Ed002,

Two quick questions regarding transfers if you'd be as so kind to lend your expertise.

Lloyd Kelly - Do we still hold interest in the young LB? To my knowledge of the championship he's strong, tall and quick. Can also play CB. A player who can fill two defensive responsibilities similar to Gomez at CB and RB.

Secondly - With it looking likely Lallana and Milner will be heading towards the door (if you believe stories) . Do you see any CM's coming in? Would love it if we went after Lewis Cook. I see a lot of potential in him, again strong in the tackle but knows where the goal is and always look for the forward pass. reminds me of a younger Milner.

Thanks Eds.

Yumaton

{Ed002's Note - I cannot say whether or not there is any firm interest in Lloyd Kelly, but I can say that Liverpool have looked at a couple of younger CBs as I have explained and other potential options like both Lloyd Kelly and Aidan Wilson who have been "recommended" to the club by an "agent" who may be open to cutting corners. More than that I cannot say without some issues arising. Certainly Liverpool made no offer for him.

Nicolo Barella was of interest to Liverpool and has been watched a couple of times fairly recently, so it is not unreasonable, particularly if Keita doesn't pick up.}

Hi Eds, Question for any takers. Is Fabinho really a target for P$G?

Yumaton

{Ed002's Note - PSG were previously interested in Fabinho but that would have gone when he moved to Liverpool in the summer. For the DM role they now have very clear other targets although for one reason (selling club do not want to sell to PSG) or other (priced out of a move) they are not having a great deal of success right now.}

1.) 28 Nov 2018 23:09:42
Can appreciate why no one wants to sell to PSG, terrible club.

{Ed002's Note - Why are they terrible. Because the change, adapt abuse? That is the way it is now.}

2.) 29 Nov 2018 00:08:27
Their arrogance given they have won absolutely nothing but a poor league having spent a fortune to buy egotistical cheating greedy players, apart from that they are lovely 😊.

3.) 29 Nov 2018 08:28:06
Lets not mix players and club up here. As a club their fantastic, with a now unbelievable global brand that's been built up from very little. Yes money is a factor but they've still managed what many haven't in that area.

Diving/ playacting players however, is a different story. Part of the game now I suppose, but I'll never be able to appreciate it as 'sport' when I watch it.

4.) 29 Nov 2018 09:16:11
As a club they're fantastic? Are we just going to ignore the despicable policy they employed at their youth levels, something they've just swept under the carpet again after a pointless investigation?

Hi Reds and Eds,

Just came back from a year in Georgia where i was lucky enough to see Atlanta play a few times. Miguel Alamrion, attacking midfielder has some strong links to Arsenal, have Liverpool looked at him or any MLS players for that matter?

I know the MLS is a few streets away from European football in terms of quality but they do have some very talented players. How long do you think it will be before clubs around Europe start bringing MLS players over. Its quite common in Germany. McKennie for example at Schalke brilliant young midfielder, will Premier league clubs soon catch on to this?

I know the second part isn't really Liverpool related but i would appreciate your 2 'cents'.

Thanks Eds, if you have any questions regarding MLS feel free to comment, the level of football isn't as bad people think.

Yumaton

{Ed002's Note - You really need the Arsenal page about Almiron where everything has been answered. Whilst there is interest in him from a couple of Premier League sides, and from Italy, there has been no interest from Liverpool. In terms of interest in other MLS players and putting aside a bad experience with Brooks Lennon, the last there was interest in from Liverpool, as I recall, was LA GAlaxy's Gyasi Zardes perhaps four years ago. Premier League clubs will rarely look to the MLS because of Work Permits not being easy to obtain. Liverpool had a great scout who used to provide fantastic leads from South America and he used to cover the US as well - but the current regime kicked him out for reasons that were never explained to him.}

1.) 16 Oct 2018 13:02:33
Which scout was that ed?

{Ed002's Note - Diego Caniggia.}

2.) 16 Oct 2018 13:06:35
Thanks Ed002, I'll have a look at the arsenal page now. He was just one of the stand out players, Villalba was another player who looked the real McCoy. Zarades, Strange one that woudln't have thought he'd fit the Klopp of Rodgers way of play. Do work permits affect players going to the US or is it only into the Uk? Because i might be wrong but Im sure there was interest in Reece Oxford going to the states to play his game.

I'll be sure to use this site again. Thanks for your help.

{Ed002's Note - Players like Villalba cannot move to the UK. Local Work Permit rules exist in most countries, like the US. In the US if a non-resident professional sportman wants to earn money then they need a P1 or O1 visa.}

3.) 16 Oct 2018 17:03:57
Thank you ed.

Eds, couple questions, i'd really appreciate your views on them.

Is it true that Julian Brandt has a €25 million release clause in his contracts. No secret that Klopp is an admirer and no secret we need a left sided attacker. Is he one of our targets this summer? With the way Leverkusen play, fitting into Klopps system shouldn't be too difficult for the youngster.

Also What do you think our best midfield trio is? My opinion - Fabinho, Gini, Ox.

Yumaton

{Ed002's Note - (a) Unless it is a "termination clause" and "clause in Julian Brandt's contract is of no relevance to Liverpool. Liverpool were interested in JB but opted to buy Salah instead. (b) AOC has been out for a lengthy period so I would doubt he would be considered for the "best" of the midfield for Liverpool right now. Certainly Fabinho has now settled in well, Wijnaldum is having a good season and Henderson is the captain and is always fully committed. If AOC can come back at his best and if Liverpool look to adding a proper LM in the summer it could well improve next season.}

1.) 01 Apr 2019 10:33:45
Appreciate your reply Ed, Yeah i understand your point about AOC, i may be living off the hype of last season but i just think his pace and urge to constantly bring the ball forward isn't matched by anyone in our squad, certainly not matched in pace anyway. I would love to put Naby in but i feel he's been the biggest myth we've signed since the Serbian 'Wonderkid' Markovic, i hope he makes me eat my words next season.

2.) 01 Apr 2019 11:38:41
I do have a feeling Brandt is our number one target this summer, would be a great signing in my opinion.

3.) 01 Apr 2019 12:38:16
Milner has to be up there for pur best midfielder. Gini for me has been the most consistent. Fab has been a revelation but not until the 2nd half. What happened to keita? Is he still injured. He clearly has bags of natural talent. Im surprised that he hasn't taken the league by storm.

I predict he will next year.

4.) 01 Apr 2019 12:50:12
I'm not sure on our financials for the STW but i would be confident in saying he's affordable. 22yrs old, I don't see him with an ego issue or rather nothing has ever been reported of it. So would be understanding in playing 2nd fiddle to Mane. young, fast and dynamic. Could be better in front of goal but his assists this season have been incredible. If he had a better number 9 to aim for i would imagine that number would be higher too. As Ed mentioned above if we can bring in a real left sided player we'd be looking very good for the new season.

5.) 01 Apr 2019 12:56:07
Brandt would be a perfect addition to our squad this summer. He is a huge upgrade on Lallana and also covers for Mane on the left. He will also be an insurance policy if OX cannot get back to his pre injury form.
We definitely need better squad depth. We may be top of the league but there is still a lot of scope for improving the overall squad quality if we are to compete on 4 fronts next season.

6.) 01 Apr 2019 13:34:21
1-Klopp likes Brandt.
2-We are looking for LM.
3-Brandt plays LW LM CM and can play AM RM RW
4-No Brandtnier.

7.) 01 Apr 2019 19:49:38
I would be chuffed to bits if we signed Brandt as he can play anywhere behind or around the CF. Also, he is a MUCH better player now than he was when Klopp wanted him.

26 Mar 2019 16:35:55
Hi Eds,

How many of the clubs incoming transfer bids are public knowledge or are all incoming transfers known about.

Say for example Schalke fancied a look at Lallana and put a bid in. would that always be known or do some fly under the radar until ones accepted.

Yumaton

{Ed002's Note - It depends on a bunch of stuff.}

18 Mar 2019 09:20:25
Morning Eds,

Whats the problem with Shaqiri at the moment? can't seem to get a game for love no miney, is it due to perfomance in training?

Also have Liverpool got any remaining interest in Gomez, centre forward at Celta Vigo. Seem to remember a few weeks back when the Timo Werner talk was at the forefront that he'd be a second option? Is he still being looked at.

Cheers Lads.

Yumaton

{Ed001's Note - there is no problem, he just has not been performing when on the pitch.}

1.) 18 Mar 2019 10:29:25
It's a shame as the 4-2-3-1 was working well for us against the bigger teams in particular. Hopefully he'll get up to speed with the way Klopp and team likes to play and he'll pick up were he originally started for us if not can see his chances even more limited with Ox back fit.

{Ed001's Note - it is the way Shaqiri has acted everywhere he has been, which is worrying. He always starts off putting in work, then feels like he has his feet under the table and stops bothering.}

2.) 18 Mar 2019 11:28:47
Yeah that is a worry ed001. It's strange as well because even if he feels he has his feet under the table he clearly hasn't as his game time has been so limited. You'd think the message is clear.

I hope its position the club look to fill whether that be from the current playing squad or elsewhere. Handy having another formation we are well drilled in when the games aren't quite going our way.

{Ed001's Note - in the past he has always blamed others for not recognising his talent, rather than realising he is the reason for sitting on the sidelines.}

15 Feb 2019 14:47:08
Eds. With Grujic smashing it in the bundesliga (watching bundesliga highlights and 23carragold posts also speaks highly of him) why are so many fans keen to get him gone or don't think there's a place in the team for him? Yet some posts on here seem to think Allan has future at the club.

Could be wrong but i would rather see him in the squad next season. what do you think?

Yumaton

{Ed001's Note - I don't know he has shown some attitude problems so I am not sure about him and his dad is a pain in the arse.}

1.) 15 Feb 2019 15:39:24
I think the plan is for him to be loaned out to a champions league team!

2.) 15 Feb 2019 18:03:23
Has he shown any attitude problems at Cardiff last season or Hertha this though? I realise him and his father seemed to have been pains in his 1st season with us but maybe a couple of seasons playing regular football will have shown him how much he still had to learn during his time with us.

{Ed001's Note - yes, he was given a public dressing down for not trying in training last season.}

3.) 15 Feb 2019 19:34:16
Ed, Then he'd better shape up with his attitude issues got that's not going to fly under Klopp regardless of his talent.

4.) 15 Feb 2019 20:43:35
There's definitely a player there, talent-wise I think he can make it with us but obviously will have to get the attitude right. Klopp won't put up with any messing.

30 Oct 2018 11:08:31
Hi Eds and Fans. Question - If available and both parties were happy would you take Dele Alli?

Yumaton

{Ed001's Note - that depends, would Klopp want him? If so then yes, if not, then no.}

1.) 30 Oct 2018 11:33:48
Wish we could've taken him from MK Dons back then, he'd probably cost the earth to sign him now.

2.) 30 Oct 2018 11:51:22
If he cut out his diving and petulant attitude then he could be a real player. It does feel as though he’s drop off a bit over the last 18 months though.

3.) 30 Oct 2018 12:19:50
big fan of him. Strength, skill, height and pace. Rare combo of attributes in a Attacking midfielder.

4.) 30 Oct 2018 13:02:04
No from me.

5.) 30 Oct 2018 13:05:40
It's about time for dele to grow up. Those hand shakes make me cringe. He has real talent and I still believe he will one day play for his boyhood club. I reckon levy would sell for around 50/ 60.

6.) 30 Oct 2018 14:00:55
Would have loved him from MK Don's, especially with the squad we currently had at the time, but I don't like how he's been developed.

He wouldn't slot straight in and while he's definitely young enough to adapt, with the current squad, I'm not sure it would be worth taking the time to do so. Not with the Ox coming back, Shaqiri doing well at 10, Keita still adapting and Trent likely moving to the midfield at some point.

7.) 30 Oct 2018 14:40:53
Nah. Waste of money, I'd be hoping for someone a little better than Ali if we were ever to get a big money midfielder.

8.) 30 Oct 2018 14:58:40
I am a big fan of his but for me he hasn't improved one bit in last 2 seasons. If he had come to us years ago id be thinking he would be in out top 3 players. Only by judging how klopp has got others playing from other teams.

9.) 30 Oct 2018 19:07:03
With Salah, there. Alli can stay exactly where he is. Good player BUT an unrepentant diver and brazen cheat. As for whether we should have had him back when BR was manager and was keen to come to us, what would have changed? BR was so incompetent that he did not know where or how to use Bobbie who is not an Anfield idol? Or what he did with Emre Can, moving everywhere bar in goal for the disaster we all witnessed? With that in mind, Alli would prolly never had fulfilled his potential here with that kind of managerial incompetence, like Bobbie and Can did (thank heavens Klopp rescued these players) so in some way, I'm happy he did not join us then cos he'd have prolly been ruined.

10.) 30 Oct 2018 21:37:07
Not for me. He seems to spend his whole training sessions coming up with new dances and handshakes rather than improving his game.
Not the type of big time Charlie we need at the club.

11.) 30 Oct 2018 20:09:09
I don't think you can say he hasn't improved in the last 2 years.
At MK Dons he was a CM and bossed games from the centre of the park. He won the ball, drove forward from CM and scored some long range bangers (I watched close up)
Now he is more of a flair AM linking with Kane and arriving in the box whilst using tricks and flicks.
He has adapted well but you can't judge playing against League 1 to teams like Real Madrid.

12.) 30 Oct 2018 23:37:36
I would love to have him at the club he changed the game last night when he came on. If I remember rightly that he came to Anfield years ago and was suppose to meet Gerard but poor Gerard was in bed and didn't get up to meet him. I think that made his mind up, he was suppose to be going to us or spuds and the rest is history.

13.) 31 Oct 2018 04:19:36
No, Rogers wanted to sign him but the board said no to 8 mil! He would have been good for us and may still end up here. We have signed quite a few Liverpool fans.

{Ed001's Note - that is not true. He was not 8m for one. For second the board never said no. Alli has even said himself he was supposed to be met by his idol Steven Gerrard when he came to Melwood, but Gerrard was sleeping and no one woke him, so he didn't sign then. He was still keen on joining but Spurs came in and won him over by having people actually bother to turn up when they were supposed to and made him feel like they wanted him, unlike us. I mean really, that shows the issue with Rodgers, he was too weak with the players to even clinch a signing he wanted as he was too scared to wake Gerrard to get the deal through!}

14.) 31 Oct 2018 20:24:57
Judging by how a lot of prospects turned out under BR, I don't think he was even going to get a chance to play. He got Spurs and we didn't turn out so bad so win win situation for every one. E.

15.) 31 Oct 2018 19:44:01
Spot on, Ed. Robbiesline with Ed's comment, allow me to I add "spineless and weak" to BR's ever-growing shortcomings.

Sure I've seen the asking price for Pepe closer to 40 than 80? i don't get why people are scared of Liverpool have strength in depth and rotating the squad. Boggles my mind.

Ed002, I didn't think Chiesa would have been a big Marquee signing, however I've just seen his €70 asking price. *gulp* I miss the days when you could get players like Torres for 24m.

Thanks Eds.

Yumaton

{Ed002's Note - I did not realise they dropped the price so far - a higher price was told to at least two sides who have held discussions with Fiji about him. Another side is looking for discussions as soon as they can - I will be able to find out what they are asked as well.}

Question Ed002,

at what stage do the players we sign stop becoming replacements and start becoinmg additions to the squad. If we want a team to compete on all fronts without straining positions shouldn't we be looking to add more quality depth?

Obviously on the right its different with Shaqiri being there unless he was moved more central.

Yumaton

{Ed002's Note - The expectations of many of the fans are completely unrealistic with them thinking numerous £100M players will be added to give the squad depth. Liverpool are not in the position to make such purchases at all. Squad depth comes from having players who are content to come in and play when required and not players who demand playing time. Liverpool need decent cover for certain positions, not the “marquee” signings many of the fans expects the change in stance to try and buy the league cannot go on much longer.}
