Hi Ed001

Question for you

Who are liverpool actually looking to bring in this summer?

I've just seen Brandt has gone BD

Fekir still a option?

Cheers.

{Ed001's Note - I believe the interest has gone in Fekir, though I do expect him to move in the summer.}

1.) 23 May 2019 08:17:13
Any hunch or info on who we might turn to Ed. Any snippet or grain of any whisper mate?

{Ed001's Note - not at the moment mate.}

2.) 23 May 2019 09:13:06
I don't think anytji g will be happening until after the final personally. No point concentrating on anything but that.

3.) 23 May 2019 09:21:02
Same last year, final disappointment then BOOM - Fabinho appeared out of the ethereal mists.

4.) 23 May 2019 14:23:02
This time imagine final happiness and BOOM us signing Messi🤣🤣🤣.

5.) 23 May 2019 16:45:12
I honestly think we'll just sign someone that no-one expected us to, or possibly someone who is fairly unknown.

I've recently read that we may sign Samuel Chukwueze if we can get a decent offer for Shaqiri. Nope, I haven't heard of him either.

6.) 23 May 2019 21:15:16
Nobody knows. all just guessing! i love it, the way it should be.

7.) 24 May 2019 00:27:57
EpicPotato, i've not seen a lot of Chukwueze, but what i have seen has impressed me, particularly against Barcelona in the 4-4 draw a couple months bk. he is oozing natural talent but is still very raw. could be perfect Klopp material.

8.) 24 May 2019 21:46:07
Thanks Redbarber. At least someone has seen him play and I'll take your every word for it :)

Hi Ed001

You doing a match review?

My popcorn is at the ready!

Thanks.

{Ed0666's Note - I would guard your popcorn or any food when the Cookie Monster aka Eds 001 is around mate. He’s usually has a quick turnaround time for the reviews so I’d expect it later today or sometime tommorow.

1.) 25 Oct 2021 15:31:06
Fair play to the away crowd at Old Trafford yesterday, when I heard “Na na oles at the wheel” from our end I burst out laughing 😂

Loved every minute of yesterday myself. Can’t thank the players and jurgen enough. Another great day they gave me ❤️.

2.) 25 Oct 2021 17:49:31
I'll bet this will be the most read review ever.

3.) 25 Oct 2021 20:46:14
Second most read review behind the Southampton review from last season :)

Morning Ed001

Question for you today, i have been reading plenty RE Hendos contract situation, i can't believe we would actually let him leave considering his quality on the pitch and what he has done for us.

What is your take on it? do you think we will tie him down to a new contract or not

I do get dishing out contracts for over 30s is not ideal

hope all is ok on your end.

{Ed001's Note - he has 2 years left, this shouldn't even be a discussion until next summer at his age and with his injuries.}

1.) 09 Aug 2021 13:01:19
This Hendo contract story is surely for Twitter outrage only and to stoke the FSG haters. As Ed001 says, it's basically a non-story at this stage.

2.) 09 Aug 2021 13:44:02
I genuinely find the duality of this funny. On one hand you have people complaining that Firmino, Salah, Mane, Virgil, Matip and Thiago are all 30 or about to turn 30 and insisting we sell some of them to fund a rebuild before we end up with an old squad.

On the other hand, we have people losing their mind over Henderson not getting an extension on a contract that runs until he's 33.

Which is it lads? Are players over 30 who've helped you win the league and CL still only fit for selling, or is it a disgrace if we don't keep them?

3.) 09 Aug 2021 14:19:27
Great point Something.

4.) 09 Aug 2021 14:45:49
Sr it’s called moving the goalposts to suite your arguments or agenda. It happens in every walk of life and every single one of us will be guilty of it some way or the other.

5.) 09 Aug 2021 14:50:38
Something Red, good point but I think most will recognise that Hendo is valued in the team for reasons different than Salah and Mane.

Firstly, Salah and Mane depend on their agility and pace in their game. With age, there is a fear these attributes will diminish. Hendo on the other hand is valued for his awareness, drive and leadership. They are unlikely to vane with age, even while his great athleticism deserts him.

Secondly, the replacements for Mane and Salah will likely command high fees. We can't help but wonder if selling them while they are close to their prime to fund the replacements is a good idea. Hendo doesn't have this issue because he doesn't have that resale value.

And finally, both Mane and Salah will demand a starting spot in the team for the next 4-5 years. We can't bring in their replacements and consign them to the bench gradually. Hendo on the other hand will happily rotate in the squad so we can bed in a younger replacement who grows into the first team.

VVD is a different case altogether. Due to his position and exceptional attributes he can play till late thirties.

Matip - I don't think anyone is worried about his age.

Thiago- we are yet to see him become an indispensable member of the first team so it's too soon to worry about whether his age will become an issue.

We need a young and athletic team to play our high pressing game. Having too many 32 year old is not conducive to that. And if we are to have a few older players in the team, then let them be Hendo and VVD because their other attributes make up for it.

6.) 09 Aug 2021 15:35:04
Hendo is never 100 percent fit and it his fitness issues will only increase as years go by. He cannot and will be be available for 40 games a season.

7.) 09 Aug 2021 15:40:31
The points on Salah and Mane are ridiculous.

8.) 09 Aug 2021 17:42:54
Sorry hhanif005 but your points about Salah and Mane are ridiculous. Salah and Mane are probabaly the fittest players in the team - not to jinx it but i cannot remember many games where these 2 have missed due to injury or due to their age catching up with them. Granted Mane wasnt his usual electric self last season but that was mainly due to CV.

Henderson on the other hand as good as he is has not been available for at least a 1/ 4 of season for god knows how long. Does it deserve a new contract just for being a great motivator/ part of the team. It all depends on what his demands are - which none of us know.

9.) 09 Aug 2021 18:02:15
Something Red Henderson had missed something like 12 weeks last season and 10 the season before with injury. Salah and Mane have great injury records even the season we won the league after that awful challenge by Choudhury don't think salah hardly missed any minutes even with his bad ankle. It's the only injury problems of Henderson why everybody just wants to wait to see how he gets on, We did that with Sturridge and was stuck with him on massive wages never fit and hardly playing any football.

10.) 09 Aug 2021 21:44:47
SR, these guys can never seem to make up their minds. Baffling, init?

Morning Ed

Questions for you as i have seen some discussion around it.

What actually is the situation with Salah? do you see him leaving in the summer? or does he now watn to stay long term?

im torn as i think he is the best of the best, but if we are going to lose him i think we will have players desperate to play for us

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - There is no situation beyond what I have explained over and over. You can search.}

Hi Ed001

I would definitely love to see a return of the written reviews. They became part of my morning routine with my cup of tea! (Sorry to break trend I hate that bitter stuff! )

A general breakdown of how we played etc would be great

Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - does that make you posh that you have tea rather than coffee?}

Rodgers as a manager has not been good for our club:

. He does not learn from his mistakes, nor does he show any signs of being able to tactically analyse our weaknesses or our oppositions (his insistence on playing Skrtel)

. He has extremely poor man management skills, he makes promises about playing time that he then does not keep (Wisdom, Sakho, Illori)

. I have never seen a manager of any top club handle the press so badly on a regular basis, he makes constant crindgeworthy comments, he claims credit for any positives and 'passes the buck' on any negatives its never his fault!, the reason the press love him is that he is always good for a headline.

. He is completely inept in the transfer market, constantly buying expensive players for positions we don't need and already have a surplus of players in and equally failing to address problem areas

. The team has no identity or defined playing style, after a successful season playing a high press/high intensity style he went back to a slow possession for possessions sake style which had already on numerous occasions failed to deliver for us.

. He shows absolutely no interest in playing any of our talented youngsters, and doesn't even bother to turn up and watch them play which i believe is a sackable offense on its own.

We must not have blind faith and just support the manager whatever the scenario, when the team is playing you must always get behind them, but FSG must accept there mistake and move Rodgers on before he does anymore damage to our club

thanks for your response Ed002.

Coutinho may well start to gain interest from other teams but right now he is a player we are not interested in selling, i'm not sure what relevance Sakho had to do with our debate but he has now signed a new contract and the intention is that he now will be a starter in our squad (although he has been told that before more than once before).

When i said fluid 3 i was referring more to when he plays with a strike partner and finds himself out wide as he did with suarez and as he did on saturday with ings

I understand we will have to sell over the next few transfer windows but i consider any of the players i listed to be far more likely to be moved on than sturridge, of course thins can always change and you are correct in saying players are just employees of the club.

the likelihood of sturridge being sold in January is very low indeed
