Really good interview with Nat Phillips available on Sky Sports News for anyone interested. Comes across as a really determined and level headed lad.

I for one would love him to stay but can see why he will probably look to leave come the summer. He hasn't done much wrong playing for us and give his all every time. Hope he can put a run together and play well for the rest of the season and get that move he deserves or force his way into Jurgens long term plans. I would certainly prefer him (on current form, not potential) over Kabak.

Let's hope whoever plays we get the 3 points tonight!

yea mate, especially since Matip went down I think his maturity is what we have needed at the back this season more so than an ability to un 30km/ hr and spray 60 yard diagonals. I've not seen or heard much of Davies but feel like he'd be a similar kind of personality. that determined type borne through grinding it out at lower levels, but at their age they are ready mentality to fill this kind of gap. Really feel like Klopp has missed a trick here not leaning on Phillips more and instead continuously playing Hendo and Feb out of position.

Hopefully for Nat he gets a move to a decent club next season and be a primary target there.

He’s done absolutely fine since he has come in, he’s competent and brave, not the quickest or most skilful but gives 110% and is a good defender. To me he’s a perfectly reasonable fourth choice. I think people forget how limited a player Carragher was, but that his grit, determination and never say die attitude made up for that, I see the same qualities in Phillips, only Phillips is bigger and more physical that Carra.

Thought he sounded a bit like Houlier in parts his accent.

Pity he was dropped tonight then.

He's not even on the bench so probably an injury.

We are just missing our 5 senior CBs, then.

I was at the game last night and you are right both had solid games and impressed.

I think with Milner slowly phasing out, Keita never being fit, there is room for both as squad players short term and hopefully both pushing on the door for a regular spot long term (2-3 years) once Henderson, Thiago are slowing down. Just my view.

Good grief VVVV, it's not all doom and gloom mate.

We've got some very talented young players coming through and the clubs recruitment of late has been very good.

Try and enjoy what have been some truly exceptional years and don't worry about years down the line, who knows could even end the season with a trophy or two.

Acrock, that isn't correct. The only way 4th would not secure champions league football is if both the winners of the CL and Europa finished outside of the top 4. This can no longer happen this season after Arsenal went out in the last round of Europa. Therefore 4th will secure Champions league qualification regardless of the Champions league result and Chelsea's league position. Hope that helps.

Possibly Berge but would depend on who were to leave in midfield.

I like the look of Andersen at Fulham as a back up CB but he's only on loan so wouldn't benefit from their relegation in signing him.

You are right there are some good players in there, but how many would get in at City? That's the level of squad cover we need, genuine title winning quality. The players listed are good PL players, but players in a winning PL team? I don't think they are. Obviously we got some success in Gini and Robbo buying this way and just my opinion on the above crop.

Love the question though.

I'm 27 and the thoughts you've outlined above are exactly the same as mine Scarface. Probably a lot of young fans since birth who have been through the ringer with the Hodgson experiment etc. feel the same. Summarised it well mate good post. Up the reds.
