There is only one other player on the planet that can score goals like Mo did today, and that’s Messi. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying he is as good as Messi - yet - but there simply isn’t anyone else who has that ridiculous ability to keep close control of the ball, at speed, whilst looking like he is still playing within himself. I’d say Henry had it to a degree, but it is pretty rare. The guy is such a talent. We just have to keep hold of the lad for as long as possible.

Nick

What a shame that the reality is your last sentence. Imagine him in a team with Suarez (albeit a runt) and coutinho (albeit a wantaway) . I feel like Southampton!

2.) 18 Mar 2018 09:54:53
I’d agree, his mix of pace, ball control, composure, ability to read the defender, and finishing is exceptional.

I also thought Mane had a storming game yesterday, if you look how many time he dropped deep to get on the ball and how chances he created, it was exceptional.

Midfield looked a lot better for having Gini and Hendo in there too.

Well played lads!

3.) 18 Mar 2018 12:12:47
The person who really deserves credit is Klopp. Salah was not even at this level at Roma. People writing him off (as they did Robertson) but yet, Klopp tweaks a few things and he’s on fire. And it’s not just him that Klopp has improved. Makes me very excited for the arrival of Keita. Klopp will again take a very talented player to new heights.

4.) 18 Mar 2018 15:18:36
Great post JigzTheRed.
We are so lucky to have Salah ( credit to our Scouts) and even luckier to have Jurgen Klopp as our Manager .

5.) 18 Mar 2018 15:45:09
I remember after the UTD game, so many pool fans, slating klopp. I'm sat here thinking there is no other manager in the world i would rather have than Klopp, he's a good fit for Liverpool, you won't win every single game you play, that's how football is. We have been playing the most amazing football this season. Even losing Couts, we just stormed on and carried on smashing teams because Klopp knows what he is doing, We could end up winning nothing which is a shame.

Has been highlighted City been given too much respect, when teams like Wigan are going at them and getting points. It's embarrassing the prem teams who don't try and get a draw or grab a 1-0. Not saying City haven't played top notch but some games teams look set up to just conceded a 1-0 sort of result.

I think we have been going strength to strength and after losing to the mancs we came back against watford and bashed them 5-0, they didn't play well and made it easier for us than it should have been i think, but a top response from the boys.

I think next season will be a little bit closer at the top and hopefully with Kieta and the a few other additions in summer we will be able to properly challenge! I can't see us selling Salah, considering couts went in Jan, you won't win anything selling your best players each window. Definitely going to have interest from the big foreign teams but I think we can keep him!

6.) 18 Mar 2018 23:18:35
I fully agree Alistair when we lost to utd all the supporters were call for klopp head, he has no plan b and so on. The one manager who shuts up shop better than anyone is mourino and we gave them a 2 goal lead. Klopp has being playing tremendous football and of course we won't win every game but I still watch every match this season because it fabulous football. I haven't seen this flowing type of football from liverpool since the mid 80s. If we get a couple of more descent signing in we should be nearly complete. By the way eds best football site on the net by miles. Keep up the good work.

{Ed001's Note - thank you Deise.}

Have Juventus now moved on from Can? And if so, there are probably not too many teams about that would be willing to meet our valuation of him. With no potential buyers, does that mean he would be more likely to sign an extension, or would he run down his contract and leave on a free next year?

Nick

{Ed002's Note - Whilst the transfer window is open and with Juventus still looking for such a player they may well come calling.}

27 Nov 2016 09:48:17
Any Eds or posters know where the rumours of PSG interest in Lallana has come from? Surely nonsense.

Nick

1.) 27 Nov 2016 14:44:33
Paper nonsense. I can't see Lallana switching to Paris.

2.) 28 Nov 2016 08:32:49
Another daft story but I believe if he keeps playing like he has been (once he's back) then a lot of clubs will be interested come summer.

3.) 28 Nov 2016 09:14:12
Can't imagine he will want to go anywhere, Klopp has turned his career around in a way, he will want to stick with Klopp as long a possible.

4.) 28 Nov 2016 12:51:40
Pretty sure I saw S*n as their source so.

5.) 28 Nov 2016 13:25:56
Why would he go there?

6.) 28 Nov 2016 14:59:49
Very true Mikey, why change when you've only just began. under Klopp he's something else, it'd be stupid for him to want elsewhere unless of course it's only the wages he's bothered about.

7.) 28 Nov 2016 20:40:28
He's 28, his contract ends in July 2019, and I just read a story somewhere that LFC is going to offer him a 3 year extension. So I don't see much in this story. Unless Adam decides he really wants the money they through at him. Can happen.

8.) 28 Nov 2016 21:29:25
The lad has always been a good player. He struggled to adapt at first because of expectations, but having good/ better players around him makes life easier, and isn't necessarily down to the manager.

I'm sure that many teams sniffed around him at Southampton.

{Ed001's Note - they did Davey, Arsenal tried to buy him a number of times, and we did.}

9.) 28 Nov 2016 21:36:55
I can 100% understand the Arsenal link and think he would have been an valuable addition to that squad.

10.) 29 Nov 2016 21:46:15
As he was to ours :-)

11.) 03 Dec 2016 02:45:31
There's great lap dancing clubs in Paris so he may be tempted. .

22 Aug 2013 09:41:46
Sorry to ask the eds, but is there any substance to the Will Hughes story? I hope so, he has a lot about him. {Ed002's Note - There is certainly interest from Liverpool.}

Hi Eds, any truth in the 2 billion offer for LFC? If FSG were looking to get a lot out of their investment, surely that was it?

Nick

{Ed002's Note - I have answered this.}

24 Feb 2018 17:03:43
Come on Chelsea!

Nick

1.) 24 Feb 2018 17:09:43
And Palace.

2.) 24 Feb 2018 17:15:13
I think we are top four now, I really do. Utd having problems with their star player. We have to keep our boys up front fit but I just can't see us finishing fifth now.

Two summer signings, aoc and Robertson have taken some stick (I can't see why but they have) but they were both fantastic today. Well done lads, well done klopp and well done lfc.

3.) 24 Feb 2018 17:21:45
I've been more than pleased with the players mentioned let's hope they kick on and do well for the seasons ahead.

4.) 24 Feb 2018 17:28:13
Robertson has been a really good solid left back. Good cross for Mane today.

5.) 24 Feb 2018 17:42:40
Robertson is improving slowly but surely, i think he will end up being a key player.

Many players played really well today, Chamberlain, Salah, Firmino even Milner had one of his better games in midfield today, if Emre could be arsed he would be amazing, a goal and an assist and still so sloppy and maybe cost us a goal (on another day i think that's given as a freekick? )

Could've easily scored 4-5 more goals, which is great creating so many chances in front of goal. Mane and Salah could've both had hatricks! Also a mention to Karius who had 2 good saves in the first half, he played a slack pass in the 2nd half but overall a decent GK performance!

6.) 24 Feb 2018 18:14:17
Milner although limited has had 4 good games in a row. Over the last 4 games he has been one of our best players.

Ox today had his best game for Liverpool, well played. Hope he can really push on from here, his last few games were poor.

7.) 24 Feb 2018 19:03:05
Milner gets a lot of stick, I have been one of the doubters but he has been great lately. He is the type of player you want at the business end of the season, his experience is massive for us, we have a pretty young team. Fair play James milner.

8.) 24 Feb 2018 19:20:25
The two saves from Karius were top drawer.

9.) 24 Feb 2018 21:18:40
Esp. the first one, Frankly. The kid is improving and the hope is that he gets it done this season cos he may be no. 1 next season if Klopp decides so cos like it or not, HE is the one Klopp wanted to be first choice from jump and if he gets it done this season, he will be and we'll all have to get over it and support the guy.

10.) 24 Feb 2018 21:49:33
Karius has looked like a very competent GK in the last 3 games he has played, if he can keep it up in the remaining 13-16 games i would really loath the thought of Keylor flappity Navas replacing him as nr.1.

My prediction - Mané is going to score a hat trick tonight. Back to his best tonight.

Nick

26 Dec 2017 22:49:46
A quick question to Ed 02 if he is about, and willing to respond to my question. In a different thread to do with Coutinho leaving, you were explaining that he wants to go to a club where silverware is a given, and that only Man City would fall into this category. I had assumed that Man United - mainly due to the size of the club as opposed to their recent on field performance (since Fergie left really) - were still in this group. Is that not still the case?

And a follow up question if I may - would the fact that there will be at least 3 or 4 contenders for the title each year (although maybe not this season) competing for the title, would this somehow limit the worlds top players from choosing to play in any team in the PL and make the more ‘top heavy’ leagues, ie France with PSG and Spain with Barcelona and Real always more attractive?

Have to say quite pleased though that Uniteds stock has fallen slightly.

Nick

{Ed002's Note - I don't recall exactly what I said Nick but MU have not been challenging at the highest level for some years. It is 10 years since they won the Champions League, they are behind the likes of Schalke and Porto in the club rankings and currently sit in 15th place. It is the on field performances that matter - not what happened in the long ago past. You need to get away from just thinking about the Premier League - players are looking to win in Europe. Clubs like Real Madris and Barcelona are far more attractive than the English sides and are seen as being at the pinnacle of the game.}

1.) 27 Dec 2017 10:53:32
What about Bayern munich?

{Ed002's Note - What?}

2.) 27 Dec 2017 11:23:32
In terms of prestige I think the top tier of clubs at the moment are Real, Barca, Bayern, PSG and maybe Juve. City look like they're on the verge of joining that group. Utd and Chelsea are on the tier below that with teams like Dortmund, Athletico and Milan. We're another tier below with Spurs and Arsenal but if we keep going the way we have been we should step up.

3.) 27 Dec 2017 12:04:38
PutneyRed. Milan? Are you sure?

4.) 27 Dec 2017 12:46:04
Hmmm, you may be right, I hadn't paid attention to how poor they'd been over the last five years.

5.) 27 Dec 2017 15:13:10
Milan are still an institution in European and World football despite their woeful seasons in the past 5 seasons. They have NINE CL trophies and 19 Serie A titles to their name. They are and will always remain a big club and City will NEVER match them. PSG were a dire midtable club (almost got relegated 10 years ago) until the Qatar govt. took them over so they to me, are not even bigger than OM who have MORE (10 to 6) league titles and has a CL to it's name, PSG do not yet.

City have to do a WHOLE lot more just to emulate Nottingham Forest or even Aston Villa who have CL trophies to their name. I won't even mention LFC or even Utd here as City won't be able to match these clubs esp. in this modern era where there is money everywhere and at every club.

Just give him the 100 grand a week and a fair release clause and be done with it. Cheaper than buying a replacement and he is going to just keep getting better.

Nick

{Ed002's Note - I have not said that they have no legal basis in the UK. You all need to forget about clauses.}

If VVD wants to move, it's up to him to decide what to do. He's a grown man with a team of very well paid advisors, and I am sure he will do what is best for himself. Obviously we have handled the situation like a gang of imbeciles, but I wouldn't get too teary for VVD or Southampton. Players join clubs and they then leave.

As many have said, if Couts decides it is best for him and his family that he moves to Barca, we will have to accept that too. Top level players decide where they are going to play - contracts mean very little.

Grujic is already good. From what I’ve seen - which isn’t very much - he could be very good. I’ve never spoken to an LFC supporter who has knocked him. Not sure what ed2 is referring to. I guess I should be grateful that I don’t speak to the sane so called fans that ed2 has to put up with. I would like Grujic to stay with us to be honest. He has got thise Viera type long legs - bit like Fabinho - that can seem to get places that they shouldn’t .

Have to say, have enjoyed hearing what Crouchy has to say, and I don’t think I can say that about any of the others. He seems a top bloke who knows it’s just a game, and obviously likes to have a laugh and doesn’t take himself too seriously. So got to say :

He’s big,
He’s red,
His feet stick out the bed,
Peter Crouch!
