Hi Ed,
Your last update I could find regarding Chiesa was that we had moved on and Gordon was the target.
It seems we have flip flopped with targets again now and gone back to Chiesa.
Are you aware of Liverpool making contract with Juve/ agent etc.
{Ed002's Note - Federico Chiesa (LW/F) A third party has informed Juventus of possible interest from Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich and with sanctions this may lead Juventus to consider a sale, although they would prefer a new contract. Spurs, Newcastle, Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal interest seems to have gone although Spurs, Chelsea and Napoli interest could return depending on left-sided departures - although each have preferred options and Spurs have a far more pressing need for a striker. Barcelona offer an option. Aston Villa interest will go nowhere. Al-Ittihad have him behind Salah and Son, but could turn to him. Liverpool would be an option but it seems unlikely as they seem well stocked for versatile forwards, particularly left-sided forwards, but if Diaz departs he will become the likely possible replacement but not first choice although Ramadani has said that he has been dealing with approaches from Barcelona, Spurs and Liverpool. I expect Spurs to push if the lose Richarlison but an out and out striker needs to be recruited first. Seen as a Felix replacement by Atletico. Napoli and Inter offer part exchange options. Chelsea may also do the same. Agent has been speaking with Roma and agreed a move subject to a fee being agreed with Juventus less than the large asking price. Ongoing injury concerns but a one year extention to his contract will allow his agent and Juventus to negotiate next season - and I suspect that will happen, although Juventus will be nervous about him departing as a Free Agent next summer and could simply opt to move him on now. The view of Thiago Motta will be crucial.}

Thank you Ed!

Ed002,
Lost my old account (JoeyTheRed)
Have been meaning to ask you in regards Inacio.
We obviously are talking to his agent, however you have stated he would be a Van Dijk replacement. Is there not a world where we sign Inacio and VVD stays?
Thank you in advance.
{Ed002's Note - Inacio would want to be a starter. It is Matip that needs replacing and Liverpool sold the ready made replacement they already have. It is hard to see GI and VvD playing next to each other.}
1.) 24 Aug 2024 14:31:29
Thanks Ed,
With the possibility of Inacio coming in then, do you expect VVD to move on?
{Ed002's Note - perhaps.}
2.) 24 Aug 2024 17:11:51
If we are pushing for Iancio and there isn’t anyway he arrives with VVD staying then surely means Virgil is on his way.
3.) 24 Aug 2024 17:24:41
Isn’t he suited to a back three?
4.) 24 Aug 2024 18:27:15
Kloppiche I think he can play back 3 or as a left sided CB. I just don’t quite get it as he only arrives if Virgil moves but Virgil can play very single game on the prem, cups and Europe.
5.) 24 Aug 2024 19:35:35
Seems like a tough spot for all parties, as LFC want Virgil to sign an extension.
6.) 24 Aug 2024 17:52:18
Worries me that Virgil might be on his way, he's still one of if not the best CB in the world.
I'd personally prefer him to sign a new contract for 2 more years rather than him leaving and Ignacio coming in.
We need a CB regardless so someone happy to learn and play a bit-part when Virg needs a rest would surely be the preference I would have thought?
7.) 24 Aug 2024 20:42:13
VVD will not be resigning, deemed to have lost a yard of pace. i been told.
8.) 24 Aug 2024 20:54:05
Virg>ignacio by a mile.
9.) 24 Aug 2024 21:04:40
Is this what you meant when you basically said it will get worse before it gets better?
10.) 24 Aug 2024 21:56:45
Inacio needs to brought in now, leave it till vvd goes he’ll be elsewhere 100%. Not many players of that quality around anymore. Definitely not available to our budgets anyway.
11.) 24 Aug 2024 22:18:53
But isn't that precisely the issue? If he's brought in now he won't be playing (unless you think he's better than VVD) so why would he sign?
He's rather play more games at Sporting than be on the bench here hoping the captain can't play.
Transfers is far harder than people on here make out, because it's about real people.
12.) 24 Aug 2024 23:01:32
It baffles me how people believe a CB can only play on one side. If he’s a CB that can literally only play on the left then leave him alone he’s rubbish.
It really doesn’t matter what side he’s playing on now, if the best way for him to fit into our team is as a right sided CB then he will play there.
The CB position is about a partnership with the other CB not about what side you are on. You might be more suited to one side but that doesn’t mean you can’t play the other side. Unless you’re crap.
13.) 24 Aug 2024 23:59:08
We need a Gvardiol type who can play LB and CB.
14.) 25 Aug 2024 06:14:21
Ed2 has replied to me on another thread that it doesn’t necessarily mean VVD goes this window.
It would be season ending if we sell VVD in this window imo. Even if we have Inacio coming in. There’s no way we can remove that kind of leadership and presence at this point of Slot’s first season.
15.) 25 Aug 2024 06:48:14
Is it true that ground developments and the signing of Dom Szoboszlai were paid for by a loan taken out against the club? Lots of rumours about this subject just trying to find the truth.
Thanks.
16.) 25 Aug 2024 08:07:01
It’s certainly felt very ‘sell to buy’ this summer, but obviously if it looks like you’re made of money, you’ll get rinsed on repeat.
17.) 25 Aug 2024 08:53:30
We also need to sort Konate's contract out this summer or he'll only have a year left too. Robertson and Kelleher are in the same boat but I can see those 2 not being renewed for different reasons.
18.) 25 Aug 2024 09:01:43
We won’t buy anyone. These lot are going to chuck Arne under the bus.
19.) 25 Aug 2024 09:46:21
Ali staying for two more years at least.
20.) 24 Aug 2024 15:24:18
How much could possibly be done in a week!
Wow.
Thank you as always Ed!
21.) 24 Aug 2024 17:24:38
Ed002, is not there any possibility that Inacio might cover the left back before Virgil leaves? He looks like fitting the profile that Slots wants from his full backs in a role similar to Hancko's.
{Ed002's Note - Sure, play him out of position as cover for Robertson and Tsimikas.}
22.) 25 Aug 2024 10:15:12
Well, Arsenal and City play with 4 CBs and distribute them through the pitch differently, it depends on Slot if he wants Trent in the middle build-up and a cover of 3 CBs. LFC's main weakness in deffence last season was the fact the Virg and Konate had to cover the whole pitch when Robertson attacked with Trent almost always out of the classic RB position. Watching Inacio's heatmap at Sporting I can definetely see a way that works, he already plays a similar role but in a back 3. The buildup will be with 4 in the back on paper but if Trent play in the middle majority of the team it is almost a classic 3 backline.
23.) 25 Aug 2024 11:13:44
Joe - That’s my thinking too. How much, if anything can we actually do in 5 days. Once bitten, twice shy. We’ve developed a somewhat sketchy track record late in transfer windows. Feels like every scenario we’re involved in to bring someone in is “complicated” in some way. At some point we’ve got to acknowledge that’s an us factor or problem, dependant on how you see it. It can’t always be everyone else. My big concern is if Gomez leaves. I think everyone we’ve sold this window has asked to leave if I’m not mistaken, and if Gomez has asked too, the general message here has been if Inacio signs, VVD may go. Which feels wild to me if Gomez goes, given Konate’s history with injuries. I’m just babbling now, I might try my hardest to block it out until Saturday and then pop in to see what we did as checking in by the hour isn’t going to change anything.
24.) 25 Aug 2024 23:48:00
No first teamers have asked to leave. Carvalho and SVDB wanted to be starters and that wasn’t going to happen at Liverpool. In fact looking at our bench in the last two games they wouldn’t even be making the bench.
The right thing to do was to sell them.
Gomez has been a good servant but hasn’t been first choice since 2019. If he wants to start we should move him on too.
Squad harmony is very important so if you have dissenting voices saying they don’t trust the manager’s decisions they need to go. That includes Trent if he wants to keep throwing tantrums after being brought off after 70 minutes.

Ed002,
With the impending signing of Chiesa. Someone you have mentioned repeatedly for a long time.
It shows again, you are a wealth of knowledge and truly “ITK”
To give us this info for free is amazing.
Truly appreciated from my myself and many others on here.
You are a legend. Thank you!
{Ed002's Note - You are welcome Joe.}

God, what a mess.
What happened Ed? He seems so happy when he joined.
What has made him unhappy?
{Ed002's Note - He has been injured and there is no real place in the side for him.}

I think he’s extremely ruthless.
He’s never happy. Even after the game he’s still mentioning Trent giving the ball away, Lucho not tracking back etc. hard to satisfy maybe sums it up better.
But taking Trent off again showed me the kind of character he has. He took him off simply to show he’s boss and to test Trent. What kind of reaction would there be this time. Sends a small message to the rest of the team too perhaps.
With a more civil reaction from Trent this time. The message has been understood, and I guarantee he won’t take Trent off again.
In my opinion of course.
Maybe I’m overthinking it!
