Probably in dreamland but a part of me hopes we get Pereira, Van Dijk, Mendy, Keita, Brandt and Aubameyang this summer. Perhaps John Henry will find a couple of hundred million in his sofa, best hope of that is if Bill Gates comes round for tea or the equivalent of that in America.

City seem serious about getting Mendy. You can cross him off the list. Aubameyang off to PSG and VVD will not be joining as per Ed002. Brandt, periera, Keita, Sessegnon, senior LB (Bertrand maybe) most likely to join.
Have a feeling Sturridge will be given one more opportunity to prove his fitness next season. If those issues persist, Klopp may dip into the January market for a striker.

2.) 27 May 2017 15:17:36
Ed002 has said on the City page that Bernat or Grimaldo are Pep's first choice LBs, not Mendy. I'd love to see Mendy at Liverpool but he'd be supremely expensive.

3.) 27 May 2017 17:34:25
Indian Buzzer is probably right - I'd personally be happy with those signings - a CB would also be great but EDs saying this isn't going to happen. It's baffling after the woeful season we've had in defence and how poor lovren and klavan have been that we're not considering a new CB. If we want to really be in the mix next season then surely a solid partner for Matip is needed.

4.) 27 May 2017 20:17:14
Ed002 didn't say that VVD is not joining; he said he is not aware of LFC looking to bringing in a CB.

It really is confusing that the Liverpool following journalists keep saying that Keita and VVD are LFC's first choice. I like these players and I think they will significantly improve the first team, but we have all seen this type of information leak in the media from the club (Sanchez, Ramirez, Dempsey, Chilwell etc) .

And when these transfers don't work out, there will be an obvious backlash from the fans, particularly if we lose a key player this summer. Like I said before, this aspect of leaking stuff to the media for short term fan appreciation from the club is just ridiculous.

5.) 27 May 2017 23:48:28
There's no probably to it. Can people just stop with the VVD rumors?

After Bernardo Silva's move to City, Sterling's future at the Etihad must surely be in doubt. He's likely to take up the Navas utility player role and with City struggling to fit all their attackers in one team I wouldn't be surprised to see him struggle for game-time this season unless he is stuck at right back; Jesus, Aguero, Bernardo Silva and Sane are all superior players to him and are surely ahead of him in the pecking order.

Some may mention the word 'karma' but I would mention the words 'poor decision', 'greed' and 'bad agent'. Sterling hasn't blown his career but what looked like a career destined for the top of the game when he was a key player for us at 20 now looks likely to fizzle out at the good player level. That is without taking into account the very real possibility of Pep usually him as a makeshift right back which would stunt him even more. I don't feel sorry for him neither am I celebrating what has become of his career but what I am doing is shrugging my shoulders and thinking to myself you made your bed now lie in it, not because he left Liverpool but because of the reasons he left us for, in life and also in football, you live and die by your decisions. I also hope that this serves as a warning to other talented youngsters who have their eyes on the money rather than maximizing their potential, Rodwell, Shaw, Wilshere, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Walcott, Wright-Phillips and potentially Barkley are other names that come to mind who have and could fail to maximize their potential.

1.) 27 May 2017 14:54:24
It may have been a poor decision but who knows how he would have gotten on if he'd stayed? Truth is he always struggled with scoring, he just doesn't strike the ball consistently well enough IMO and panics a bit in the box. Citeh paid up thinking he'd develop that side but he hasn't.

2.) 27 May 2017 23:56:18
Sterling still struggles in front of goal and that part has not changed even with better players around him. I believe that had he gotten rid of that agent of his and had Klopp as manager, he would have been better than he is right now but then again, would we have gone after Mane? Go figure.

3.) 28 May 2017 00:56:58
Yep his final pass is often the wrong option.

I think he is struggling with confidence az he is now a big mobey buy on top wages and expected to deliver

Easier said than done.

Merry Christmas and good turkey to all, Eds included, a massive thank you for putting up with our collective ramblings all year round. I've written a letter to santa complaining about the service and he's assured after many long years my present will finally be delivered, so it's official guys (and girls), Liverpool are all set to win the league.

The Lil Magician

1.) 25 Dec 2016 07:03:15
Yes that is correct. I did give my word :)
Merry Christmas!

What a great time to get a goal, it was a joy to behold, that's what football is about. Mind you, if Everton had done the same thing I'd be saying the exact opposite, fine margins eh? Haha. I'll take a stoppage time victory away to Everton in the Merseyside Derby any day of the week. Very important victory too as it keeps us neck length ahead of Arsenal and keeps us right on the heels of Chelsea, who we have at Anfield later on. Also Sadio Mane has been nothing short of a revelation since signing - and no I'm not over-exaggerating because of his late winner.

Steven Gerrard is the greatest ever Liverpool player that I've watched in my lifetime, perhaps even the greatest ever Liverpool player. He is Mr Liverpool, captain fantastic, one of our very own, the man for the big occasions. For so many years He put our team on his back and carried us to success, I mean how many players cam say they captained a side with Djimi Traore in it to champions league success!? What He has achieved in football is highlighted by the sheer number of personal accolades he has in football: 3 FIFA World team of the year appearances; 8 PFA Team of the Year appearances and 1 PFA player of the year award.

Then there's all the football legends congratulating him on his illustrious career and wonderful ability that he showed on the pitch; Kaka, Lampard, Henry, Matthaus, the list is endless; Fergie even said He was more complete than Vieira. Gerrard has dug us out of many holes and worn the captain's armband longer than any other, he's also created so many iconic moments. There's the FA Cup Final of 2006 brace, his Champions league final header and who can forget that special, "Oh ya Beauty" goal? Gerrard has done so much for the club and the brand of Liverpool, many youngsters have become fans because of him.

Gerrard is larger than life, he is more than a footballer, his name is synonymous with goals in big games, belters from all angles and all distances, success, greatness, loyalty, light at the end of a dark tunnel (I remember him scoring a late free kick vs Villa away in particular when we couldn't seem to get through) . I can't for the life of me see why some want to chip away at his legacy on here. I personally don't care what Gerrard was like behind the scenes, he did the business on the pitch and that's what matters. This reminds me of a simpsons episode when Lisa found out Jebediah Springfield was actually a murderous pirate and wanted to expose it at all costs, not realizing she was not just undoing a man but also the pride and hope that he represented. I am not calling your liars but Gerrard has done so much for the club, so let's focus on the plenty of good he did rather than the couple of negatives.

The Lil Magician

1.) 25 Nov 2016 22:03:12
". I tried to sign him three times in my career. At Chelsea, Inter and Real. But He wouldn't come. He was too loyal. "

Jose Mourinho

". He might not be at the level of Messi and Ronaldo, But there was a period where he was the best midfielder in the world. "
Zidane

". He for me is Liverpool. "
Henry

". Steven Gerrard is the only player to score in the final of a League Cup, FA Cup, Uefa Cup and Champions league. "

". One of the best I've played with. One of the best I've played against. One of the best there has ever been. Enjoy your retirement mate. "
Wayne Rooney.

2.) 25 Nov 2016 22:22:53
"He is Mr Liverpool" and "Gerrard is larger than life"? This sort of thinking is exactly why we have become a better TEAM since he left.

Why can't people just praise him for being a world class player without bringing out throw away comments and exaggerations? I loved watching him, but I hope to god we never let anyone become so powerful at our club again.

3.) 25 Nov 2016 22:28:28
Coz we are fans MK, emotionally attached fans and not football pundits.

4.) 26 Nov 2016 00:37:39
Emotional attachment should have its limits and put into context which is what we should all strive for. MK is spot on, Harry.

5.) 26 Nov 2016 05:10:45
For those that watched them, Kenny is King and Fowler is God and Stevie was Mr Liverpool, etc, etc. They may be superlatives and exaggerations but it reflects how we feel about our favorite playes and the club.
If there was no emotional investment or players cast as heroes, you may as well be watching a game of draughts.

6.) 26 Nov 2016 06:24:24
Hamilton

Wrong. The moment people keep a limit the club loose its soul.

7.) 26 Nov 2016 07:30:43
While there were negatives to Stevie's time, maybe a thank you to a thrilling player that continued to amaze me and he brought me a lot of joy, is a nice way to send him off for now and the negatives discussed in due course.

8.) 26 Nov 2016 11:49:16
There can't be any question of the impact Stevie G has had on the club and on us as fans. A complete midfielder and an inspiration.
Questioning his potential suitability as a coach or manager shouldn't be seen as a detraction from his stature as a player.

9.) 26 Nov 2016 16:58:03
Well said Lil magician, nice to see credit given instead of venom like of some other shameful posters.

Waro you can't just up and spend 800m on players, you have to balance the books, unless you want us to go into administration. You and the other members of the SOS have to realise that FSG are doing a good job, they are putting in their own money and you should know that given your access to Ed002's wealth of knowledge. Please get out of La la land and realise that if you charge into FSG's office with swords and take over the club, the glory days won't suddenly return, football has changed and we are on the backfoot commercially. We have a talented squad and success should return under the helm of Judgen Klopp, you SOS lot will do nothing but make that process more difficult. I don't suppose any of you have 100m hidden in the back of your couch? If not, stop causing unnecessary conflict and support your club.

First sentence Ed002, {Ed002's Note - Winger Julian Brandt turned down a contract extension from Wolfsburg with Bayer Leverkusen, Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund all showing interest with Chelsea offering a player in part exchange in the summer of 2013.

I assume it should have read {Ed002's Note - Winger Julian Brandt turned down a contract extension from Bayer Leverkusen with, Wolfsburg, Manchester United etc as he plays for Leverkusen. No biggie though as it's obvious what you meant.

The Lil Magician

{Ed002's Note - That was in the summer of 2013 when he played for Wolfsburg, so it is correct.}

Steer well clear, great player but first of all we already have 4 great options as it is to play 1 position, so who would you sell to buy him? Secondly the guy's a proven asshat, stole his teammates' wife from him and threatened to hire some Argentinian mobsters to kill a certain section of fans in his book. I don't want him anywhere near this squad of hard-working, quality team-players Klopp has assembled.

Firmino was a defensive midfielder when he was younger actually Annie, he attributes that to why the defensive side of his game his so strong.

Ah, so if he was to return to the game he'd have to fulfill his contract bar any special agreement with the club to cancel it?

The Lil Magician

{Ed002's Note - Are looking for more ways for Liverpool to attempt to cheat or what?}

Not ITK but I'd assume we're looking at a range of young British talent that we feel has the potential to make it to the first team and is within reach all the time, Sessegnon is one that comes to mind who I'm sure we have our eye on.

Loans for both, perhaps not Ejaria if we end up failing to buy Keita. Ojo especially needs one, his development appears to be stagnating.

You've missed out Wijnaldum who's also been a great signing. Usually goes under the radar but keeps us ticking and has popped up with some very important goals for us.
