Eds, Anything on Viktor Fischer? {Ed002's Note - Viktor Fischer is subject to interest from Milan, Manchester United, Manchester City, Roma and Werder Bremen. Ajax is negotiating a new contract with him and I would not expect a move in the summer.}

Ed001?

Have you done a player profile on Ronaldinho? Where do I find it if so?

If not could you add him to the list if he already isnt? Guy was just amazing pre-2006 the closest thing to a more modern day George Best!

Cheers!

JTaylor781

{Ed001's Note - I will do a player profile on him when I do his legends article mate. So he is kind of on the profiles list.}

1.) 03 Aug 2018 18:32:17
Adriano would be a good shout too if he's not already on the list Ed. A player who promised so much but who had a real detrimental life away from the game.

08 Jun 2018 17:17:47
Hi eds. If/ when Fekir signs for us would you be able to do a player review on him? :)

Would love to hear your thoughts on him as a player and how he would fit with us.

Hope you all have a good weekend!

Cheers!

JTaylor781

{Ed001's Note - I have added him to the list.}

1.) 08 Jun 2018 18:40:17
Instead of people saying he's a Coutinho replacement (very unrealistic), I'd rather look at him as a miles Better Adam Lallana. Very excited about our new midfield!
Next hopefully a keeper.

Ed001 if you have a second, What is your view on FSG as owners of the club? There is a lot of hate building towards them and I personally think they are decent. Would love to know your thoughts.

Cheers!
JT.

JTaylor781

{Ed001's Note - mixed up is the quick answer.

Pros: have put in money, done brilliant things on the commercial side and always looked to back the managers they picked.

Cons: made a lot of bad choices in terms of personnel they have appointed, constantly want to fleece the fans over tickets.

I am sure there are other things for both pros and cons I just can't think of off the top of my head.}

1.) 30 Jan 2018 11:33:16
Thanks Ed!

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate, sorry I haven't got time to do a more comprehensive answer right now.}

2.) 30 Jan 2018 11:59:15
I would agree that their biggest mistake has been experimenting and taking unnecessary risks on footballing side of the business. They started out wanting a sporting director and a progressive young coach but got that muddled up with the Comolli/ Dalglish experiment. They then bowed to Rodgers' insistence that he would not work under a sporting director and ended up with dysfunctional transfer committee. Now we've promoted an analysis guy in Edwards into a sporting director role that perhaps isn't strong enough to match the personality of the current coach. So I would say not getting this side of the business right has been their biggest mistake. Edwards does seem to be FSGs guy so this side of the business depends on his evolution as a top sporting director - whether we like it or not.

{Ed001's Note - I agree on that.}

3.) 30 Jan 2018 12:38:01
I think the nitty gritty of transfers has eluded them up until this point, whether that's our inability to attract, the clubs reticence to pay (up until Nabby and VVD), and a basic lack of understanding around the complexity of transfer negotiations, I am not sure but it's certainly not good. I am sure klipperty has to take some responsibility for these issues as well but it seems we need to change the current process.

Commercially we are strong but we also need to make further inroads to the big growth markets in Asia and South Asia, our guys have done great in building revenue from traditional means but it's a massive untapped market.

The youth and loan systems have also been poor with players either not playing, not making the cut, or making poor loan decisions, again it seems no accountability exists for this a no real inroads to build networks like Chealsea have with partner clubs.

Finally our "intra-club" relations are poor with other clubs reticent to do business with us and our reputation being at a pretty low ebb.

4.) 30 Jan 2018 12:52:35
Personally, I don't mind people making mistakes provided their hearts are in the right place and are willing to learn from them and grow. I think FSG are on the right track here. We shall see what happens and hopefully, they continue improving the club.

5.) 30 Jan 2018 12:36:02
Thanks Ed. I have always wondered whether Xabi Alonso will end up being a better sporting director than a team coach. Whilst I am sure he will try his hand at coaching first and will find success I get the feeling he has the vision and personality to do a lot more than that for a footballing institution that he has an affinity with.

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea. That does often work in Germany though, so it might be worth a go.}

6.) 30 Jan 2018 21:10:44
I won't go over old ground as to why I despise these owners just as much as the last lot, but if you read comments made in torres's book then it tells you all you need to know about these owners and why our top players want out continuously.

Found this havening a google, Very Interesting.

"Before Sunday's game against Southampton, current Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and ex-boss Brendan Rodgers had identical Premier League records after their first 65 games in charge of the Reds: W33 D18 L14 (117 points) .

We know Klopp drew his 66th game against Southampton.

How did Brendan do?

He won his. "

JTaylor781

{Ed002's Note - Up to now Klopp has been behind the curve in comparison to Rodgers - you shoud be pleased about this.}

1.) 09 May 2017 09:23:57
To be fair Brendan inherited players like Gerrard, Reina, Agger, Carragher, Henderson and Suarez.

Klopp inherited Brendan's mess.

You cannot compare different seasons anyway. As well as the above, Brendan was also competing in a league where Man United was managed by Moyes and LVG, Everton were managed by Martinez, Spurs were nowhere near being a good side and relied 100% on Bale etc.

In the last 2 seasons we have seen the level of competition in the Premier league go through the roof. When the likes of Crystal Palace, Stoke and West Ham can start paying £20m for a player, the competition will always be tougher.

What matters really is how we perform against our rivals season by season. Rodgers and Klopp have very similar records right now. Great. Both had a title challenge in their second season which petered out into mere CL qualification. Where we see Klopps true ability is next season. Does he completely flop in the Champions league and finish outside the top 4 again like Rodgers did? Or does he kick on and improve? That is what really matters. Rodgers started his career here very well. It was the dross which followed 13/ 14 that got him canned. Not his first 2 seasons. So this comparison is mute really.

2.) 09 May 2017 09:42:04
I would rather compare them after 122 games. And also compare their records in cup competitions.

3.) 09 May 2017 09:46:02
Agree very difficult to compare - Rogers had a fantastic run for a while, where SAS nearly delivered the title, but then he fell apart when he tried to remodel the side (buying in players like Balo and Benteke which were very different styles to previous season) . Those last set of results, like the 6 goals we shipped against stoke, were just abysmal and there was no faith left in the squad.

Klopp on the other hand took over a team in poor shape, and while he has made some mistakes, he has the team playing like a team and re-established a clear identity and pattern of play. Yes the few mistakes (like failing to strengthen at CB, FB and recruit a fit striker, and then more recently playing some very defensive setups) have still hurt and delivered some dissappointing results, however fundamentally we are learning and moving forward. I no longer go into games wondering who will play and if we'll be competitive. yes we can improve but aside from Chelsea and Tottenham I'd say we're next in line.

A couple of windows where we strengthen further, and if we manage to keep our best players like Coutinho, and we could be witnessing a return to a consistent top 4 spot rather than the one year where Rogers blew the doors off with Suarez leading the charge.

4.) 09 May 2017 10:00:23
Completely agree!

5.) 09 May 2017 11:50:09
Brendan came in with a reputation of Europe's best upcoming manager playing the Barcelona style of tital football. Failed in his third year and got the sack. Won nothing in between other than wasting trick loads of money on players.

Klopp is no different. Won nothing so far and will enter into his third and most crucial year next season. He has to deliver trophies else he gets the boots.

6.) 09 May 2017 11:51:23
MK That's if we make champions league, god forbidding we don't.

7.) 09 May 2017 09:41:22
What do you mean by that ed?

Like both managers just never understood the sacking of Rogers to bring in a German version of him as they are very similar. I also think to blame either of them for the team under performing is unfair. Yes there is things they should do like not playing players out of position but out of the pool of players we have sometimes there is no choice eg. Milners better at LB than Moreno. I personally think Courts is wasted in the LF/ LW position as a more central role would suit him but who else can we put there? Yes there is the youngster but for some reason Klopp doesn't think they are ready so well have to respect that.

Lets just hope Klopp is here for the very long term as that is exactly what the clubs needs.

{Ed002's Note - Quite frankly Klopp is not as good as the majority of the Liverpool fans think he is. They throw up the pitiful and embarrassing excuses of transition and he has not been at the club long enough, the tight fisted owners, the players not being good enough, the pitches being too dry, it raining outside etc..

https://twitter.com/WonderDogSparky }

8.) 09 May 2017 11:06:26
Ed002 says these things because he knows it winds people up. Ignore it. We know Klopp is a much better manager than Rodgers, no matter what some unknown ITK says.

{Ed002's Note - Try not to be a complete cretin. Right now Klopp has a poorer record than Rodgers. It is hardly "winding people up" to explain something that is correct to those who are blind and stupid. Embarrassing.}

9.) 09 May 2017 12:19:03
Klopp has a lot to prove so far. Not much of an improvement on BR imo (no trophies so far) and just like BR, the club cannot seem to keep a hold of its best players even under Klopp's regime.
Top4 now is imperative and Klopp needs to push on next season by winning a major trophy and securing UCL football for the force-able future. Otherwise, he will go down as one of the many managers that could not give the fans what they crave (the BPL) .

10.) 09 May 2017 12:34:25
ED002 really does think that Klopp is the great imposter. My response to that is "is there anyone out there with a proven track record that LFC could attract? "

I am struggling to find one.
Klopp is the best we can get and we will stick by him (for the time being at least) . If he is as bad as ED002 thinks then time will tell.

{Ed002's Note - I don't think I have said he is bad, but he is simply not as good as many think. Liverpool had several better options available to them when the decided on Klipperty - that has been done to death. Klipperty has won nothing for years as I have explained. He is stuck in his waus and is failing to show an ability to adapt and change. It doesn't make him bad and as the Liverpool fans are happy with the smiley clown approach and the lack of success, then long may it continue. FSG were dumb enough to give him a contract extension very early on - which suprised everyone.

So it is not a case of him being bad, it is in view a case of him not being good enough for Liverpool unless he can change. Until then, he will get by as the happy clown and the Liverpool fans will happy as the continue to celebrate failure.}

11.) 09 May 2017 12:36:05
As a number of posters have said, let's wait and compare records at the end of their tenure, not during.

What Ed002 says is factually correct, Klopp does currently have a worse record than Rodgers. No denying that.

There are a number of factors that contribute to that, as outlined by MK and others. I certainly don't think that Klopp is the messiah, he has faults as all managers do. I do believe that he is the right manager for us right now.

As to comparing eras, yep also difficult. For example, given Fergie's early years, I'm pretty certain he had a far inferior record to Klopp or Rodgers in his first X games, but he did OK? Of course, you can't compare eras, so that comparison is as irrelevant as comparing Klopp and Rodgers!

I feel more confident having Klopp than Rodgers. I'm sure most fans feel the same way. That's the only comparison that matters.

12.) 09 May 2017 13:06:16
I do like Klopp and I really hope he can bring success back to the club, but he's not addressed certain issues on field that were blatantly obvious when he took over, the defence being the big one for me -IMO.

My first choice was Ancelloti.

{Ed002's Note - Back in January #WonderDogSparky did explain about the defence.

https://twitter.com/WonderDogSparky/status/825386834796638208 }

13.) 09 May 2017 13:18:17
ED002- thanks for qualifying your comment-but please answer my question. Are there any better alternatives out there?

{Ed002's Note - I did answer your question - Liverpool had better options at the time and made a mistake. He was then given a lengthy contract so they could not afford to sack him even if they wanted to. But there are always better options out there.}

14.) 09 May 2017 13:28:46
Sorry ED002- my question was in the present tense- is there anyone now?

{Ed002's Note - There will always be someone but Liverpool are not looking for a manager now.}

15.) 09 May 2017 15:42:57
Only Zeddicus and MK have posted some good comments here. Comparing Klopp to BR or vice-versa, is a fool's errand, a false equivalence and comparing apples to oranges. It's like saying we should compare Klopp's first 66 games to Rafa's first 66 games while at the same time, ignoring the context regarding squad quality, individual talents, strength of competition in the PL at that time and so on. That is not a good way to judge. People seem to forget that BR's first one and a half season were dire (with the likes of Allen, Borini, Assaidi and the like) and it was not until Jan of 2014 that we got on the run that almost won us the PL. Everyone seems to forget that which is why stats are pointless without context.

Klopp inherited BR's mess with no pre-season to evaluate the players and get the ones he wanted in. You cannot disregard that as that is a key factor for ANY manager tho a lot of work still needs to be done cos like it or not, it's his team now cos he said so himself.

Has he made mistakes? Of course and he even admits that (something BR could never do cos nothing is ever his fault) BUT at least he got us to two cup finals in his first eight months, something BR could NEVER do in his 3 and a half year here. BR won NOTHING here soso why is he being seen as some type of "success" over Klopp who's only been here for half his tenure, Buzzer?

See how anyone can use stats to make a point? Judge them after a similar amount of time cos taking random stats at face value is pointless.

16.) 09 May 2017 16:42:17
Late to this party but I completely disagree with Mk. Rodgers inherited the worst Liverpool team in 50 years. In 3 seasons he had to rebuild it from scratch. Klopp received a much better team than the one Rodgers was given.

I have a Theory about piracy regarding sly sports and others in the UK and would love to see what you guys and EDS think about this. long shot but maybe a possibility.

Right so we all know the sports packages in the UK are just crazy and you don't get all the games, the prices go up every time they (sly or bt) sign a new contract for the games.

Now where my theory comes in is that look at the amount of people that use Kodi or get the match on illegal streams, they are not contributing to thre crazy payout to buy the games.

If we all started paying it could go either way, they could drop the price as of course they'll make much more money and benefit all win-win. just like the cinema its bloody dear to go see a movie (cause of piracy? maybe. i think so) if we all went to the cinema instead of going on Kodi or online it could drop the prices.

but back to the footy. If for talk sake (on the up side) everyone paid and didn't go on kodi etc the prices could drop and happy days OR! iit puts even more money to the English teams and prices continue to rise.

Not sure if im making sense but yeah! what's your thoughts!?

Cheers for reading have a good weekend, don't drink to much ;) and let's hope for another HUGE 3 POINTS!

JTaylor781

{Ed001's Note - it doesn't work like that. They say it does, but that is false. They price it to make the best possible profit, like everything. I remember when CDs were introduced and they were cheaper to make than vinyl or tapes, yet they charged many times more for them. It was the same with DVDs, they ripped people off for years by charging more than for the same thing on video even though it cost them less to make. Perhaps if they stopped ripping people off, people would be less inclined to turn to piracy. I know most people I speak to would pay a fair price rather than use Kodi.}

1.) 05 May 2017 19:21:16
Thanks for the Reply Ed01! bit of a change in subject for you haha!

But i agree there is both sides sadly and due to the greed what you said is most likely the way but hey! we can dream right!

I Pay for both the packages in the uk cause im a mug haha but i also use kodi for the games that are not included in the package! which is a bloody joke. this 3pm kick off nonsense needs to go as other things but footy seems to be moving forward so we may see it in the UK. like hell the Video Ref is coming which i think will be amazing for the game if used correctly :) if its tested in the world cup then hell that is the biggest stage there is. the game should be further forward technology wise than it is due to the money. Rugby is doing a fine job in that aspect with a lot lot less money.

{Ed001's Note - the 3pm thing is to protect lower league clubs who have a large number of fans who go to watch their local teams when they can't watch their own team. I would hate that rule to go, as a large number of clubs would fold if it did.

The video ref is a terrible idea, in my opinion. It doesn't work in rugby, it stops the game for far too long and makes it more like those awful American sports, which are more stop than go. Having seen the video ref in action in the A-League this season, it could be a complete disaster. One decision they got wrong, despite making the wrong decision initially, then restarting the game, players protests made the ref stop it and go to the video ref, who then agreed with his initial decision, which was wrong anyway! All of it took over 2 minutes to sort out and yet they came up with the wrong decision. May as well get it wrong quickly, just keep the game moving. I would rather see the rules speed up things, rather than slow it down. If players go down, unless it is a serious injury, take them straight off the pitch for any treatment while play goes on. Things like that would improve the game, not a video ref.}

2.) 05 May 2017 19:25:06
Prices rise as demand rises. Sly wouldn't see 3 million new customers and think 'oh we can reduce the amount our existing customers pay'. They would see 3 million new customers and think 'more demand means our product is worth more money' and raise their prices exponentially.

That is the way big businesses work. They are profit first, customers second. Just be glad you aren't an employee as they usually come in third!

3.) 05 May 2017 19:38:47
MK that's true but when sky got the latest contract they (well apparently) had to make cutbacks and also rised the price of non sport customer prices cause well they apparently had to make sacrifices and cutbacks which also affected the non sports customers. Sky would die without the sports and i personally think they are struggling i was paying about £120 for everything including bt sports. i cancelled and 1 year later (now) i have it all minus the movies and bt sport for 15quid a month. 12 month contract at that price oh and i got 3 months free (this month is my last free one as i apparently had money on my account lol)

4.) 05 May 2017 19:42:24
Speaking of going the cinema being expensive have you seen the price of popcorn? Haha
You pay about £20 a ticket as well, walk in and your usually the only one in there, that's one industry being killed off by greed.
Back onto football, I would love to see a Supporters telly package, where you get ALL the games of your team of choice live then they show a selection of the other games later on or the next day plus highlight shows of the other games. I would happily pay for that, I would never pay for the likes of Sly or BT to watch 1 or 2 games a month.

5.) 05 May 2017 19:46:18
Ed01 I agree in a way as im Northern Irish and the football teams here have been struggling well. it started with the Troubles then now they are struggling due to the money but hell our wee teams use to do okay in the old CL :) now no one has ever heard of Glentoran, Linfield etc outside of the UK (if that) . so i do agree on that.

The video ref, more testing needs to be done its early days. if they can do it right then awesome if its like you said then don't bother but the money that fifa are making should be helping the sport become better and be open to new ideas. one thing for sure we need to get rid of diving it is getting unreal now (i was having this discussion with a united fan as lucas dived in the box the other day which was proper awkward)

{Ed001's Note - I would rather the refs just watched the game back afterwards with the ability to make retroactive decisions to award cards and/or bans. The less messing with the game itself the better.}

6.) 05 May 2017 20:09:52
1985! that's true haha you now have to hide you own sweets and what not down the baggy trousers! but a supporters package would be nice, hell charge a season ticket price for it long as i can see every game im happy (i go to quite a lot of games too, minimum of 8 a season) but the option would be good and i agree Ed! how come players don't get punished from diving etc after the game as its talked about on the post match talks! players should get punished for it as it is cheating.

{Ed001's Note - I personally think they don't want to admit it is a problem here and most of the rest of the world see a dive as clever play, sadly.}

7.) 05 May 2017 20:14:13
Eds! just a thought and a bit of an odd one BUT have you ever thought of starting like a video chat room for supports to go in and talk and use (eds) get involved too? a quick google and there is a place called tinychat which you can have your own password locked rooms? or add it to this side?

Just a thought! be interesting!

{Ed001's Note - Benny Baller did suggest it a while ago. Not really something I can see the use in most of the time to be honest.}

8.) 05 May 2017 20:26:47
Wait LOL i know diving is huge with foreign players but they actually see it as "clever play"? now that is messed up! Out of everything that is the main thing that needs taken out of the game.

Ohh okay so would i be fine for one of us to make a Liverpool Rumours room and post the details here? will it be used? who bloody knows but it would be there for what ever :)

9.) 05 May 2017 21:32:11
All the sport you could want for £30 a month, what is people problem with sky?

They do loads for community aswell.

10.) 05 May 2017 22:21:13
it should be like tennis where the manager gets to challenge a refs decision once per game. I think this could rid goals that wrongly get called offside as well as dissallow goals that are offside. would help stop bogus penaltys and award proper penalties. you will also get managers behaving themselves as they won't be able to moan at a refs decision especially if they can challenge their decision with video replay.

11.) 05 May 2017 22:29:57
1212 Seriously? All the sport you want? going by just football you need Sky and BT to get the most out of it and you still don't get enough.

The problem people have with sky is the fast they are over priced, look at BT, Talk Talk, Virgin etc etc there full package that is the same as skys is much cheaper. also Murdoch owns sky.

How don't you have a Ploblem? lol.

12.) 05 May 2017 23:48:32
I would rather get rid of penalties for fouls inside the area than use a video ref. I might get slated for saying that but think of the positives. Players would stop diving to try and win a pen, refs would be freed from the pressure of making immediate and direct game changing decisions, controversy surrounding those decisions would largely dissipate. Keep reds for last defender fouls and direct free kicks in the area. Just a thought. Vid refs would be useful for incorrect offsides that result in a goal for or againts.
On KODI, admittedly I use it for games not on the packages. I don't live in Liverpool and I want to see my team play! I'd gladly pay top price for high quality access to EVERY Liverpool game, but that's not happening so KODI it is. I want to watch and support my team and I can't afford to trek to Anfield every fortnight. I agree with the eds on the need to keep 3pm games off tv for the smaller clubs, but I don't feel that should hinder my access to watch the team I live, breath and love to my core.

13.) 06 May 2017 06:36:47
I'm not based in England but I find it ridiculous you can pay a fortune for sky and still not get every game. SingTel in Singapore isn't cheap but at least I can watch every single match in the entire PL

I also recommend LFC TV - delayed but excellent coverage and good for catching up or when you just want highlights. and at least the money goes to the club.

14.) 06 May 2017 08:40:32
What are these tapes that you refer to Ed?

{Ed001's Note - something I saw on Guardians of the Galaxy....}

15.) 06 May 2017 11:43:49
I've always liked the idea that you should be able to award penalties even if it was outside the box. It would stop the refs having to decide whether contact was in or out, whether it continues etc. If it's a foul, and there was a chance to score, it's a penalty.

He seems to be struggling with injuries since joining? I don't remember him being injury prone at his previous club?

Is it the training or just bad luck?

IF he comes back he definitely wouldn't be first choice in my opinion, regardless of what he's done though i wouldn't have him back. we proved when he was at the club that we are a better team without him, he unblances our mojo.

Why do we always put such a high value that no one is willing to pay on players like Wilson?

Surely the price can be dropped with some sort of clause in the contract that if said team sells him on we get a cut?

The club has done a good job managing his injury more so now that he is playing more attacking. great player and far better in this role than playing as a holding mid.

You'll be doing well to get in somewhere in Liverpool mate though going by your username, there are some good places in Chester to watch the game. I've not been to the Mill hotel to watch a match but i've heard its a decent spot and atmosphere is great. plenty of screens round the place too.

I think Trent will do well against him, From watching the last match every time Hazard was attacking down that side it was always Matip going to him. look back you can see almost every time Clyne walking back in the distance and also with Gomez there too.

We should be fine, Hopefully a good attacking game and 3 points for us!
