Sky are now saying theirs a 75percent chance the league won't be completed. So we really aren't winning the league? . Came rom a senior premier league figure.

Nathlfc

{Ed002's Note - The Premier League have not quantified the chances of completing the season.}

hi ed001,

Do you think we have an issue playing agaist 442 when the whole opposition plays deep? . both our defeats this season have come from teams playing that style. Or is it just us playing badly and tbh its also poor officiating.

Nathlfc

{Ed001's Note - they played well and we didn't, formation is not really relevant.}

1.) 21 Feb 2020 09:42:39
I know people keep talking about how they played defensive this sat back etc, but I was very impressed with their energy!

Every player worked hard, closed down, stopped any counter, it was what they planned to do and achieved it!

We move on bring it to Anfield and scare the sh*t out of them.

2.) 21 Feb 2020 10:14:00
Yeah at Anfield we'll show them who was and still is, boss. No boggy, half time.

3.) 21 Feb 2020 10:58:19
Gotta give credit where credit is due. Athletico are a top class side and on their day can match or beat anyone. A few times this season we have not hit top gear and got away with it. This time we didn’t. It happens, the players are only human. We have no god given right to smash everyone like we seem to believe. 2nd leg is all about outscoring them by 2. Performance makes no difference it’s all about that goal deficit. Can’t wait for the game personally.

4.) 21 Feb 2020 12:13:34
I think we lost to an unlucky goal. and our players seemed nervous at times to make killer passes and runs. In all honesty, hadn't they got the goal the tie had 0-0 written all over it. I'm hoping the Anfield crowd will inspire our lads again in the return fixture for a 3-0 or 3-1 result.

5.) 21 Feb 2020 12:26:34
I think it'll be either we go out, or we beat them by a lot. If we get two goals, they'll have to come out and play and I think we'll destroy them.

6.) 21 Feb 2020 14:03:37
We'll do a number on them. Great team, I agree and I was actually concerned about playing them away but only a 1-0 nah, bring them on. Again a good team and what not but we have a better team and at Anfield they will be knocked out.

7.) 21 Feb 2020 23:34:33
Spot on, Ed. AM played well based on what they set out to do and frankly, if you did not know what AM were going to do in the game based on their history and tactics then, you were prolly the few who were surprised.

We all knew what to expect from them but the early, scrappy goal was the ideal scenario for them cos it only made them more aggressive as they had something to hold on to.

We on the other hand, looked nervous and allowed them and their antics to get into our heads which led us to play poorly. They played well. We didn't. Nothing more, nothing less. We now move on, regroup, prepare well and give them hell in the second leg.

8.) 22 Feb 2020 08:07:48
It’ll be just as tough when they come to Anfield. They will also be right up for it, early goal is key imo .

Match review by any chance ed001?, interesting to see what you though about the referee that kept stopping our attacks, and stifled us in every way possible so that we couldn't possibly score.

Nathlfc

{Ed001's Note - I don't think I could review that without swearing!}

1.) 18 Feb 2020 23:47:41
Typical Simeone team, he was just the same as a player.
You should do a see you next tuesday for them Ed 😀.

{Ed001's Note - see you next Tuesday? That could sum up Simeone!}

2.) 19 Feb 2020 07:26:55
What made me chuckle, Klopp got booked for moaning about 1 decision (that the ref got wrong may I add) . Simeone barely stayed in his technical area all night even coming onto the pitch numerous times, acting like a clown, complaining about every decision, celebrating when an Athletico player fouled a Liverpool player. He was aweful but the ref didn't seem to bat an eyelid.

3.) 19 Feb 2020 07:19:37
Ed, would I be right to suggest that said swearings would be due to:
1. The drop and roll technique they employ that we are not teaching at our academy?
2. The calls and non-calls by the ref?

Also what did you make of our play? Seemed like after Mo went off we sort of had no penetration? There’s a ball by VVD to our right wing that I thought Mo could get to, but Ox didn’t manage.

{Ed001's Note - yes and yes. I mean how can you make a call from 40 yards away when your assistant is 2 yards away and says it is not a foul and you are on the blind side?

Mo was struggling too, I never saw that as the problem.}

Hi edds,

Went to watch Marseille a few months ago and went to watch them play and was really impressed by one of their midfielders and have just seen that Watford were interested in signing him this window. Zambo anguissa his name was I think? . Have we ever shown any interest?, fits the bill of an upcoming young defending midfield player who could improve our midfield.

Thanks.

To ed001,

Where do you see ox playing?, if centre mid which one of them is going to be dropped for the ox?, we don't sign players for 35 mil to play on the bench or be an impact sub.

Nathlfc

{Ed001's Note - there are lots of games to play and he will play where he is needed.}

Man City have Mahrez, sane and Jesus who would get into any team below top four as bench players. Players like mahrez who is top quality do move to sit on bench becaus they love the money. So we would have to pay ridiculous wages for them to do that and that ain’t happening. Peope hype up that Foden and he never even gets any minuites, just an rubbish cameo.

Nathlfc

{Ed002's Note - Rubbish - where do you get this nonsense?}

im a big believer moreno only looks decent this season because of the shambles that's going on next to him. A keeper is the clear major issue and wasnt addressed in the summer. This was the major mistake and could cause klopp his job, i juts don't get how they thought mignolet was good enough he ain't good enough for a league two team. A keeper should organise the defence which is why we concede so many from set pieces over the last few years, were a mess we need six new players.

hi edd002 im just curious to why we didn't have a plan b like we had with salah when brandt wouldn't come. What was the reason we didn't move onto other targets? . was it just a case of we thought that southampton would eventually let him go which was clear way before deadline day they werent.

Nathlfc

{Ed002's Note - That would be one for Klopp.}

do you think there is still a chance we can sign him then?, or is it very likely he's off to spurs.

I don’t think anyone here has mention ketia not being fit and what impact that has, he was a 60 million pound player who can never get fit in almost two years. And if we had spent the money on someone else they would certainly have been on the pitch.

Well Sancho has been terrible tonight, had the biggest chance to play Haarland or hazard in and spooned a shot which was never going to go in. Does not seem to make right decision in front of a half decent defence, needs to go to another league and stop playing crap defenders every week.

Thanks for the reply. the goal sancho scored looked fixed he had allreayd slid by the time sancho got their. I fail to believe its lack of quality they just don't track back and can't be arsed to defend its bizzare. Ah yeah i suppose they would just adapt but i would still stay clear of sancho, be interesting to see how he does in champions league when he comes up against a team that actually track runners and don't stand still and fall over.

Nathlfc

{Ed001's Note - that will be how we will judge them, in Europe.}

question for the edds, don't you think the bundesliga defending is some of the worst you have ever seen?, the problem i have with werner sancho and havertz is that when i see the bundesliga games the defending is absolutely atrocious. its not really the fact that they have no ability its also the lack of effort. jadon sancho constantly has the freedom of the left side of the entire pitch in the premier league that simply wouldn't happen. Their is far less space and i think all three of them players are vastly overrated because of the lack of effort the defenders in that league put in. i would stay away from Sancho all he does is run down the wing and square it five yards for another player to tap it in a open net you can't do that against most of the prem teams who park the bus against us.

Nathlfc

{Ed001's Note - I do agree the defending is terrible. I saw one goal Sancho scored yesterday and the defender just ran straight past and fell over. It was like a Charlie Chaplin movie. However that doesn't mean they are not good players. They stand out as the best there for a reason. They would just need to adapt to having less space.}

Yeha I think the reason I wanted to avoid them the most is becasue do their terrible tactics to park it and waste tiem from diets minuite both matches will be a terrible watch. And that’s what you should be excited for in Europe a good game, but this tie won’t it will be them with double deckers out, and Oblack taking five mins a goal kick.
