him but he played at 15! In a competitive match. Youngest ever prem player. You have to be special for that. I stand by my prediction.

{Ed025's Note - my youngest granddaughter is 8 months old robbie and im predicting she will end up as the queen of sheba...same thing mate..

13.) 02 Aug 2019 23:10:06
Can't wait for all those non elite youngsters to come through they'll be class 😂 the elite are the only ones who could get into our squad and challenge for places the same as most clubs. We could of course keep loaning them out until they're 25 hoping that one day they'll become worth something? Or do we just loan them until they're fed up and we've ruined their careers? Let's instead have 30+ players on loan so that in the event we get a first team transfer ban for cheating we can call them back and use them for a year as a contingency plan.

14.) 03 Aug 2019 03:10:59
I wouldn't read much into the idea that he's been kept in Evian solely for the reason of being used in the first team regularly. I think klopp may want to just get a look at him, see what his strengths and weaknesses are. Being a training camp where the team are constantly together day and night klopp might have wanted to see what kind of person he is as well as what kind of player.

He's only a child and his immature video this week would have frustrated the management, I'm sure klopp had a word to remind him that won't be tolerated. While giving him the chance to show his ability.

02 Aug 2019 10:17:07
For any of you Fifa players on here, it looks like Kenny Dalglish, Ian Rush and John Barnes are all being added as Icons in the next game! I know most won't care, but for me its exciting to be able to use them alongside our great team today!

alexdavies1993

1.) 02 Aug 2019 13:04:11
I don't play fifa anymore but that is pretty sweet!

2.) 02 Aug 2019 13:44:05
As cool as that sounds I haven't bought FIFA for a few years, unfortunately it's just a buggy, microtransaction ridden mess these days.

3.) 02 Aug 2019 17:39:19
It’s been that way since fifa15 possibly even 14. FIFA’s best days are long behind them now, fifa 13 was brilliant.

4.) 02 Aug 2019 22:29:04
Fifa 07 was the last good one. Loved 07 and 04, great times.

25 Jun 2019 19:40:36
I'm going to need someone to decipher Sparky's tweets for me haha.

alexdavies1993

1.) 25 Jun 2019 19:58:01
I think the only one to decipher that lot is sparky himself mate lol.

2.) 25 Jun 2019 20:24:00
Is the banana splits a we hint about the FAB four getting back together. couthino?

{Ed002's Note - You are smart.}

3.) 25 Jun 2019 20:30:10
Tra la no!

4.) 25 Jun 2019 20:30:29
hahahaha!

5.) 25 Jun 2019 20:55:39
Only account on twitter I actually follow properly. Absolutely zero idea what sparky is saying 100% of the time, but you got to love the tweets. Come on Ed002 give us a little clue as to what sparks was tweeting.

{Ed002's Note - I cant help at all, I have not seen his latest offerings.}

6.) 25 Jun 2019 21:31:26
I do wonder if sparks is hinting at an exit rather than an incoming. That's my night sorted anyway, checking to see if anyone has managed to work it out. Clever old sparky strikes again.

7.) 25 Jun 2019 21:43:17
Ive had a look and cant work it out Istanbul. Like you I think he is on about a departing player not an arrival. Salah perhaps?

8.) 25 Jun 2019 21:57:30
What's he tweeted?

9.) 25 Jun 2019 22:03:51
If the old dog is suggesting Salah is leaving this summer, he's either A. winding us up or B. Had a few to many gins, barmy dog that one ;) .

10.) 25 Jun 2019 22:17:58
Sparky has been pondering who his favourite Banana Split is. Has to be Fleegle, the guitarist and singer. Obviously Drooper is out - girls never go with bass players (unless it is accidently) . Bingo is not the smartest but Snorky is very cool indeed.

11.) 25 Jun 2019 22:21:55
That's what I take from it salah
Bobby his fave
Salah is out
Bingo I'm lost
But man is very cool indeed.

12.) 25 Jun 2019 22:24:01
Or is it someone is shopping at lfc and it's not salah as nobody wants his "clause"

13.) 25 Jun 2019 23:01:20
Living in a bubble . bubble . Its very possible the tweet have nothing to do with Liverpool FC and it's all about the Torries leadership contest.

We need another attacking midfielder in my opinion, we have enough forwards but no AM.

This is how i see your list above
Henderson - Box 2 box / DM
Wijnaldum - Box 2 box
Fabinho - DM
MIlner - Box 2 Box / AM (But ageing won't be a major starter)
Keita - Box 2 box
Oxlade-Chamberlain - AM (Coming back from a heavy layoff)
Lallana - Should be sold, as can't be relied upon.

From how i seen it we only have 2 AM one of which is ageing and will possibly only have 1 more season and Ox who has just come back from a long injury and could easily get a few niggles keeping him out for short periods. That means we are back to just Box 2 box midfielders and DM with little creativity coming from the midfield. I know a lot of our chances come from our fullbacks, but we need to have more options in attacking, someone to play balls through the defence. Although i do believe this is one of Keita's strong points in his game, so hopefully he steps up there.

I'm assuming Lovren is close to completing a move to Italy, so they are linking us to CBs.

I would be made up with Lala he looks a great player and if he could adapt to the premier league would be a good signing if we were to go for him!

Ed i thought i read someone that the courts said they were not allowed to appeal?

alexdavies1993

{Ed002's Note - They cannot appeal unless they have a chance of overturning the decision. It is a matter they will discuss Alex.}

Would have loved VVD to win it, but Messi scoring 51 and assisting 22 means he heavily deserved it. Messi is such a phenomenal player that these stats have become normal, if Salah had scored and assisted that many we would be expecting him to win every single award. Unfortunately for other players as long as Messi is still playing, nobody else stands much of a chance.

It was because Pep was moaning how our players were reacting to De Bruyne being down and the game stop straight away, so Klopp, Hendo and Robbo just after were shouting how Man City just ignored that Divock was down for a while a they carried on. They were all pointing at where Divock went down.

Why would Mignolet start over Alisson?
