I think Klopp is amassing too much power, and should get rid of his friend and yes man Schmadtke and concentrate more on the football side of things, but they are trying this approach which it seems is only for the short term. I still have full faith in his managerial and coaching abilities, though.

1.) 29 Aug 2023 19:11:50
How do you know Schmadtke is Klopp's friend and Yes man?

2.) 29 Aug 2023 19:12:52
I'm sure he will sleep easier knowing that.

He's Jurgen klopp. He will be gone one day and all you'll want to do is go back and enjoy these days.

Just enjoy this once in a lifetime ride.

3.) 29 Aug 2023 19:18:43
The only person Klopp needs to be rid of is Linders.

4.) 29 Aug 2023 19:43:42
Ljinders needs to get back in his lane and stop thinking ahead to the day Klopp quits.

He's the assistant, not the manager.

5.) 29 Aug 2023 19:47:34
Think Gary Mac would be an ideal number 2.

6.) 29 Aug 2023 20:01:50
Schmakdt has been woeful.

7.) 29 Aug 2023 20:22:48
HessleRedTom1980, how do you know he has been woeful? Do you know what has been going on behind the scenes?

8.) 29 Aug 2023 21:15:08
Did we lose a game or something?

9.) 29 Aug 2023 22:47:02
Flash, I didn't even know we were playing today.

10.) 29 Aug 2023 23:25:15
I think Schmadtke has been great in comparison to the tea lady, she’s been having a shocker since her arthritis has started playing up. @Hessle, just stop making stuff up mate - it just makes you sound silly.

I don't want to be disrespectful but I think Lavia is a bit too raw to be a direct replacement for Fab. He does some things well but others he's still learning and will come together. I don't doubt there is a good player inside with a high ceiling.

Personally for me I'd like to see us add some experience. Lorente seems a good shout in that regard and of course being a good footballer.

1.) 17 Jul 2023 17:01:08
Of players that have been linked, I think Goretzka, Llorente or Kessie could lay that more experienced pro role.

Someone like Phillips, with his PL experience and the fact he qualifies as HG, would be ideal, other than the question marks over his fitness.

So a few options out there, but I agree that if we lose Fab, Hendo and Thiago we do need a more experienced midfielder in the mix.

2.) 17 Jul 2023 17:10:32
I beg to differ. Are we talking about the Fabinho of last season? Been a great servant but we can’t get away from the fact that he is on the decline and at an accelerated pace mind. Lavia is young and ready to play straight away but has the potential to be a very good player. A lot of us envy the likes of Brighton signing talents before they become too expensive, with Caicedo being a prime example.

We are apparently trying to get a young talent in Lavia before he is completely out of reach in a year or two. But saying he is not the finished article? He is not meant to be the finished article but someone who can come in a play a fair share of games right away but has a high ceiling that Klopp and the coaches can bring him to.

3.) 17 Jul 2023 17:19:23
Fab might have all the experience and knowledge in the world, it means nothing when he can no longer run.

4.) 17 Jul 2023 17:48:25
I agree with Quigz ?.

5.) 17 Jul 2023 18:03:42
If reports are to be believed Amrabat is now our top target.

6.) 17 Jul 2023 18:12:36
OP, there is noting disrespectful in voicing your opinion and saying a young, inexperienced tho talented, is too raw and still has a lot to learn beforea club invests a ton of money on him. That is a valid argument and one many in the fan base share.

For me, it will all depend on how much the club believes if put in the right situations with the right experienced and quality olayers around him, he can be who they think he can be. One can't really know that right now, for sure.

7.) 17 Jul 2023 18:18:15
The Fabinho was run ragged and left #ole open for most of the season. Now I know he was on an 18 month poor streak but he didn't go from one of the best DM's in the world to poor all on his own.

8.) 17 Jul 2023 18:40:38
Would anyone be surprised if Fab went and a replacement isn’t brought in and the money just balances the books.

9.) 17 Jul 2023 18:40:50
Why aren't we after sangare?

10.) 17 Jul 2023 18:43:52
Top G, All Romano tweeted was - "Sofyan Amrabat will be an expensive signing as Fiorentina are tough negotiators. There are many clubs after him from Spain and England. " So I would not presume that is LFC, apparently the player would like Manu.

11.) 17 Jul 2023 18:53:22
I don’t think Fabinho looked good at all last season until Trent moved next to him and gave him some help.
I fully back Trent to have the same impact and help whoever he’s playing next to.

12.) 17 Jul 2023 19:00:23
I trust Klopp's judgement; after all he brought Fabinho in and the lad was World Class for a while. I just hope he steers clear of injury prone players.

In unrelated news, Naby Keita has injured his groin while warming up for a game for Werder Bremen. Out for several weeks, he will miss the start of the season. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

13.) 17 Jul 2023 19:45:22
I wouldn’t be surprised JK but it isn’t a case of just balancing the books, I think we have enough in midfield, especially if Trent is going to play there.

14.) 17 Jul 2023 19:35:30
Hasn’t the Ed’s said Arambat opportunity has gone? Also rags are suggesting that the Mancs want him.

15.) 17 Jul 2023 19:49:36
Start the season without a defensive midfielder. No offence but you don’t know what you’re talking about Ron.

16.) 17 Jul 2023 20:05:40
I think the Amrabat ship has sailed chaps. Ed002 has provided some comprehensive info.

17.) 17 Jul 2023 21:06:11
None taken Tom, it’s about opinions.

18.) 17 Jul 2023 22:29:06
You've misread, Tom. We have a DM in Bajcetic already so the question of starting the season without one simply doesn't arise. Not buying an additional DM is another thing.

19.) 17 Jul 2023 23:00:57
I think Fab was harshly judged last season it was a collective fk up in fairness. I really thought with some younger midfielders around him adding some energy into what was at the most part a lethargic midfield and Trent dropping into CM we would see the best version of Fab again next season but not to be. I trust Klopp to make the right calls.

20.) 18 Jul 2023 00:13:22
I just think it's a big ask to go into the season with two teenagers as the starting CDM.

21.) 18 Jul 2023 04:21:18
Bajcetic is not a DM.

22.) 18 Jul 2023 07:59:51
Ed2 said we upset aramabats entourage so is a no go.

Hi Ed's and Reds,

Just wanted to offer my thoughts on the futures of Harry Wilson and Ryan Kent seems to be a hot topic atm.

My problem with Harry Wilson is that he is good with the ball at his feet other than that he is kinda useless. He would need to add a lot to his game and I don't think currently he has the engine or defensive abilities to play how klopp would want in my opinion. If a good bid was received I wouldn't lose sleep if he was sold. If not give him another loan and if he plays well than we will be asking the same question this time next year. I do think he will be a good player no doubt but maybe just not good enough for us.

In regards to Kent if he was good he would have tore that Scottish league apart and he didn't, he played reasonably well at times but was by no means amazing. It's not as though Livingston and St Mirren would be tough work for a player that could get into our squad. He has a good reputation with the fans who sing his praises but that is down to him playing at his standard which would be better than most in that league and the heart and desire he has shown the club (also throwing one at Scott Brown had a part to play) but 6 goals and a few assists is not enough in that league. I'd sell to the highest bidder and if Edward's can do what he does best we could maybe get 10m for him. Really couldn't see that one biting us in the future.

I just don't think either have the consistency or attributes required to make it at LFC. Some standout elements to each of their games but not enough. If Klopp thinks a Cornetto is a better option I want a strawberry one.

I know the problem with opinions is everyone has one but that's my thoughts, each to their own and all that 😆.

1.) 17 Jul 2019 00:35:58
I know what you're saying quigz and I understand people's worries regarding Wilson's work rate off the ball but I feel he's a real gem and would be sorry to see him leave. Feel he can be an excellent squad player rather than wasting money on a transfer.

2.) 17 Jul 2019 04:53:45
Disagree
Harry wilson is also terrific from deadball and has a real good eye for goal. Plus he delivers excellent corners. He is ideal to give the main starters a rest when required and play those 20-25 games from the bench as required to keep things fresh. As for his tracking back he has not played in a system that has required him to. At derby ut was attacking football and he was almost at the core of most of their decent play. At liverpool klopp can surely add that dimesion to his game.
As for kent he is a winger who doesn't really go for goals but looks to create them. He can also add yo the team from bench because he has the pace.
Of course club is looking for moving the players on with their careers but inwould not mind either or both on the bench coming season. They can both do the job at liverpool.

{Ed001's Note - honestly I really do not know what people see in Wilson. He is average at best. He does not work hard enough in training or on the pitch because that is the way he is, not because of these ridiculous system excuses.}

3.) 17 Jul 2019 05:31:07
I have to agree with Ed001 here, I think Wilson is a player that looks great on a YouTube highlights compilation but I’ve never watched him play and been impressed.

4.) 17 Jul 2019 09:01:58
Ed001 you are talking rubbish. The well renowned football scout who goes by the code name 6 times says Wilson and Kent are the best wingers/ wide attackers ever. Now apologise to him please.

{Ed001's Note - well if he says so, it must be true.}

5.) 17 Jul 2019 19:51:20
I prefer kent. The scottish league is a tough place for skillful youngsters to ply their trade. Its a very physical league. And its hard for a winger to completely change a teams fortunes. He needs good cf, fb and mf around him to be effective imo.

It seems to me young ryan is one big season from making our squad. History tells us that it won't happen but he has a chance.

I have to agree regarding wilson. Shame as he's a real lfc fan. But i haven't seem him do much for us. Scored some nice goals for derby but all from dead ball. That isn't enough to make our squad. Taa is a better dead ball player. Better passer, works harder.

6.) 17 Jul 2019 20:50:34
Irishman, you had me in stitches with this one, man. Seriously tho, I have not seen Wilson play a lot so don't have an opinion on him hence, I will differ to the Ed's who are deep in the weeds on this issue and esp. Klopp who has had Wilson under him for 4 years now, overall. If Klopp does not think Wilso or Kent are good enuff and as Ed01/ 02 have said, he is looking to sell them outright then maybe Klopp knows best here.

Hi ed,
Sorry I haven't donated yet hopefully next payday. New baby so I'm a bit stretched atm. I've been visiting this site for many years before it was ever Liverpool rumours only changed my email address so had to set up a new account. Don't remember my previous user name either but I was the first person to donate when you were stuck in Dubai that time maybe you could check the archives for me 😂😂.

{Ed033's Note - Don't worry about it. Thanks for donating to Ed001.

Without Robertson for the first leg against Porto as we all know. My question is who replaces him Milner or Moreno?

I'd have to be looking at Milner I just think Moreno as we all know is prone to major brain farts. Good to know Joe Gomez will be back. Matip hasn't been bad but Gomez was a class above before his injury.

1.) 16 Mar 2019 04:00:10
I agree, but you got to question - if Klopp plays Milner or Gomez there, why are we paying Moreno's wages every week?

2.) 16 Mar 2019 04:27:00
Because he has a contract stoneage, I don’t understand why that’s difficult to comprehend.

3.) 16 Mar 2019 05:42:26
I prefer moreno.

4.) 16 Mar 2019 06:50:12
Milner at LB for me, but I suspect Klopp will go with Moreno at least at home to give Milner some rest.

5.) 16 Mar 2019 06:58:43
Milner without a second hesitation.

6.) 16 Mar 2019 08:17:38
It is an interesting one because am sure we were offering Moreno a new contract. So if Milner get played it just says Moreno should definitely leave. I’ll just point out that I don’t think Moreno is anywhere near good enough for Liverpool.

7.) 16 Mar 2019 08:35:18
Moreno’s pace or Milner’s reliability?
Who is Porto’s wide right man Ed?
If it’s a Portuguese Zaha then it has to be Moreno, for me?

{Ed001's Note - I think it is the Mexican lad Corona, who I don't remember being quick.}

8.) 16 Mar 2019 08:45:07
Cheers Ed001.
Looks like Milner then?

{Ed001's Note - for me it would be. Moreno is too unreliable.}

9.) 16 Mar 2019 10:26:38
Milner all day. At least you know he can be relied upon. Moreno CANNOT be relied on. Too much empirical evidence to support Moreno's unreliability.

10.) 16 Mar 2019 11:11:06
Anyone but Moreno. Even Adam Lewis would be a better option.

11.) 16 Mar 2019 11:13:46
Maybe Moreno LB and Milner LCM.

12.) 16 Mar 2019 11:45:09
Is the first leg at anfield? If so I'd go with more no as we will totally control the game. If we are away I'd play milner or fabhino.

Or play three cbs with trent and milner playing on the wings.

13.) 16 Mar 2019 11:45:25
Milner without a doubt. If he makes an error it will come as a surprise, if Moreno makes an error no one will be surprised and to be fair to him he’s had no game time so why would he not be rusty.

14.) 16 Mar 2019 13:05:21
Have to weigh up the options in midfield before going with Milner. If say Fabs and Hendo are out injured then I’d go with Moreno at LB but if we have plenty of spare midfielders then it has to be Milner. If the game was a month down the line I’d say Gomez as he did play that position under Rogers but it’s too soon to throw him into that game.

15.) 16 Mar 2019 13:43:35
Brahimi plays on the right too and he’s an excellent dribbler, milly all day.

16.) 17 Mar 2019 00:58:58
to be fair to milner, surely if we have a makeshift left back then we got to set up our midfield and CBs so they can prepare to provide cover.

Marcelo Pitaluga is having a mare in the league of ireland for St Pats with some high profile errors. I think he's been at fault for 3 or 4 goals in as many games.

Is it true that Julian Ward was back in some capacity as reported late in the window by various outlets. Could it be Wards leave was temporary and a return to his old post on the cards?

Anyone can but players and put them on a field i. e Chelsea, Pep has built an expensive team but a team that plays great attractive football. We shouldn't be bitter and try dilute the achievement Pep and his team have achieved while crying out for us to be taken over by whoever has the deepest pockets. For all the money spent they could be Chelsea.

Half of Europe would take your hand off for either Henderson or Fabinhio. Sure both are getting on but to think neither would have any interest is just silly, Milner had a queue.
